Three friends and I stayed at Banana Shout and really enjoyed it. We had our own little house with two rooms and a balcony, and the place overlooked a nice little cove. The cove had cliffs to dive off (or a ladder for those less enthusiastic) plus a big 4-person float so relax on. Lots of room elsewhere too, places to sit outside and the like. The staff was friendly and helpful, making us coffee in the mornings and if we asked, Jamaican breakfast (plantains, greens, and so on.) They'd also run errands for us (make sure to tip) and there's also a driver, housekeeper and security guard. There was also a cool old Rasta guy who hung out there.
The place is right near a little grocery store with the necessities and next door to Rick's, a big, popular tourist bar. It's also walkable to a bunch of other really good local (non-touristy) restaurants. A cab down to the beach area costs about $10.
Milo, the owner, is also really cool and knows good bars on the beach to hang out at.
The rooms are definitely a little rustic (no A/C, but we didn't need it) but they were clean and the shower worked just fine.
