When you see only great reviews, you tend to worry if its true. In addition, the price is so high at the Caves that you tend to worry if its worth it.

We can genuinely say that although it was steep, we have no regrets at all. The pictures posted by others here do no justice to its actual beauty and the service and total atmosphere is hard to fathom until you actually experience.

As soon as you arrive (and you can get there before the 4pm check in time to get your money's worth for the first day) they prepare you a welcome cocktail and bring you a cool facial towel. The treatment stays that way the whole time.

There is no bad place to sit at the Caves. Whether near the pool overlooking the Sea or on a private ledge, the chairs are nice, the drinks are limitless, and the umbrella shades you from the sun.
Be sure you snorkel as much as you can. The fish are plentiful and not afraid of people. We saw spotted rays, and on the last day, a giant ray. Its amazing, and you can snorkel as much as you want. Its all included.

The food also exceeded our expectations, and we would consider ourselves to be food snobs to a degree. Everything was perfect with spices and tastes you cant get back home. The seafood was perfect, and ask for the combination of everything. We had tuna and lamb one night, and lobster tails and steak another.

The rooms are also incredible. We stayed in Macka Tree. It is an upstairs room with a huge window overlooking the Sea. Beautiful. The only negative is that this room is not air conditioned. There are overhead fans and a room fan, but its hot. I wouldnt go in the summer and had a little trouble sleeping. My wife had no problem. The room decorations and location were unreal though.

If we are lucky enough to be able to afford a special trip again in our lives, I would have a hard time imagining we wouldnt go back.

PS. The only other negative is the staff is not that responsive when you email. They will get to you eventually, but its not always fast. Better to pick up the phone. Also, they will not allow you to book cave dining in advance. You could get shut out. This doesnt seem fair either because you could reserve a room a year in advance and get nudged out by someone who happened to check in a day earlier. We got lucky and got to do it, but it doesnt seem like a fair policy. Either way though, the dining is romantic and great.

This place is amazing and all the reviews are true. The staff will go out of their way to make sure you're happy and indulge your every whim. The food was consistently delicious and unique. The setting is beautiful and the sunsets are picture perfect. There is a special little hut with a hot tub that directly overlooks the sunset. The staff will draw your bath to coincide with the sunset, and you can enjoy the view while sipping champagne, one of the most romantic experiences my husband and I ever experienced. Our honeymoon was pure magic largely due to this stellar resort. We are going back for our first anniversary!

We just got back from five FABULOUS days at The Caves in Negril. This is our second trip to Jamaica and we already have planned to come back to The Caves next year. Upon arrival the staff immediately makes you feel at home and throughout our stay we were pampered like royalty.

We stayed in the “Sea Turtle” which is at the end of the resort property going toward “The Sands” bar. What an incredible room! We actually could look out our front window and see the ocean while lying in bed! Life does not get any better than that. The beautiful sound of the ocean pounding against the cliffs became the backdrop of our vacation. That wonderful sound lulling you to sleep every night is something we truly miss.

Words cannot describe the beauty of the resort. The breath-taking views of the Caribbean from virtually every square foot of the resort are without compare. The “very cool” caves rum and cigar bar and of course the “sunset” room cannot be missed. We loved being able to eat outside for every meal, especially the moonlit dinners on the roof top. The food and wine was always five stars and we enjoyed all the “special” rum drinks. Take advantage of the snorkeling and kayaking with Paul or make arrangements to visit the Mayfield Falls. If you venture out for some local food – Ossies and The Best In the West are highly recommended for jerk chicken and pork.

If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a big beach resort with five pools and seven restaurants – this is definitely not the place for you. The Caves is extremely private and intimate. However, if you want to TOTALLY relax; sun, swim, read and enjoy the other guests then you are in for a rare treat.

Give your soul a gift and put down your mouse and pick up the phone. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

We booked our vacation in large part because of the glowing Tripadvisor reviews. The reviews do not lie. The resort is beautiful and the staff are fabulous. I have never had so many people work so hard to make my stay perfect. Without the staff, it would just be another lovely small hotel; the staff make the Caves the heaven that it is.

If you need a beautiful place to unwind and worry about nothing, have wonderful drinks and food at your beckon call and nature's majesty at your doorstep, this is the place!

My wife and I spent a glorious week at the Caves in January. We spent the entire time in the Stardust which was slightly less luxurious than the rest but nonetheless suited us regarding its privacy and overall cozy amenities. Let me just emphasize that the PEOPLE are the Caves as if you take the time to relate warmly to them they respond immensely and proved terrific hosts and human beings which added another dimension to the service which was very good anyway. The food varies between gourmet and good. When they say all inclusive they mean it. The location can't be beat for Jamaica unless you are a very social vacationer and want a lot of things to stimulate you. At the Caves there is great swimming and Paul will take you snorkeling, kayaking and is a very very genial and responsive guide along with Edmond, Elvis, Alex, Richard and Fiona among others all of whom contributed to our ease. There is a fulltime open bar and it is not shy of fancier liqueurs etc and the place is small enough so you never eat in a crowd at least in January . Overall we had a lazy though rejuvenating time and made friends with the staff so benefited by their suggestions for anything from shopping to sightseeing. I fished twice and caught nothing, the fishing seems overworked and as I am a hardcore tuna fisherman I suggest you take a pass on the charter fishing, Careful, you can get fat here as snacky desserts are available 24/7 though you can pick from a menu of fresh juices and fruits etc. For me I learned that Jamaicans are a proud bunch and if you relate to them they will return 'respec an luv' back a hundred fold. The Caves should be proud for retaining its charm and earthy and elegant community. There is an underground Cave/bar that would have folks standing around the block to get in anywhere else, as it features great drinks and a magical, unique ambiance with waves lapping under the rocky roof and candlelight as you sip your drink ... beyond romantic it enchants; even the bartender who might even let you make your own drink if you care to. Besides you and your sidekick might be the only two people there, Overall the Caves is a delightful memory and I hope the managers don't change a thing( hmmm...except maybe bake better bread and rolls) as its emphasis seems to be on an open handed naturalness designed by an owner (who I met) who reflects the unpretentious warmth of a chosen staff who respond with genuine openess and great service. The only visitor who couldn't have a great time here comes with a grimace in the first place and probably leaves the same way. The staff are too honest to kiss butt, they are real folks and like the Maroons who liberated Jamaica, recognize ugly when they see it... so just make nice and your holiday will be very very well served. We loved the place and left renewed in more ways than one. Careful with the help yourself brownies they are deadly. Ya mon, we lived well. Its hammock time , float time and dream time and book time...this place ain't for cavemen, its for sybarites!! Ditch your watch. ( Philip & Rita)
