For all who have never been. Yes there can be alot of activity going on but you also meet the nicest people. We are nudists, not swingers, but enjoy meeting everyone. Once you take it all off and relax (it only takes 5 minutes at the most) believe me I never thought I could do it, there is no longer the need to put on the ritz so to speak. You no longer have anything to hide. Who cares if you are a clerk in a store or a lawyer for a major company? You are now equal. We have met lifelong friends there with no sex involved. The staff are wonderful. Yes, they will sit down to eat with you. So what? We're in their country, their home. We welcome them at our table. We hope to see our family at HedoII in April.

This is an honest account of our stay at Hedonism II in January 2009. This was our first visit to Jamaica and first to Hedo although we have stayed at Desire (in Mexico) previously.

The trip was a total disaster and completely underwhelming. The theme for everything at the resort was one of absence of class. For a hotel charging ~$400 a night we expected the resort to have a certain minimum level of class and service which unfortunately was absent.

To clarify though, there were older travelers at the resort who did enjoy themselves and the resort does have it positives.

First the positives: the beach is very pretty, and the grounds of the resort pretty well maintained. Sunset and sunrise were very nice. The automatic booking of our shuttle back to the airport was nice too. For older travelers there are lot of other older travelers to hang out with.

Now for the negatives:
1) Biggest is the lack of control of who is on the resort property, who is on the beach, etc. There are many random gawkers who will come on to the resort property, either to sell souvenirs, or to just stare at the guests. I don't mind having a clothing optional/romantic vacation with other guests but random strangers who stop boats a few feet off the water and stare were unacceptable. Since we were there during a lifestyle week there was a lot of activity even on the prude side of the beach. We watched as individuals who looked like either employees or just random passers by would sit very close to the guests and just stare. The daily vendors on the beach were a nightmare as well.

2) The casual service. some might say casual is good, but we hated how the staff would sit at the same tables, drink casually, completely taking away any "upscale" feeling there was to the resort. Basically entertainment staff, waiters etc all eat with you, drink with you, wear inconsistent uniforms that have never been ironed, and basically look like they were picked purely based on lowest cost.

3) Over crowding - The resort was full but all of the activities are focused on the "nude" side of the resort, therefore at any point in time there is absolutely no way to get in to the nude pool or jacuzzi unless you are ok with touching someone else. We were not ok with this. Considering the amount of sexual activity that happens the crowding is likely dangerous as well.

4) High pressure towards sexual activity. The resort is completely focused on sex, and combined with (3) above, there is absolutely no way around it. Some guests focused on sexual activity will be extremely rude and will be in your face, this may be a positive for some but for us after our great experience in Mexico this was way too much. Specially since the average age of guests was 20 years higher than our own.

4) Lack of flexibility for anything. Would you like to eat 10 mins sooner than your 7pm reservation (which the restaurant has tables for), no not possible, come back in 10 minutes, would you like to check in early since your bus came in early, no not possible come back at 3 (hotel was nice enough to let us have lunch while waiting thouhg). Could you sign us up for the internet access while we wait, no not possible until after checked-in. Could you give us a container to take water back to the room in? No not possible go back to your room and bring the jug there.

5) Most importantly a large part of the crowd that was there was largely composed of repeat guests who seemed to find the nudity, alcohol, and lewd jokes enough entertainment to keep them coming back. Talking of alcohol, it is served in tiny plastic cups, classy indeed!

6) No balconies (at least in the garden view room we were in), we were completely boxed in with a glass window.

7) The food: definitely an afterthought here, no pride taken in the food itself - extremely mediocre

8) I have no idea how people think this makes a good romantic getaway or a honeymoon destination, unless you picture sleeping / flirting with someone other than your spouse all day is romantic.

I can go on with negatives like the forced dinner on one night where people were forced to share tables on the beach and had no other food options. How the immigration guy snickered at us when we gave our cards showing hedo 2 as the destination, how terrible the service was at the transfer desk where the baggage helper was sullen and unhelpful and then demanded a tip.. etc

In conclusion if you are middle-aged an want to spice up your life with romance / flirting with others.. this is for you. (if you don't mind all the negatives above).

If you are below 35 you can do a lot better, save your time and money.

Went back for our 7th wedding anniversary as we were married in 2000 on the beach. We took our 22 year old son and his 19 year old girlfriend. They loved the resort and fit in well with the older folks. After a few drinks we went back to our room the first night and for the first time got nakid in front of each other. We knew the kids enjoyed it when the next morning we were floating on the nude beach when they came out to join us. We told them nudity isn't sexual only you can make it sexual

Check In was a breeze as the rooms weren't ready as we were there before noon. But they said go in and have a wonderful lunch and come back later. We did just that along with several drinks and a quick tour of the resort. Many changes from 2000 and most for the better. Only time we had bugs was after a downpour and that only lasted a short time. Won't turn on the TV and wish they would remove them. Only used the AC when it rained and it worked fine.

I will take the old rustic, lush green landscaping over tall condo like rooms and concrete everywhere. Hedo is set up just perfect as everything is within a short pleasant walk. I love to spend hours floating on rafts in the calm bay with the warm sun hitting my body. At 23 acres and only 280 rooms you never feel crowded, except at the far end of the nude beach. This is 2 acres where they have the nude hot tub, pools, nude pool bar and grill and the open nude beach, and games are played. For some reason it seems that at least 50 percent or more want to spend there time here. This is why most of us go to Hedo and love Hedo. The chemistry in that small area is wonderful, people are so friendly and talkative. I've never seen a resort with strangers laughing, joking, telling stories with each other. And what is wonderful is when you remove the fancy clothes, credit cards, jewelry you find out everybody is the same

The food is OK and you will find something good to eat. Pastafari's has excellent tenderloins and great pasta. The bars take care of you and staff are always wonderful. I can remember in 2000 my white tux shirt got oil on it from the flight down, the front desk said "no problem" and it was spotless for the wedding. And they did this service FREE what more can you ask. On our last trip my wife's mother past away while we were at Hedo. The took me to the back office and call AirJamaica to get a flight back to the states sooner. This show how wonderful staff are.

Well I would recommend this resort to anyone with a open mind and wants to have a wonderful vacation. For most you will love it within minutes but for others it may take up to a week. You can never judge a resort on a 3 hour or a 3 day stay. You should take a minimum of 7 night at Hedo to enjoy each nights entertainment and activities

The weather was great all week, and we really enjoyed the week, as usual, since this week was our 19th trip to Hedo II. Checkin was very fast (depends on how many people coming in at once).

They've installed new air conditioners in all the rooms, and I didn't hear of any problems with them. We did have one night without hot water due to equipment failure, but that's the first time it's happened to us in years.

The staff are great and friendly. Several remember us from previous trips and always come over to speak.

Scuba diving for certified divers is included, and the dive staff are wonderful and safety is their main concern. The diving is quite good, with visibility consistently about 80 feet.

We go the same weeks in October and March, so each time we come down, we are among friends. Yes we are over forty.

Whether your room is on the nude or prude side, you'll find the nude pool and hot tub area are where most people can be found. It is surprisingly easy to meet new people on the nude side.

We went on a cruise last year and we were reminded of how great food can be. Hedo food isn't that good, but I've always found a big selection, and always food I (the picky eater) really like. I've NEVER seen a fly problem there, nor the kind of mosquito problems we've found in the swampy Yucatan (Cancun/Cozumel).

Incidentally, after Hedo, we were bored silly on the cruise.

Back again in March!

Let me preface this review with the fact that we spent the same timeframe last year at Hedonism III and LOVED it. Service at Hedo II was severely lacking, food was mediocre and room was sub-standard.
We often waited 10-15 minutes for a beer, which by the way was served in a 6 oz. plastic cup. It took longer to get it than to drink it. The entire resort seemed under staffed resulting in to lots of waiting for simple things like a glass of water. .
The air conditioner which was extremely loud cut on/off about every 30-minutes – causing the room to go from very cold to very hot – making for terrible sleeping. Add to that the cleaning staff were extremely noisy during the day (yelling back and forth) - no way to nap!
Most days, we had two bath towels – no wash cloths, hand towels or bathmat.
If you go - take your own drink container and extra towels,

What you've heard is probably true!

Shuttle: Great. 5 minute stop for bathroom & beer on the way to the resort, no stops on the way back. 1.5 hour each way, mostly county road type highway.

Front desk: Unremarkable.

Food: We probably should have made dinner reservations. The buffet was good for breakfast and lunch, but the dinner left something to be desired. The grills are good.

Drinks: Awesome. Plentiful.

Rooms: No hot water in the shower, but otherwise fine. Cable TV in every room.

Atmosphere: Non-smokers BEWARE!! The week we were there I would say it was 95% smokers, and they lit up EVERYWHERE. There are a few nonsmoking tables at the buffet but only at dinnertime. Also -- lots of steps everywhere. They can get slippery and the handrails aren't great. Be careful. Public displays of sexual activity are common.

Activities: Snorkeling - very nice, not a ton of fish but enough to see. Hot tub/pools -- ah, WOW -- no limits there -- beware of single guys sneaking up behind you and copping a feel (or worse) without asking. Tennis -- lots of very nice courts lit for night play. Beach - just fine. Gym -- very nice. Entertainment - we found the dinnertime entertainment really annoying and too loud, but, if you like music and aren't real picky, you might like it. Nightclub - very techno, but nice and racy.

Crowd: a few twenties, enough thirties, many forties and fifties, and some sixties and seventies. Lots of imperfection, don't worry if you sag or stick out a little, but many hotties too.

  • Liked — Lack of inhibition
  • Disliked — Lack of hot water in the shower

Yes the resort does have its shortcomings - especially the shortage of help at the front desk. The front desk can be frustrating but after you get past that point anything else matters not. This was our 2nd trip there. It's just plain and simple - it's not possible to have a bad time. This place is fun to be at. And yes Winston and Sunshine are great entertainment. The attitude of all the residents there quickly is adjusted to having a good time and being super friendly. You wont find the degree of "outgoingness" by patrons elsewhere. A new twist is the Hedo only Catamarin trip - a must do. The piano bar is hot ( not your average USA sing-a -long). the disco is anything goes and as usual the hot tub is packed to capacity around midnight (80-90 people). The only things we didnt like are the perpetual drug pushers sitting in boats about 10 ft from the shoreline and the 1 hour plus wait to check in. Other than that - It is easy to see why the resort was booked out during these economic times.

  • Liked — The atmosphere and attitude adjustment of all partons
  • Disliked — Dealing with the front desk - especially check in
