As I write this I know that I am going to regret letting out the best secret spot on Negril beach. Coming back to our second visit did I realize what I suspected on the first visit, that WB is an oasis in the somewhat crowded area of Negril. With so many things to do just a short walk (or cab) away, you can retreat youself in the properties lush botanical grounds. After sunning on the waters edge you can find an abundence of shade under the many palms and away from the beach sales folks trying to interest you in fresh juices, cigs or hair braides. I would have to suggest though that if the gentleman on the bicycle with the cooler filled ice cream comes by, the Rum raisin ice cream is awsome. Don't be afraid to mingle with the staff, they will bend over backwards to make you feel at home. Have the chef prepare you dinner and enjoy a game of domions at the Wb's private beach tiki bar. There are also many other dinning and drinking options just a short walk away with a must stop at "Tony's bar" at the Gatehouse for a red strip and a game of Connect Four.
If you want to stay a sterile commercial "Sandals" this is not the place for you. If you want to stay in a chill, relaxing, no fuss cool cottage on the beach let James and his staff (Bim, Lilly, Chris, Mrs. G, Joesph and little RJ.) take care of you.

The Whistling Bird is not just a place to stay... it's an experience!
We just returned from what was voted "Best Family Vacation Ever" - largely due to the magic of The Whistling Bird. The Bird is a quaint "bed and breakfast" style resort - unlike the sanitized world of the "all inclusives." If your looking for an intimate resort with real-world funk - this is the place. The setting is amazing, the staff are outstanding and the food is among the best you'll find - and it's all at your pace. Tell the Chef what you want and when you want it and you'll be treated to some the best food you've ever tasted. Ask for anything, and the staff will bend-over backwards to accommodate your request. Need help finding the best excursions? - "no problem" (national motto). You'll be on a first name basis with some of the coolest people in Negril within days of your arrival. We were treated as their only guests, and feel as though we've gained many new friends in the staff and groupies of the Whistling Bird. My advice... book now, and start saving for as many days as you can afford!

“been there 20 times, guess I love it”

Whistling Bird Resort

Have stayed 20 times at WB. Obviously I love the place. The location is the very best on the beach. The landscaping is incredible and I have obviously watched it mature over the years. Our first time there it had only one set of cottages and we stayed in the owners place. We have watched the staff grow over the years with Lily being about 18 the first time we were there. Most of the old staff have retired or left, but the new staff have taken their places and have grown dear to my heart too. Each time I enter the gates at the bird I feel like I have arrived at friends homes and the hugs begin. A word of warning, watch Lily she'll beat you at any game you play every time, she is tops. If you want to lounge all day and chill, this is the place to go. I noticed someone complained about the pillows, I have to admit they should be changed at least yearly, but I just take my own and if that is someone's only complaint, the bird has done a good job.
