We were at CN from November 3rd through the 10th. This was our 4th trip to CN, the last one having been 6 months ago. This time, in addition to my beautiful wife, my mother and father accompanied us. To be honest, this visit to CN was the best one so far, and we are excitedly looking forward to our next one in May/June of 2013. I have been seeing CN reviews from other repeaters lately saying that they thought that things haven't been as good as their other trips, but in my opinion, each subsequent trip to CN that we have taken have gotten better and better each time. This trip was absolutely the best one ever!
There isn't much that I can say about CN that hasn't already been reviewed. It is still the same laid back, wonderful resort, with an incredible staff. The food quality is excellent, the drinks are excellent, there are many fun activities put on by the staff, and the staff go out of their way to make sure that you are truly enjoying your vacation. The beach is absolutely stunning and kept extremely clean. The rooms, in our opinion, are beautiful and we love them just the way they are. We have always booked Deluxe Garden Rooms, and we love being in blocks 1 through 5, with block 4 being our favorite. The views of the lush vegetation looking towards the spa is our favorite view.
We saw evidence that they are taking good care of the resort, in that both Cassava and Heliconia/the beach grill have recently had new roofs installed. While we were there, they were refurbishing the boardwalk between the dive shop and the spa. Our room had a brand new air conditioner and we were told at the repeater's dinner by the GM of the resort, who I had the privilege of sitting beside, that several entire blocks have received new units already and the others will follow.
We saw three resort policy changes this trip. One is that you must call to have your mini-bar re-stocked and be present in your room while it is re-stocked. I know that this was viewed by many here on Trip Advisor to be a bad thing, but honestly it was no big deal at all. We called to have ours re-stocked one time during our stay. We were asked on the phone what we wanted and it showed up literally 5 minutes after we got off the phone. Another huge change to us was that there was Red Stripe cans in the refrigerator of our room and no Caribe. Thank you SO much Couples, you listened to us! The last change that we noticed is that you no longer need a receipt for your beach towels when checking out. Again, another great change, Couples!
The staff was so attentive to our every need and we were treated as old friends. One highlight of our trip was my 70 year old father being given the resort course SCUBA instruction in the dive pool and taken on a wonderful dive in the ocean by Sugar. This was on my father's bucket list and we were so proud of him for doing it. Sugar was so kind and patient and was at his side every step of the entire experience. Sugar wasvery protective of my father and so reassuring. I can't say enough about the gift that Sugar gave our family. We will remember this highlight of our trip for a lifetime.
The staff was absolutely phenomenal. Not once were we ever passed on a sidewalk or anywhere else that we were not acknowledged in some way by the staff when passing by. It just felt to us that they were even happier this trip. From the bartenders to the groundskeepers, the staff makes you feel like you are at home. We actually canceled our reservations at Otaheite on our last night (which was also lobster night), which we were very much looking forward to, because one of our favorite staff was working at Lychee that night. When we got to Lychee, not only did we receive wonderful service, when we were brought what we ordered on the Lychee menu, she surprised us by bringing us each the lobster entree from Otaheite too! It was another highlight of our trip and the memory of that night will be with us forever.
My mother and father had a ball at CN. They mentioned that they were doing their 50th
wedding anniversary vow renewal at CSA next December. There were so many of the staff wanting to attend it, that they were actually thinking of moving it to CN!
We have loved all of our trips to CN. Each time, we think that it can't get any better than the last, but the staff always seems to outdo themselves. The hardest part about leaving at the end of our vacation isn't leaving the resort itself, it is leaving behind our friends who work there. Thank you so much, CN, for the best trip yet!
