My wonderful travel agent at Hayden Travel & Cruises booked my second trip to Hedo II in Negril, Jamica. Again, my friends and I chose the 2nd weekend in November, and again we found that the resort was full of happy friendly people.
I headed out with my friends, flying out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We had an early flight (7 am) so that we could enjoy as much of the DAY at Hedo as possible. We got to the resort a little after noon, ate at the buffet, then headed to our rooms to change (read: get undressed & grab towels), then went straight to the pool.
This year, the weather was cooler than we expected (especially after the sweltering heat last year), but it was still comfortably warm enough to hang out in or around the pools & beach. The service was wonderful, with most of the staff members being gracious and accommodating.
It seemed as though maybe there were some managerial changes in the staffing, or that maybe there were too many staff changes all at once. We found that the entertainment staff seemed less sure of themselves, some of the regular staff members seemed more distant, and some of the policies seemed to have changed.
None of these things affected our overall vacation, although we were disappointed that we didn't feel so much like "family" at the resort, and seemed more like "company." We much preferred the warm friendliness that the staff members had with us last year to the slightly distant communications we received this year. Nonetheless, our vacation was wonderful (despite my having been sick with a cold or an allergy problem through most of the vacation).
The nightly programs are still fun (toga night, guest/staff talent show, circus showcase, beach party, etc), and I especially loved the Amateur Stripper Contest hosted by Hayden Travel! Apparently, that will be an annual thing, so I look forward to next year's too!
Overall, Hedo II is still my favorite "Me" vacation spot (read: child-and-responsibility-free), and I'm going back next year - same time, same place!
