“The Best Spot in the Caribbean!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

We have been around the Caribbean and Mexico for many years and Negril for the past few years. This was our second time at Catcha and it won't be our last. The place just gets better every year. And it's sad to see some of the other places we visited going down hill. The rooms at Catcha are clean and well kept. The prices are reasonable. And if there ever is a problem - just ask and it will be remedied (our safe combination wouldn't work so they gave me the master key to my safe...). The staff is great and fun to be around. For those of you that can stand family and friends - we have stayed at Moon and Star which are almost identical. Two bedrooms, two showers (indoor and outdoor), a nice living room and wet bar with full size fridge and a gigantic deck with seating for a party. It's great for morning coffee and planning then nightcaps at the end of the day to talk about the adventures. Read the other reviews - This place rocks! Blessed Love.

P.S. Is the Caribbean considered a 'fitness center'?

The was our first trip to Catcha and our second visit to Negril. The pathways are gorgeous and the views are amazing. The food is amazing at Ivan's and then just get comfortable in a lounge chair! Everyone was very accommodating and courteous. I attended a wedding there with this visit and the entire event was completely awesome.

Just got back from Catcha. Everyone was courteous and made the stay most pleasant. Wayne the driver has a touch of arrogance about him at times, which he should check, but generally nice. The food was great, especially the conch strips. I'll be back.

This property has it all (except the beach lol), but hey I'm not really a beach person so it was fine with me! The property is beautiful, the staff is fabulous and the food and drink is delicious. I stayed at Catcha on the 1st night of a 6 night stay. The view of the sea is absolutely stunning! I wound up returning two more times with guests I met at another property. I stayed in the gatehouse which is located just as you enter the property. I didn't have a sea view, but the room was fab! I had all the amenities I needed including a shower off the bathroom with a sky view! The walk to the restaurant/ bar and area to watch the water was only about 2 minutes. I can't remember the names of all the staff I met ( I don't know how they remember everyone's names, but they do!) but they were all super nice. We were treated to a performance by "Tina Turner" Halloween night and later we were treated to a performance provided by bar staff and it was hilarious. Thanks guys, I missed you before I even left Negril!

Room Tip: BOOK EARLY for the best room choice. The Gatehouse is great , but remember there is no sea view.

This is my 2nd review of Catcha. This hotel is our absolute favorite.

The atmosphere is relaxing. There are gardens and pathways to your cottage. The views are amazing. there are plenty of 'spots' to catch the sunset or sunrise.

The rooms are great.
We have stayed in Moon, Star, Libra, Sagittarius, Little Capricorn, Gemini 1 & 2, and Pices. They are all great in their own way. I would recommend them to couples and families as well.

This year we stayed in Star. This is a 2-bedroom cottage with a great view!
The rooms are clean, tidy and cozy. The ladies who clean are great and friendly. It's nice to chat with them each afternoon as they come by.

There is a fridge and microwave in this room.
The indoor bathroom has a shower and toilet.
There is also a door which leads to an outdoor patio and shower. This is really the best part of the room. Above you are trees for privacy and the bougainvilleas are always in bloom.

The cottage features a large wrap around patio with furniture for relaxing or enjoying breakfast.

The living room is great, with two small sofas and a TV (I never turn it on, but it is there)

There is no A/c but plenty of fresh ocean air circulates through the room.

One thing that took some getting used to...there is a tree that has a large nut above the roof of this cottage. I guess October is the time of the year that these nuts fall and they hit the tin roof. Makes you a little jumpy the first night, but you soon forget about it and enjoy your scenery!

Great cottage!

Room Tip: This is a great room for couples or for a family, as you have two separate bedrooms and two showers.

This review is a little overdue. We travled to Catcha last June and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the villa which was large with a beautiful view. There is a/c in the bedroom and we did find the rest of it not very usable because it was so hot but that was a minor issue. The staff is friendly, it's safe and laid back, the property is well kept and lovely and the food is magnificent, and we met some wonderful people. As a matter of fact, we ventured out to dinner a few times and could not find a better place to eat. This was a wonderful laid back vacation and we fully intend to return next year.

Room Tip: Make sure you get something with a/c in the bedroom because not all of the units have this feature.

My wife and I spend 5 nights at Catcha in early October. We've been to Jamaica a couple of times and Catcha was a truly different and wonderful experience.

Here's what it doesn't have:
* An animation team bugging you to participate in some silly event
* Vendors hitting you up for para sailing, massages, marijuana, etc.
* Large ho hum all inclusive cattle call restaurant
* A swim up bar that people sit at all day (without leaving the pool) yuck
* Cheesy so called "evening entertainment"

Here's what it has:
* A small and personal feel
* A feeling that just makes you chill out right away
* A great sunset (it's probably 1/10 of a mile to Rick's)
* Friendly staff that goes out of their way to learn your name
* A cool private cabin that is clean and has a true Jamaican feel to it
* Most of the furniture is made by locals
* An owner (Harry) who is often on sight and loves to give private tours
* An ala cart restaurant that is as good as any I've ever had
* Access to a small grocery store to stock beverages
* Private little spaces in the rocks for couples to disappear
* A well stocked bar
* A "just right" size pool that is somehow temperature controlled (to make it cooler)

Other tidbits:
Bring shampoo. We brought a nightlight (the room was really dark). Spend some time under the bridge in the pool for a break from the sun. Bring sandals. All stone walkways would chew up your feet. Make sure you jump into the cove. It's 35 feet deep. Climbing up the ladder is a bit of a challenge, but worth it. We did 5 days at Catcha and 5 days at a "cookie cutter" all inclusive. It actually was a good balance. Try LTU pub nearby. Great food and views just watch the math on your bill... :)

We will go back again.

Room Tip: The cabins are rustic and if that's not your sort of thing. The condo rooms are awesome.
