The room we stayed in was great. I believe most-all rooms are basically the same. The room was clean, inviting, great air conditioning, great t.v. easy to understand safe, very relaxing...I looked forward to coming back to the room after a long hot salty day on their beach. The beach bar bartenders were very nice as was all the staff. The beach security guards keep the beach private for hotel guests and there is a lady guard who is hilarious, nothing gets by her. One thing I didn't like was that we had to keeping paying for coffee at breakfast, only 3 cups per French Press. My husband usually brings me a cup of coffee in bed and the breakfast waitresses would not allow. The hotel owner explained to us how expensive food and other staples are I understand where he is coming from. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying on a Negril Beach, it had most of the comforts of an American Hotel. There is a fella across the street who is an excellent taxi driver though his car doesn't seem like it will make it down the road. Really nice man. When you leave the hotel he will come running over to you. His name starts with an "R", he is a wiry man, really really nice and honest. We never ate in the hotel rest., wish we tried it now that we are home. The rest. is beautifully decorated.

Room Tip: If you go to bed early (9-10 p.m.) and like quiet don't get a room on the water unless you reque...

My husband and I stayed over the holidays and it was by far the best holiday away from home we have ever had. The service was impeccable, the food was delightful, and the people were amazing.

The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. During our stay there were nice functions held at bongos bar or BBQs on the beach. Very entertaining and romantic.

We will definitely stay again very soon.

I have been to this resort 4 times since its been open, mainly for business but once with my wife. Firstly Negril has a special place in my heart, the beach is awesome, the water is always clear and usually warm.

Firstly you should know that SHR as far as I know is not owned by a big corporation backed by endless amounts of resources, it's just a very nice couple trying their best to offer a quite relaxing vacation, each time I go back I see more and more improvements. The property is always well kept and the staff are all well trained. I think the daily hands on approach of the owners is what has made this resort EXCELLENT. I really couldn't find anything of significances wrong with this resort, the only two minor issues I could say are the gym and cable TV service. The gym is under equipped for my liking and the TV could do with more channels but I guess if you are on vacation in negril who wants to go to the gym or stay in the room to watch television.

I have always been more attracted to all inclusive hotels but SHR is a refreshing change from the usual all inclusive hotels .

This a world class boutique hotel! Rooms are luxurious and large with the most modern fixtures and decor, complete with private balconies and no carpets.Even the most discriminating traveller will leave pleasantly surprised and planning their next stay! The beach is amazing, with security to prevent solicitors.I can't say enough...it must be experienced!!
Dinner at Bongos is a must!! The best Negril has to offer.Period!

This is a phenomenal hotel! We had an amazing vacation when we stayed here for our 2012 Christmas vacation. The staff - from the people at the front desk, bartenders, waiters, security, cleaning crew - are all friendly, genuine, and truly know how to make people happy. The owners are lovely and were also an intricate part in making our stay so fantastic. The hotel is gorgeous! The rooms are the perfect size, clean, modern with great balconies. It never felt crowded and you don't have to wake up early and leave your towel out to save a beach chair! The beach and ocean are beautiful! The pool is also beautiful, although we never actually used it because we spent our entire vacation at the beach. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good. The bartenders make phenomenal drinks. What more can you ask for? We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor have beautiful, vaulted ceilings with wood beams.

Finally, a restaurant destination on the Seven Mile Beach in Negril! We have been going to Negril for 15+ years with a large group of friends, and we go out for dinner every night of our 10 night vacation. 99% of the time we go up to the cliffs for dinner, since that is where all the decent restaurants seem to be. And while we love doing that, we are always are on the lookout for something great on the beach, since we stay down on the beach. I never understood why this restaurant-on-the-beach-niche was never successfully filled. Low and behold, this year it finally was...with the arrival of Sandy Haven Resort..and right next door to our hotel too! Couldn't be easier...but didn't want to get my hopes up. Well, my hopes were surpassed. The ambience at "Bongos", the official name of the restaurant at the Sandy Haven resort, has a boutique, high-end feel (not normally found in Negril), but maintains the easy casualness that we like in Jamaica. The food was excellent, and a refreshing departure from the typical Jamaican menu. It clearly is run by owners who really care. And we were lucky to enough to meet them...Stephen and Antoinette (Ann) were super friendly and checked up on our large group often. We will definitely be adding Bongos to our "Regulars" list of go-to restaurants each year when we return to Negril!
In addition to Bongos, the outside bar was great, and we returned for the resorts outdoor BBQ night buffet...the food was delicious and the live percussion conga players were terrific! Fyi: Even though we stay at a different hotel, I asked to see a room, and it had the same boutique feel that the restaurant had. Thanks Stephen & Ann!!

Dear guest, thank you for dining at our Bongos restaurant, the only fine dining experience along Negril ‘s seven mile beach . We are happy that you found the décor and theme of the restaurant to be just as exquisite as our mouthwatering cuisine. We hope that the next time you are dining at Bongos, you will be staying in one of our lovely rooms as well.

We stayed for a week in paradise: Sandy Haven Resort. This is an excellent place to relax, enjoy the sun and walk the seven mile white sandy beach. The owners and staff were welcoming, accommodating and went over and above to make our stay enjoyable. The food was a great mix of traditional Jamaicain fare; A la carte dinning available at the resort and many other options up and down the strip. Spacious accommodations with lush garden and ocean views also allowed us to watch perfect sunsets from our private balcony.
The friendly staff made a point of knowing who we were, and what we liked; genuine hospitality at it's finest.
Special thanks to owners Ann and Stephen Ueker, and Heather Roye, our coordinator, who helped plan our special day;) Thank you to all the staff especially Kimesha, Nikkesha, and Solomon. We look forward to our next stay!
