“Awesome Resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

We loved it! Can't wait to go back for a second stay!! If you want something relaxing and beautiful, this is the place for you. Just remember to request a room away from the road. We met so many people who have stayed there numerous times. Just remember to bring ear plugs. The tree frogs and birds are VERY noisey which distured our sleep a bit.

Room Tip: "Room away from the road" 712 was great!!

It's difficult to not be redundant in highlighting all of the many reasons as to why this resort is so special. Beyond the physical beauty of the grounds and the nicely appointed guest rooms, I'd have to say the most compelling attribute for visiting SATP is the couteous and friendly staff who, without exception, have great attitudes and place the highest priority in making its guests feel welcome and comfortable. From the first day of our trip, actually even before it began through communications with the front desk manager, Kadian McPherson, we were extended a graciousness rarely found these days by the entire staff.

The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for those seeking an alternative to the 24/7 loud and obnoxious scenes at the all-inclusive resorts nearby in Negril. The food was very good, with many options available and a changing dinner theme each evening. The beach bar and grill are also great and staffed with experienced, skillful chefs and bartenders.

We sailed one of the resorts catamarans (a small Hobie), did some snorkeling, went to Rick's Cafe (of course) and Xtabi, rented a moped and explored the area, but, by far, the best activity was the horseback riding within 15 minutes of the resort that not only included riding in the nearby hills and along the beach, but ended with a 'swim' on the back of the horse in deep water (see attached photo)!

We hope to soon return to this beautiful taste of paradise!

Room Tip: Most all of the resort is quiet, with the possible exception of those rooms situated very close to t...

Sunset At The Palms gave us another awesome vacation to remember. Our third visit and looking to go back again. When we arrived we were greeted by " Welcome Home" and did it ever feel like it. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The grounds and landscaping gives you a feel that no other resort can give you. The beach is one of the best we've ever been too.

We stayed at Sunset at the Palms for 10 days with 19 of our wedding guests in April 2013. We all had an amazing vacation/wedding, everyone said they would come back again. It is an intimate cozy, beautiful resort to spend time with friends and not get lost. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very original and comfortable. The staff were always pleasant and helpful, there was always someone around to help you or get something for you if need be. Our wedding was beautiful, Kadian and the wedding planner were so helpful in planning and making sure that our day was perfect. The ambiance, the decorations, the food and service made our wedding everything we hoped for. I would highly recommend this resort to everyone, we have nothing bad to say about it. Can't wait to go back!!

We just finished a week at Sunset and though we love smaller, more boutique style hotels and resorts this was smaller than most. Very quiet besides a few groups in for weddings but overall very pleasant and we were able to rest and read a lot. Loved the Lotus Leaf restaurant which is only open a few nights of the week and always has the same menu but it is excellent and air conditioned. All other meals are buffet style which can get old after a week but we really loved all the fresh fruit and the true Jamaican dishes they served. The air conditioned workout room was very hot and most of the equipment was very old or broken. Drinks were a bit hit or miss depending on the bartender. Wifi is only available in the lobby area and there is only one computer in the internet cafe so bring your own tablet or laptop to stay connected. Overall a very relaxing week!

Room Tip: Loved the balcony on 618 as it does not face the walkway or another balcony - very private

Our stay at both locations was wonderful. The resort at Montego Bay is really family orientated, the resort at Negril is small and very relaxing. The staff at both resorts were very helpful, if you wanted or needed anything they were right there to help out. You feel that the staff want you to enjoy the Jamaican experience. The resort at Negril is small and so relaxing ,you get to socialize well with other quests. The grounds are like a tropical paradise with plants and beautiful flowers and birds. Every room is isolated, no one over you or under you. A nice lounge seat on the deck for those relaxing moments. The food was excellent. The walk across the street to get to the beach was not an issue. The beach was beautiful.
The only thing that i would have liked to have seen was more music being played by the pool, nice to hear the reggae music .
Jamaica is beautiful ,definately would return to either the resort in Montego Bay or Negril

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room that is not close to the road, I think those rooms are in sections 100-300

Last trip we came with family and friends, July 2010. This time it was for our 30th anniversary. What separates SATP from many resorts is the feeling of family. There are places where you can go where they wait on you hand and foot but you get the feeling that staff is'nt really allowed to associate with guests. Here you won't lack that service but you sense a friendly at ease staff that wants you to enjoy the Jamaican experience. The friendliness of the staff spills over to other guests and the next thing you know is that you are talking to everyone. This place is like a pair of old shoes that just feels good the moment you step in. The grounds are like a tropical paradise with plants, flowers and birds. Every room is isolated, no one over you or under you. Your nearest neighbor only shares your stairway. The Jamaican food is fantastic here. We went to the spa for couples massages, my wife - a facial and I had a coffee scrub, all recommended. Take the morniing nature walk with Shorty. He is a knowledgeable charactor with a dry sense of humor. If you want to take a tour look for John Wayne VIP Tours. He is a charming guy that makes you feel safe and loves his country and culture. We used him on the last trip for several days. This time we just wanted to spend the day with him and let him pick our destinations. He bought some fish and cooked lunch for us while we were in Rockland's Bird Sanctuary. He's a great friend. He'll keep you laughing too. We know that tipping is included in all-inclusives but that is so minimal. The staff goes beyond expectations so we did tip like some other reviewers did. My wife can't wait for our next trip here!
