“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

My 4 year old grand daughter and I stayed at Country Country and had a lovely stay. The staff was wonderful- friendly, helpful and made you feel at home. The cottages were very comfortable, the restaurant was pretty good. I look for places that are reasonably priced, clean, safe and friendly and Country Country was all those things. Negril is a little isolated, but any time we needed, they would call one of their drivers and we would get dropped off and picked up promptly.

This is our second trip back to Country Country. We love this place! It's a beautiful hotel location on an amazing beach. What sets Country Country apart from the rest of the hotels in Negril is the staff: Wayne, Omar, Opal, Ernie, Angie Super and the staff are AMAZING. These folks absolutely make the stay fun and enjoyable. My family had such a great time Country Country. We will be back.

This was perfectly timed towards the end our holiday in Jamaica as we were ready for the beach. Country country is close but not too close to the town centre and the beach is lovely. There is a Ribbit for children (and grown ups) to play on in the sea. You can buy lovely freshly made fruit juices for $5 for a litre bottle and there are also men who come around with freshly baked goods that you can purchase from your perch on the beach. There is a fridge in each room and if you get room 209 the swimming pool is literally opposite your room and will be for you as there did not seem to be anyone else using this facility when we were there. Our own personal pool. Again the staff were lovely and recommended a few things for us to do while we were there. One of the most memorable is the Blue Hole (but not the most famous blue hole in Jamaica)- ours was a more local attraction. It is an underwater spring but to get to water level from the ground you have to make this 25 meter jump. It's ok as the water is 35 meters deep and there are boys who are ready and waiting to show you how safe it is- preferably for a tip (and they deserve it as without them you would never make the plunge). The hotel staff were lovely and friendly and the rooms were lovely and cosy and you could sleep for ever if you left the blinds done up in the night time as it created a perfect sleeping environment. The menu changes every night and is always pleasant and surprising. We have been warned about the American spring break though and that there are a lot of young revellers there during that time- so I would say be wary what time of the year you visit Negril and if it's spring break! Luckily our holiday did not coincide with this:-)

Room Tip: The beach is so close and the sound systems so big that if you want to sleep you just have to do it...

We stayed at Country Country in January. We had an amazing time. Check in was easy, the staff friendly and accommodating. Our cottage was simple but clean and comfy. We had a view of the ocean and loved our private balcony. Our first evening we had a candle lit dinner on the beach, the food was perfect and the evening beautiful. We are so pleased we decided to have dinner on Friday, although they serve beach side tables nightly it depends on the weather. Each night or late afternoon after that it rained. Breakfast was included in the stay. We enjoyed the banana pancakes. Every day a local fisher man comes in with his catch. We bought fresh lobster and our chief prepared them with a lovely salad at the time we requested. The meal was so delicious! We did two tours and enjoyed our time and the beach greatly. Choose a cottage a bit off the beach, chances are you will still see the ocean. Also, an upper cottage has a private balcony. If we had an all day tour we lit a candle and sat out there in our pj's and relaxed with a drink and snack to end the day. Margaritaville is a few doors down on the beach. One night we heard the music into the early hours of the morning. Don't let Margaritaville put a check in your thought to stay at Country Country it was not a problem. Margaritaville serves good food, there are sooo many nice places to eat along the beach.

Room Tip: Choose a cottage a bit off the beach chances are you will still see the ocean. Also, an upper cottag...

Nice position on beach bit of building work going on next to our chalet not too bad though, rooms were always kept very clean possibly one of the best hotels on the beach but was let down by the restaurant, the staff were not very welcoming not even a good morning or good evening when we arrived to dine and the menu was very limited even at dinner, a bit more staff training wouldn't go amiss. Not a specific hotel problem but there was always a wiff of cannabis when walking along the beach and the odd drug pusher lurking, the local police need to get that sorted

We reserved our room by email. The staff was very prompt and answered all our questions. Unfortunately we were unable to stay more than 4 days unless we wanted to move to another room across the road from the beach.
We decided to take the 4 days and move down the beach to a different hotel.
Wish we had stayed here and not moved as the beach was much nicer at Country Country.
Country is not far from Margaritaville but far enough that your not bothered by the going's on there.
The beach is some of the nicest on Long Bay or 7 mile which ever you want to call it. We stayed in room 523 a lower unit. Nicely decorated and has a tropical feel. Each unit has a small porch you can enjoy. We felt very safe through out our stay. Security is very good here.
Breakfast is included with your stay and we enjoyed going to breakfast each morning right on the beach in the little thatch hut. Staff is friendly and the food was good. You may charge items to your room which makes it nice when you just want to relax in your swim suit all day.
There is an area for beach loungers. Get there early if you want to be in the front row. Each morning the juice guy walked by selling fresh squeezed juices of your choice. Very good. We bought several bottles during our stay. $5.00 us for a 750 ml rum bottle full. Sit long enough and anything you want will walk by.
We really enjoy swimming and walking the beach which we did often. Walk a little swim a little have a drink. Soooo nice to just be a beach bum for a week and not worry about a thing.
We had one issue with our room which was brought up to management and should be corrected by now. Our bathroom smelled of sewage. Faint smell that was only noticeable at times. When I realized it I shut the bathroom door and opened the louvers in the bathroom. No more problem. I suspect the wax seal was bad on the toilet.
The room was adequate. The bed was 2 twin beds pushed together and called a queen. Not that comfortable but passable for the time we were there. There was a small refrigerator which was very handy and small TV which we turned on once.
After having stayed here I would recommend you book early and get an upstairs room as the balcony is more private. Rooms at the front closest to the beach were nice.
Looks like they are adding more rooms. Hopefully this will not cause the beach to get too crowded. Path thought the grounds is very nice brick work. Unfortunately it rained allot during our stay and the drainage is poorly done so we had to wade through the grounds in a few spots. Only a few inches deep. Maintenance seemed to be working on a solution when we were there.
The pool is very small and we did not use it. With the beautiful beach just a few steps away we chose the ocean.
Thoroughly enjoyed our walks up and down the beach each day. Vendors were not bad this year. Just a no thank you and most left you alone. Food is easy to come by and prices vary from are you kidding me to reasonable. Drink prices same deal just walk and read the signs look for a deal.
We saw several sea rays gliding out in the water. A large starfish visited and posed for pictures as we swam one day.
Jet ski ban was in effect during our stay which was great. No noisy jet ski's ramming around making noise and bothering you.
Seems like the fish are enjoying the break too.
Had a great time and hope we can return sometime.
