“Breezes Grand Negril Resort and Spa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

My name is Candice B. and I travelled to Breezes Negril December 15-21, 2012. I had some concerns at first because of all the other comments I read but let me tell you this..experience it for yourself. I had a wonderful time. They went above and beyond my expectations. The rooms were clean EVERYDAY, fresh towels, linen, service was excellent, food was good, really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the Reggae Grill. Food was also excellent at Munansan and La Piacere. Renae, Tesha, DJ Stunner, Francois, Rohan, Buchannon, Andrene, Martino, Cornell, Miguel, Michael, Deiji, Delroy and Denton went above and beyond to take care of me and my friend. I will be returning to Breezes and I suggest you do the same.

Room Tip: Ask for a oceanfront view so that you don't have to hear the road traffic on the beachfront side...

This was our second trip to Breezes Negril. Our favorite aspects of the property include the location (the beach is beautiful and the ocean is calm), the water sports (snorkeling, kayaking, paddle-boarding included; scuba included during Scuba Week), and the staff. We also enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the Clothing Optional area of the resort, which includes its own beach area, swimming pool, hot tub, bar and grill.

While we agree with some of the other reviews regarding the age of the property and state of the rooms and furnishings, we have not found any of these things to detract from the overall experience. The linens and towels are clean and the bed and pillows are comfortable. For the amount of time actually spent in the room, the accommodations are plenty adequate.

The quality of the food is quite good. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style and offer a variety of options, including hot and cold foods and made-to-order items such as omelets, pasta, and sandwiches. Dinner is available in several restaurants and/or buffet-style, depending on the night. The restaurants are quite good, with multiple, appropriately-sized courses, broad variety of entree choices, and very nice presentation and flavor.

The staff arrange various daytime and nighttime activities for guests; however, this is certainly a quieter resort without a wild night life. We have found that this atmosphere fits with our view of a perfect, relaxing vacation; though it may not be ideal for those looking for late nights and a more party-like atmosphere.

As noted before, this was our second stay at Breezes Negril, and we are looking forward to making this our regular December vacation spot for many years to come.

Room Tip: The main road going through Negril runs behind nearly all of the resorts, including Breezes. We rec...

this place is simply horrible from the run down rooms, to the recycled food that they use from lunch to dinner not to mention that by 8 pm it's more like a funeral home than a resort and the worst part it's not cheap at $500 a night!! there are so many better choices than this place in not only jamaica but dominican republic & mexico.i'm really blown away by the positive reviews they must be from all the people who go on the all nude beach which was always livelier and more packed than the non nude....:(

Room Tip: any where but here!!

The Breezes Grand property and people still hold the tradition and mindest of the Grand Lido legacy. The property itself is showing some age which some would term "charm", but the management and staff work hard to truely make you feel that this is "Home away from home" even with the potential of a new owner. It may have lost a half step off the Grand Lido of years past, but its still at the top of my list!

This was the sixth vacation we have taken at this property and again we enjoyed not only the people, but the wide range of great food, the beaches, the bars, the hot tubs, and the other various activities and entertainment! The weather was a bit windy on some days, but that did not keep us from smiles, only from enjoying the clear snorkeling waters on a few days.

Admittedly, the property could use some updates to the physical parts, but the people and the personalized way of making you feel welcome, showing they are happy to see you and they do all they can to make your stay memorable make for a wonderful vacation. This extends all the way from general manager to chefs to servers to bartenders to grounds keepers to housekeeping to entertinment staff to watersports to everyone.

And, although I did not personally use the spa/massage services, my wife did and she said they were amazing too!

The activites were many, watersports was accomodating, and the entertainment staff was doing their job in full swing. The beaches were great and well well kept. The walks along the beach off the resort seemed a bit cleaner/nicer than in previous years, but the number of families with small kids playing at the beach made me appreciate even more the 16 yrs and older policy of the Breezes Grand.

Last year we vacationed for three weeks in Australia (Sydney, Cairnes, and the Great Barrier Reef areas) rather than at the Breezes Grand. It was clear to us that although going around the world and snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef was a bucket list type adventure, the snorkeling around Negril is more enjoyable and as well the hospitality even better. All at only a 4 hour flight away rather than about 24 hours to get there!

Best:
The staff and managemnt; The other guests of a small property like this are very friendly as well.

Worst:
There were some temporary beach towel availability problems and hot tub temperature control irregularities.

Note:
This is a relatively small property compared to the 1000+ room resorts. This means everyone is close to the beach and amenities. From our walkout patio, it was about 60 feet to the beach and 100 feet to the bar and hot tub!

Room Tip: Jr Beachfront rooms are a little closer to the roadway and may have some noise. Ground floor rooms...

Services are exceptional. Staff is very friendly and courteous. We spent our honeymoon here. We had originally reserved a garden view room, but they voluntarily upgraded us to an ocean view at no additional charges. Restaurants are wonderful. There are several of them on site. Excellent amenities. The staff literally seems to know every guest. Very clean rooms and property overall. Great entertainment. Hope they keep this great service up!

Just spent December 8-December 14th at our favorite place! We were also there in May and booked a return trip after coming home. Many negative comments have been written recently about Breezes and a change in the food, service etc. due to an impending change in ownership but having just been there this year and re-visiting in 6 months I can truthfully say our stay was just as wonderful as the last time. We did upgrade this time to a full beachfront suite which was really nice and spacious. The staff was still the warm, caring, helpful and friendly staff we remember. We ate at all the restaurants at the resort, including the beach party and the food was plentiful and prepared well. The resort did a really great job of setting up a wonderful beach buffett complete with linens and glassware transforming the beach area into a very well appointed dining area.We did not notice any shortage of alcoholic beverages or premium brands. We had no room issues with air-conditioning, shortage of towels etc.

We look forward to returning again as we are sure that whomever purchases this very beautiful property will maintain the current management and staff who do a terrific job in making sure that their guests have a wonderful and memorable vacation experience.

Room Tip: Second floor beach front allows a better water view! An upgrade to a full suite as opposed to a min...
