Beach House Villas
We stayed in the Lower Beach House.
We Loved – the quiet location, the friendly staff, the security guys, Florence, Bull, Captain Billy, the local vendors, decent room with a functional kitchen – good AC, sweet kitties Blackie and Brownie. Nicely laid out for the family – we had room to stretch out! House right on the beach! Look out and see the waves coming in, the sounds of the surf, at night the sounds of the tree frogs and creatures. Overall, really decent accommodations, not stuffy or fancy, but really nice for the price – comfortable, clean. The grounds were really pretty – nice little jungle walk from the street side to the beach side.
We Didn’t Love – The hotel restaurant had very slow service – slower than Jamaican slow – and was quite expensive. And the food was just okay. As far as the rooms go, our beds were really hard. The water pressure was really low, so it took a while to get the soap and shampoo rinsed off. At night, tree frogs were really loud – so if you’re a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Personally, I liked the sounds since I’m a sound sleeper – but for my wife, well, they could be really loud!
Overall we had a great family trip to Negril. It’s fun, funky, and beautiful. It’s hard to see the people that struggle to make ends meet, but they generally seem pretty up-beat and optimistic about life. The town itself seems to be inhabited by many aggressive panhandlers and con artists – so just get your groceries and go.
