Beach House Villas
We stayed in the Lower Beach House.
We Loved – the quiet location, the friendly staff, the security guys, Florence, Bull, Captain Billy, the local vendors, decent room with a functional kitchen – good AC, sweet kitties Blackie and Brownie. Nicely laid out for the family – we had room to stretch out! House right on the beach! Look out and see the waves coming in, the sounds of the surf, at night the sounds of the tree frogs and creatures. Overall, really decent accommodations, not stuffy or fancy, but really nice for the price – comfortable, clean. The grounds were really pretty – nice little jungle walk from the street side to the beach side.

We Didn’t Love – The hotel restaurant had very slow service – slower than Jamaican slow – and was quite expensive. And the food was just okay. As far as the rooms go, our beds were really hard. The water pressure was really low, so it took a while to get the soap and shampoo rinsed off. At night, tree frogs were really loud – so if you’re a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Personally, I liked the sounds since I’m a sound sleeper – but for my wife, well, they could be really loud!

Overall we had a great family trip to Negril. It’s fun, funky, and beautiful. It’s hard to see the people that struggle to make ends meet, but they generally seem pretty up-beat and optimistic about life. The town itself seems to be inhabited by many aggressive panhandlers and con artists – so just get your groceries and go.

First off I was going between Excellent and above average. The only reason I am going with above average (but would say very very above average) is due to the problems we had at check-in. When we arrived late at night, there was no key waiting for us, it was in the office, but the office of course was locked. There was a staff person that stayed with us the entire time while we located the property manager, who got out of her bed and came to the property to let us in.

Once we were settled in everything was absolutely fantastic! First thing the staff did was upgrade us to an even better room the next day, right on the beach that would have been double the cost of our place, but they wanted to compensate us for us having to wait outside for a couple of hours before we checked in. The truth is that even waiting outside at this beautiful place was not bad, we could walk to the beach that night look at the plants and birds etc.

We also rented BHV because it was not an all-inclusive, we wanted to see the real Jamaica and did not want to be inside a resort that would make it seem like we could be in any warm-weather place, but we also wanted a comfortable, attractive place that when we did come home was secure, and this met all of our expectations in that regard and more. It was almost as if the staff knew intuatively when to come and when to give us privacy The beach was beautiful, but not one of those places that only caters to americans and europeans that want to be in Jamaica but not IN Jamaica. It was also very cool that we met some people that helped us find a great real Jamaican place in the mountains where we watched the Olympic 100 meter final which Usain Bolt of Jamaica won and we were able to celebrate as if we were also Jamaicans.

Anyway, I think I need to go and change my review to excellent, being slightly inconvenienced for those few hours was not enough to say above average because above average is a C+ this was definitely an A experience for us. It was my friend's birthday gift and she could not have been more pleased, which of course pleased me so everything was great! I have photos at home, perhaps we will post them later.

We selected BHV due to Tripadvisor's ratings and the comments from previous guests and were not disappointed, considering that it was off-season for guests AND lobsters! My wife and I had just spent a week with our 3 adult children and their 4 boys (3 and under) so we were ready for some quiet time on the beach. We arrived very late at MBJ but our pre-arranged taxi was waiting. I must admit that we were essentially "beach potatoes" as we never left the same two chairs under the palm umbrella for 5 days. We stayed in the Penthouse and enjoyed being up above the fray and were very comfortable. The staff was most helpful with arranging our transportation to restaurants and we highly recommend this small hotel for anyone looking to get away from it all.

“Loved Beach House Villas - Beautiful”

Beach House Villas

The Beach House Villas were wonderful. We brought our three children with us ranging in ages 15 to 6 and they cannot stop talking about the place. The vendors were a bit over whelming when we first got there, but once Security got on the beach the vendors pretty much left you alone unless you called them over. All of the people at Beach House were so helpful and kind. We loved the grounds crew - Hey Bull and Kevin was great. The restaurant on site was good and they would even make special dishes if you asked, great chef. Our villa looking over the ocean was very nice and comfortable. We have no complaints and are going back again in July without the kids.

“EveryTing is Every Ting at Beach House”

Beach House Villas

Jun 6, 2008

I have been to Beach House 4 times with my family now over the last 6 years (girls ages 12 & 14) and have had a great time on each visit. For the price of the Condos vs what you pay at the all inclusives you can't miss. There is enough to do in Negril to find your own good times either as adults or kids and it is all right in front of you on the mighty 7 mile beach. We always felt safe as there is a security guard on the beach all day and most of the night plus you have Bull and Bujo working the beach and maintenance always keeping an eye out for the kids. If you need any sort of sightseeing then hook up with House A Black who runs his own service (glass bottom boats, taxi etc...) You are also within 500 yards of 3 different outdoor bars that have concerts during the week at night. The condos could use a bit of updating but this is Jamaica and they are stil in much better shape then many other properties Negril. The biggest issues with the condos are the showers and the cable TV but you should not be inside anyway and showers are almost always issues on beach vacation spots. Overall you can't beat the value of Beach House as you should go to the HiLo (grocery store) 2 miles up the road and get stocked with supplies then eat meat patties and fresh fruit from the vendors that walk around all day for lunch and you can escape on vacation without breaking the bank and having a great time.
