“The Jamaican cooks and their five star service”

The Jamaican cooks: Ms. Jean, Annette, Sonia, Elaine and their host of young Jamaican girls are the main attraction for this trip. The ladies made you feel like children coming home for the holidays. They scolded me for not eating enough - that's how much care they put into looking after their guests. They are fiery, comical culinary mistresses of Coral Cove. They knew everybody and every single piece of the country. I regret not learning their recipes. The beauty of the resort, the people, the landscape, particularly, the cove, left me little time to spend with Ms. Jean and the ladies, but they knew when to call me in for dinner and they knew to have a guide posted at my door, after I casually asked about nearby attractions, like Bob Marley's house and his mineral bath. There is absolutely NO restaurant in New York that could touch their personable, "no problem" service and their addiction to treating you like family. It was so hard to say goodbye! We made a vow to return to their Jamaican comfort. They made a vow to be there. All other accommodations, which were SUPERIOR, is still but a backdrop to Ms. Jean, her ladies and their Jamaican home.

When we decided that we needed to get married in a place that was naturally beautiful and away from all of the mess of corporate vacation resorts, we were lucky enough to find Coral Cove. From the first contact we had with the management of Coral Cove, everything was handled perfectly and in a timely manner. They really do have a slice of heaven for people who want to truly relax and see the real Jamaica. The food was wonderful, and frequent. The staff took great care of our every need. Ritchie is most certainly the man, and while in his care a weary traveler will not want for anything. Be sure to go see Uncle Sam in "town" and take a day trip to Negril... The details of our wedding were handled perfectly, and although it was only the two of us I felt throughout the process the same professionalism and attention was given to us as would have been given to a larger party. Overall a great place and we will certainly be making a return trip for an anniversary celebration.

This is absolutely the place to get away from it all. I think the toughest decision we faced all week was deciding if we wanted another rum drink. The staff certainly takes care of you, and the food was divine!

We shared the resort with 2 or 3 other couples - depending upon the day. We stayed for 8 nights in the Bonita, which was one of the smaller rooms (but had AC). The room was very clean and there were always enough towels. It was our 6th trip to Jamaica & we've stayed at a different resort each time, but this one may be the first we decide to plan for a repeat visit.

A couple of things to note:
-This resort may not be for everyone. It is very small and quiet, with no real nightlife. There are no major attractions close by & the road is a challenge in and of itself. Those qualities were great for us, but might not work for those seeking a more lively atmosphere.
-DO use the drivers arranged through the hotel. There is no way to find this place if you don't already know where you're going, and the cost is in line when compared to the cab fare from Montego Bay to Negril.
- The snorkeling is OK. The reef has not recovered from Hurricane Ivan, but there are several varieties of reef fish, along with the occasional eel. And we did see dolphins jumping a couple of days, which was great.
- DO wear watershoes when swimming - there's an abundance of sea urchins, sharp coral, and lavarock.
-Bug spray is suggested, particularly for after dark on calm nights.

“The best...no other place to get married!!!”

Coral Cove Resort

We knew from their website that this was THE place to get away from it all. Litlle did we know at the time how wonderful everything would be!!! Dawn and Terry did a fabulous job with our wedding. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. This was certainly a worry-free affair with all the people very involved in the process. The photographer that Dawn recommended was the best ever---people are still commenting that these are the BEST wedding pictures they have ever seen. (And that says a lot since we're both thirty-somethings!!!) The haridresser was friendly and took great care in making sure i looked my best.
Coral Cove is definitely out of the way --- just what we wanted. Our room (#11 Starlight) has its own private verandah and the best ocean breezes. We thought we'd miss having air conditioning, but using the fan and breezes worked out just fine. (Beware --- if you are looking for ice-cold, air conditioned rooms, don't book this one. I think they do have a few that are air-conditioned.)
The people make the place --- Richie is THE MAN and the one to see if you need anything. The ladies preparing and serving the meals are some of the friendliest, caring individuals you will ever meet --- not to mention the best cooks!!! Yum-yum!!!
We had the place to ourselves for a few days, too, so that made things even better. No more than 3 couples there at one time, so what else could you ask for?
When it's not busy, the bar is really "help yourself,' but you need to make sure you try Richie's 'Welcome to Jamiaca, Mon" specilaty drinks. The best!!!
We will be back!!!!
(Just so you know --- bring water shoes with you. Hurricane Hugo brought in many rocks and while they plan to clear out a better beach and swimming area, right now this is not a place where you can walk straight out into the water and sink your toes in the sand. Also, their snorkle gear and bicylces need major updating and repair.)

My husband and I got married at Coral Cove in April of 2006. We had an amazing time there. They handled everything for us, all we had to do was show up. It was the most peaceful week we've had in a long time. The food was incredible and the staff really catered to us and our needs! We plan on going again, we loved it so much!
