We were one of those families who religiously reviewed the Tripadvisor reviews on this one before visiting. We had also spent a week at Beaches Turks before, so had an idea about what the experience would likely be like. All in all, we had a great vacation (September 28th - October 5).
First thing, the people. Hands down, this is what makes the place special. They are SOOOO friendly, to both us and the kids, and consistently so...almost every single one of them....they actually LOVE to be there (as opposed to Turks which seemed more forced)....there are too many people to thank, as other commentors have said....but a few notables....first, our butlers Novia/Ricardo - fantastic - made our children Chloe and Lucas feel like royalty - same goes for Renato, June, and Ned at the beach bar. Oshane at the restaurant. The list goes on and on.....
Here are some more positives that come to mind. Beach, fantastic - better than Turks. Food, great as well, probably on par or a little better than Turks - they do a fantastic job of keeping it fresh and giving variety - our pizza on the beach is a Beaches favorite or ours! Pools and stuff, not as many as Turks, but very good - as the previous post noted, there was construction when we were there too, but if that pool wasnt being worked on it would be plenty of pool space. The property - much smaller than Turks, but we found it very well maintained and we actually liked the smaller size. Entertainment - I would definitely say that the stuff geared for kids is fantastic - Sesame Street all around, which the kids loved....the rest was good, but we were tired at the end of the day anyway. Red Lane Spa - great as well - clean, friendly, very relaxing...a bit expensive, but to be expected - call out to Colleen who gives a fantastic massage! Gym - really good - great cardio room and pretty good weight room...clean/modern. Rooms - we were upgraded so that always shades your opinion - however, we found the rooms to be clean, spacious and very inviting. Watersports - loved them - waterskiing, snorkeling, hobiecats, the works - all included - and the guys are really good there too - we went out on a snorkeling trip and there were only 3 people so they gave us an extra long trip and went in the water with us to give us a guided tour - really excellent.
The downsides are minimal - the drive to the resort is long (1-1.5 hours) and is twisty/turny so not good for car sick kids. The guys asking for jetski on the beach are a bit annoying, but they move on. But other than that, not a lot of bad things to say....would DEFINITELY go back.
