What a wonderful place to stay! My husband and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and wanted a quiet place to spend some time together. Coral Cove was absolutely perfect... though the trip to the property left us wondering if we had made a mistake. Coral Cove is in a small town called Little Bay, and there is no easy way to get to it. The last four miles approaching the property is unpaved and the surrounding area is quite poor by American standards. You will see plenty of goats, roosters & possibly a donkey on your way into Little Bay.
The journey is absolutely worth it! Coral Cove is private, quiet and unassuming - with breathtaking views. There are two buildings on the property and a small outdoor bar. The rooms are very clean and quaint. Our room had a small fridge stocked with water and soft drinks and we had a lovely open air shower. It was wonderful to take a shower under the bright sunshine!
Coral Cove feels very much like staying at someone's beach house for the weekend. For example, there are lots of towels provided in your room - but none are matching. The resort has lots of books from prior guests and plenty of watershoes (very necessary, as the beach is rocky) available to borrow.
Coral Cove is all-inclusive and while you don't have a choice of what is for breakfast/lunch/dinner, the food is both authentic and delicious! Our first breakfast included fresh fruit, fresh juice, toast, guava jelly, fried eggs and bacon, jonny cakes and aki and salt fish (a very traditional and delicious Jamaican dish). Plenty to choose from and all prepared wonderfully. I can't say enough about the staff here. Again, it is like staying at a friend's house - and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. My husband mentioned to one of the drivers that he had tried breadfruit in Jamaica years before - and the next day the driver brought some breadfruit from a friend's yard and the women in the kitchen prepared it for us!
The property is beautiful, with walking paths among the rocks right on the ocean. The beach is rocky, and the water is clear and warm. Snorkeling is wonderful here. It also is a great place for fishing - and in fact one day one of the other guests caught fish that we had for dinner!
This is a small property - and there were about 4 or 5 other couples the whole time we were there. On one day the other couples were off on various trips and we were the only ones at the resort.! This is a fabulous place to do absolutely nothing - in the most gorgeous setting.
Again - can't say enough about the staff. The bar is small (6 stools) but the bartenders make the best drinks with fresh fruit (nothing like a pina colada with fresh pineapple and coconut!). There are hammocks for reading, massages available or a boat ride can be arranged. Drivers will take you to Negril (for a fee - but they are both knowledgeable and fun). We went into Negril for dinner twice - tried the Rockhouse and it was fabulous! Highly recommend the Rockhouse.
After going into Negril, I have to say I was glad that we stayed where we did. It was very private, beautiful and felt like we really were in Jamaica - with all of the best things about Jamaica on display. Coral Cove is a much nicer experience than the large commercial all-inclusives. Coral Cove is kind of the anti-Sandals. After staying in both & enjoying both - I would return to Coral Cove. Coral Cove is a very special place, and everything & everyone made us feel like we really were away from it all.
We absolutely loved Coral Cove and really feel that the price was a bargain for all that we experienced.
