When you see only great reviews, you tend to worry if its true. In addition, the price is so high at the Caves that you tend to worry if its worth it.
We can genuinely say that although it was steep, we have no regrets at all. The pictures posted by others here do no justice to its actual beauty and the service and total atmosphere is hard to fathom until you actually experience.
As soon as you arrive (and you can get there before the 4pm check in time to get your money's worth for the first day) they prepare you a welcome cocktail and bring you a cool facial towel. The treatment stays that way the whole time.
There is no bad place to sit at the Caves. Whether near the pool overlooking the Sea or on a private ledge, the chairs are nice, the drinks are limitless, and the umbrella shades you from the sun.
Be sure you snorkel as much as you can. The fish are plentiful and not afraid of people. We saw spotted rays, and on the last day, a giant ray. Its amazing, and you can snorkel as much as you want. Its all included.
The food also exceeded our expectations, and we would consider ourselves to be food snobs to a degree. Everything was perfect with spices and tastes you cant get back home. The seafood was perfect, and ask for the combination of everything. We had tuna and lamb one night, and lobster tails and steak another.
The rooms are also incredible. We stayed in Macka Tree. It is an upstairs room with a huge window overlooking the Sea. Beautiful. The only negative is that this room is not air conditioned. There are overhead fans and a room fan, but its hot. I wouldnt go in the summer and had a little trouble sleeping. My wife had no problem. The room decorations and location were unreal though.
If we are lucky enough to be able to afford a special trip again in our lives, I would have a hard time imagining we wouldnt go back.
PS. The only other negative is the staff is not that responsive when you email. They will get to you eventually, but its not always fast. Better to pick up the phone. Also, they will not allow you to book cave dining in advance. You could get shut out. This doesnt seem fair either because you could reserve a room a year in advance and get nudged out by someone who happened to check in a day earlier. We got lucky and got to do it, but it doesnt seem like a fair policy. Either way though, the dining is romantic and great.
