This was a trip of a lifetime.
We were upgraded to a river suite - which was AMAZING - as well as given 2 butlers Myron and Bernard. These guys were the greatest!!!!!! ALWAYS SMILING and no request was denied. (They would even bring coolers of beer and ham sandwiches to where we were camped out on the beach - it was great!!)
The resort is beautiful - the beach is terrific and there are so many things to do.... Margaritaville was a great party, Ricks Cafe was a great trip too (although I was too scared to jump off the cliff - my husband went twice).
We also did the Ocho Rios Dolphin Swim - although they DID NOT tell us that the bus trip to get there was going to be almost 7 hours each way due to the crazy traffic.
Had the best time, food was great, loved Jamaica.

My husband and I got married in Nashville, TN on October 17, 2008, and we left for Negril on the 19th. We arrived in Negril, and went through Customs. The lines were long, but it only took about 20 minutes. We got on a bus to go to the resort. I read all the reviews about how the ride is so terrible, and I get very car sick. The ride was not nearly as bad as what I thought. Yes, they are aggressive drivers, but nothing like what I had pictured in my head.
We get to the resort, and we go to the concierge's office. We had booked a Beachfront Walkout Concierge Suite. They told us we had been "upgraded" to a Honeymoon Concierge Suite. Well, I wanted to be on the beach, and this "upgrade" was set back away from the beach. It was also located on the 2nd story. I told the concierge I was not happy, and this was not what I had booked. I told her I was at least wanting a jacuzzi tub. She made a phone call, and we paid $325 to get a room at the River Suites. I didn't care about being on the 2nd floor anymore because the rooms were amazing. We had a butler. His name wasy Dwayne. He is AWESOME! We would recommend Dwayne if you get a butler. He is awesome. We have pictures of Dwayne serving us our 5 course dinner on our balcony! So, the room was fabulous. Definitely recommend the River Suties to anyone. The private pool is awesome. You have a spot reserved for you on the beach every day with a cooler of beer, water, and cokes.

The restaurants were pretty good. The Beachfront Grille was amazing. The grilled cheese with jerk chicken is fabulous. We also loved Kimonos. Japanese food in America is not nearly as good as Kimonos. I think you have to like the jerk sauces. Coming from Louisiana where there is a lot of spices in everything, it was just what we were looking for!

The beach was absolutely gorgeous. The water was so calm. We saw tons of little sting rays and starfish. The water is more clear down towards the River Suites, than closer to Hedonism. Yes, Hedonism is next door. Watch out if you are on that end of the resort! :)

We did do one excursion. We went on the Riverwalk tour. It wasn't what I was expecting. It was fun though. I thought there would be more water falls than that. The drive to the Riverwalk was very educational though. You get to see all these towns in Jamaica, and you drive up this mountain......which is kind of scary because it is basically one lane.

The pictures Sandals takes of you are definitely worth it. Yes, they are pricey. Unless you get other people to take tons of photos of you and your significant other, then they are well worth it. They took some really good photos of me and my husband at the different restaurants, at sunset, on the beach, etc.

All in all, we will definitely do all inclusive again. We will definitely do another Sandals vacation. It was a dream honeymoon, and we couldn't have imagined a better one. Definitely recommend this resort!!!

  • Liked — The beach and the ocean - and it was all inclusive with no kids
  • Disliked — The vendors were annoying, but the security guards were pretty good about telling them they needed to move along

We were approached often by men who wanted to sell us any sort of drug... they were at the rest stop on the way to the resort, men constantly strolling along the beach, and also in the water on jetskis and fishing boats... all asking if we wanted "smoke"

We were disappointed with the tolerance of the resort and the government regarding the drug dealers.

The food tasted great, but get your fill at the breakfast and lunch buffets because dinner will come in very small portions.

I do not feel it was right that some of the chairs near the pool were reserved early in the day by butlers for guests who took their time arriving.

My wife and I stayed at the Sadals Negril Beach Resort & Spa for our anniversary and had one of the best vacations yet! The resort was beautiful, clean and well maintained. The staff provided excellent customer service and were extremely attentive. The excursions were well planned by the resort and very safe and fun. We picked a room that offered the butler service and this was WELL WORTH the cost. We had two butler's, Refenisha and Clyde, who took care of all of our needs. From booking dinner reservations, bringing us drinks and lunch on the beach, to working out our schedule for excursions, they did it all! Their level of customer service exceeded any other vacation where we had received the same type of accomodations. This vacation was fantastic!

  • Liked — The Butler Services offered with the room accomidations.
  • Disliked — Nothing!

We visited Sandals Negril October 22-31, 2008. It was our third visit to a Sandals resort and we had a wonderful time at this one. We booked our trip through Amy McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services and she is great to work with.

Our US Air flights arrived ahead of schedule. Hooray! Going through Immigrations and Customs in Montego Bay were a breeze. We arrived at the Sandals lounge and were only there a few minutes before we were taken to the van. We were on our way to Negril about 45 minutes after landing. The driver was very informative and a great source of information on the area and Jamiaca in general. The drive took about one and a half hours. We enjoyed it and seeing that part of Jamaica on the way. We were greeted at Sandals Negril by several very friendly staff members along with the standard cool, wet towel and cold drinks.

We booked a Honeymoon Concierge Beachfront Walk-Out Room. When we arrived in the Concierge Lounge, we were told we had been upgraded to a butler suite. Sweet! We're sure it was thanks to Amy, our Travel Agent, and the nice people at Sandals Negril! One of the butlers took us to our room, checked us in and gave us all of the information we needed. He also gave us a cell phone so we could call them when we needed something. We were upgraded four levels to a Honeymoon Beachfront One- Bedroom Loft Suite in the Coconut Grove Building. We had a wonderful view of the beach and water from our porch on the second floor. The loft suite has a living room with bar and t.v. on the main floor and spiral stair case up to the bedroom with t.v. and bath area. There is AC on both levels so that was no problem and sometimes even got too cool for us. It was a great room and we enjoyed it.

We had a great gift package waiting in our suite from Amy, our Travel Agent, and the Sandals Negril Sales Team. It was a wonderful surprise filled with several items from Jamaica and the resort.

Our butlers were Bernard and Mark who couldn't do enough for us and learned our preferences very quickly. They surprised us every day with something special. And, made sure we were always happy and had what we needed or wanted. We cannot say enough good things about these gentlemen. They were great and we will request them when we go back!

We loved Sandals Negril and everything about it. It is a very narrow but long property with most everything located right on or very near the beach. For us, we were most interested in the beach and ocean. However, there are three pools (+ a pool strictly for scuba lessons) to cool off in also. None are huge but the layouts are nice and none of them were crowded.

We had great food in all the restaurants where we ate - the Bayside, 4Cs, the Sundowner and Barefoot by the Sea. The people in all of restaurants are so friendly and helpful. And, service was very good.

We ate lunch at the Grill every day and had the Jamaican patties, jerk chicken, hamburgers and/or grilled chesse. Vivian, Dwayne and all the staff there make the experience a good one. They work hard, are friendly, make great food and even entertain a bit with a little singing and dancing sometimes while preparing our lunch.

One of the very best meals we had was the Monday night Beach buffet/party right on the beach. There was everything you could think of to eat. Our favorites were the pepper shrimp, jerk chicken, curry lamb, oxtail stew and rice & peas. A highlight for us was the fresh coconut and coconut milk. That was an awesome meal. Frederic, the Food Services Manager, and all the food staff do a great job with all the food at the resort!

We discovered water sports on this Sandals trip after a few days and, then, wondered why it took us so long! Michael and all the guys at Water Sports (and ladies at the Dive Shop) are great to talk to, very helpful and informative. We went kayaking and one of the guys took us out on a Hobie Cat one day.

Snorkling is great there! We went out almost every day and sometimes twice a day and had a really good time. Captain Barrington, Mackey, Toby (the photographer) and Travis are great at what they do and loads of fun. We really enjoyed every trip and the entertainment to and from the reefs is something that should not be missed.

We walked south down the beach one day toward Negril and visited Beaches Sandy Bay next door to Sandals and Sandals Negril about a mile or so further down the beach. Both are very nice resorts and great places for families/kids. The beach is beautiful here, as well, with crystal clear water.

We went to Rick's Cafe one afternoon for drinks, to watch the cliff divers and listen to the great band there that evening. We'll go back there when in Negril again as it was a lot of fun.

Winston Anderson, the General Manager, and ALL the staff at Sandals Negril are wonderful and always making sure you are having a good time and enjoying your vacation. We are already planning a trip back to this resort next year.

We recommend Sandals Negril and Amy McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services to everyone. They ensure you have the best vacation possible!
