“Calm beach, mediocre service and food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We spent 5 days at the Riu Tropicale Resort down the beach for a week before coming to Breezes which had been sold out the first week in Negril. We had stayed at Breezes in The Dominican Republic and really enjoyed it.

While the garden view really does have an incredible garden with a majestic 400 year old tree, the staff, service and food pale in comparison. Our room has an ant problem. Five of the 8 shower heads don't work properly, the room is musty smelling, and there is no way you should stay here if you have severe food allergies! They don't know what dairy is. It is not terribly clean around the resort, glasses and garbage strewn about the beach and cove, even in the trees in places. None of the staff seem to care to pick it up.

I went to inquire about the sea kayak, and the water sport guy wouldn't even get out of his seat to talk with me. He waved me over. I am not difficult to please, just do your job with a little enthusiasm and respect for the guests who pay good money for the experience of a super inclusive.

I could imagine this property was one of the best 30 years ago, but not now. By comparison of two resorts in 10 days, I would definitely book again at Riu Tropicale and would skip the Breezes Negril experience.

As I entered the Hotel there was some confusion with the reservations. The reception was very nice we didnt have any issues and our room was awesome. The people at Breezes were amazing. I had no problems and felt like they knew me for years. I have absolutley no complaints. Breezes needs to be on your next trip!!!!

Room Tip: Go to the Clothing optional side!

Went to Breezes recently for the first time for my wedding and honeymoon. Had a fantastic stay. The wedding was perfect and our wedding coordinator, Tannif Turner, was extremely helpful and saw to every detail, including ideal weather and arranging for the legendary Gov't Mule to play our wedding. :) Our room was clean and spacious with a lovely view of the beach and bay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The grounds were lovely and very well maintained. When I go back to Negril, I am definitely going to stay at Breezes!

It was terrible from the beginning to the very end (though my perioud of stay took just 2 days cuz it was totallly unbearable)! Nobody ever in the travel agency told me that it's a nude resort and this shoked me the most. So, anywhere you go, especially when it's a pool area, people kissing almost naked and do other private things over there which is absolutely unacceptable. I expected to get some rest and relaxation for my $ 3000 and got the nightmare with sparrow-size mosquitoes what bit me every minute, with unfriendly lazy staff and uneatable food. I returned next day to Boston and filed the court petition against that horrible place. So, people - if you don't want to lose money, temper and time- never go there EVER!

Room Tip: There were no good rooms on that island!

We were so impressed with this laid back, yet very, very nice resort property! Nestled in a gorgeous cove in quiet Negril, Jamaica, the property is perfectly landscaped, with lots of cool, white sand beaches and water sports. We came for a concert event and stayed for 5 days. Tannif Turner, the wedding coordinator and concierge there, even helped us get married! The rooms were lovely, spacious, cool and very clean. It was peaceful and quiet at night. The food at the buffet was wonderful! Very gourmet-ish, with a nice selection of American and Jamaican cuisines. The restaurants did a lovely job as well, with delicious main courses and interesting appetizers. The staff without exception were lovely and helpful, and extremely friendly. We recommend Breezes very highly and look forward to going back next year for our first anniversary!

Room Tip: If you want quiet, then get an ocean view, rather than ocean front, room.

We went 10-12 years ago when it was Grand Lido Negril and much has changed. So my comparison is from our previous 2 trips then and the service level has definitely declined but the rates have not. There is now no room service for most rooms, rooms are dated and in need of updates, Our whirlpool tub was not fully functioning, there are steps for the tub and after day one we never received a bath mat for the floor, making it very dangerous. One of the eating areas, the Stone House was closed as well as the hot tub there. They no longer provide snorkeling gear, you have to bring your own. The entertainment staff were very lackadaisical and made little effort to get guests involved. Granted some may have a fine time here but when you compare it to superb service and nice facilities that used to exist here, we were extremely disappointed and will not be back.

I stayed here this past week for a concert event, which was excellent. The entertainment staff at this resort is great. They're lively, nice, and do the best they can to make sure everyone is having fun at all times. The bartenders here are also amazing and attentive. Gotta love the 'hummingbird' and the 'blue hawaiian'! Without these two groups of people, our stay would've been terrible.

We had no hot water for the week which was a big problem. At times it was luke-warm, but we found ourselves taking the quickest shower possible just to get it over with. This was very disappointing because the shower looks so impressive with all these knobs and whistles, we were so excited! However, only 2 knobs worked and it was a cold shower.

The food was mediocre. Breakfast was the best meal. The oatmeal and french toast were fantastic! The lunch buffet was decent.. the jerk chicken was yummy, and the pasta station seemed to be the place to be. The french and hibachi restaurants were the best, and the 24/7 cafe was alright.. there was just a long wait time. It was impossible to get reservations for the restaurants. They would mess up the number of people, or they would say there is no more room.. but when you looked inside, only 2 tables were seated. HUH??? It was almost like going to ultra exclusive restaurants -- except, this is an all inclusive resort and the restaurants were empty due to the concert event.

There was a banquet the last night of our stay which had the best food of the entire trip. So, we know it's possible to have great food, but where is it the rest of the stay?? Although I must say, the bread there is amazing and the lamb chops at the French restaurant are a MUST.

The beaches were alright as were the pools. Nothing to jump up and down about. We heard they were bought out and would be updated by next year. Here's hoping for better food, updated rooms, and updated restaurants! If I didn't have to go there for the concert event, I'm not sure I'd ever stay here again.

Also, there is no WiFi. Only in the lobby... if you're lucky.
