“Had a awesome stay at CSA!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Loved our May 4th-12th stay!!! Good food, good employees, beautiful beach! Don't listen to the negative reviews. Some people can't be pleased!!!

Front desk- No problem with check in. We got there at 4pm and our room was ready.

Room- We had one of the rooms near the road (4305) and had no problems sleeping. The bed is big and comfy! We had one incident with our room during the week where the bathroom stink was covered with ants. We called the front desk to let them know and when we got back from dinner that night the problem was solved and we had no more ants during our stay. We never lost power or lost hot water. The patio is awesome and offered a beautiful view of the garden.

Food- Food was good and offered a lot of healthy options. We ate a lot at Patios and thought it was much better then the Palms buffet. Seagrapes and the Cabana grill were awesome for lunches. Feather's was excellent and Lemongrass was good. ( We ate at both twice during our stay) The only complaint I have is most of the times for dinner service was slow. We always had late reservations, because we were always on the beach for sunset, so between 8:30 and 9pm we were eating and it was always a 1 and a half to 2 hours for dinner.

Beach-We are beach people, so we opened the bars, but never closed them unless it was the beach bar. lol ;) There is not alot of beach huts, so if you want one like we did wake up at 5:45-6 am to get one. We our at the beach all day, so I didn't feel bad about claiming one. It is a nice break from the hot sun when you need it. The water is so nice and tons of cool things to be found. We found several huge starfish during our stay. Don't be a jerk off like the lady who took 2 live ones to dry out and take home. Take your picture and put them back. The sunsets are amazing and not to be missed. Vendors do come up to you, but a simple no thank you and they let you be. Shout out to my favorite beach musician Ice block. He rocked it out all week. Buy his cd for 15! I also want to give a shout out to my favorite beach bartenders Peter, Lanette (aka rookie) and Natasha. They took care of us all week with a smile.

Gym-My husband thought it was awesome.

Overall, I think this resort is very good and worth a visit. You can be as active or lazy as you want to be. ( We opted to be beach bums and didn't take advantage of the activities). ;) There is a orientation, but we figured things out on our own and didn't want to waste the time to do it. Can't wait until our Christmas at Couples Barbados in Dec!

We were at CSA for our third trip April 18 – 27. As with all of our previous trips, leading up to it you get nervous about 1 or 2 bad reviews, but CSA was as excellent as ever.

Their biggest selling point here continues to be the beach. Their beach is truly the best we have ever seen and keeps us coming back each year. How anyone could be disappointed with this I don’t know. We arrived at beach each day around 9 and never had an issue getting a shaded spot under palm trees. If you want a hut, wake up really early. But we saw empty ones after lunch several of our days.

The service and staff is also top notch. Of course you may come across a few workers that are having a bad day (don’t we all have those days) but the majority of people go out of their way to make sure you get what you need and have a good time. Their kindness is authentic and not just to get a tip from you. We always take the time to get to know the staff and I think that goes a long way. Please remember to keep a list of names of people that performed good service and write it on your checkout survey.

As I say in all of my reviews, the food (for all inclusive standards) is outstanding. Make sure you try to eat everywhere at least one time to judge for yourself. The house wines have also improved and you can pay more to upgrade that as well.

Third trip with a GVS and third trip almost no road noise. Yes you hear it on the veranda during the day, but even then it’s not bothersome to us. We have never heard it in the room or while sleeping. I am sure a handful of rooms may have this issue, if you get one of these rooms just asked to be moved. They are very accommodating.

The Sports Complex has so much to offer. This was the first trip we took advantage of it and got some workouts in. Great way to start the day.

Nightlife was never dull, we spent every night at Piano bar/Aura nightclub. Of our 9 nights, only 1 was a little quiet after 11. All the other nights people danced until 1 or 2 am.

For more details of our trip you can go to the Couples message board and look for the “Longest Ever Review of CSA” thread.

Area of improvement: More lighting in the room, more self serve water stations around property, more organized checkin/out process.

If you have any questions please message me.

Our fourth trip is already booked for 2014 and we will be counting the days until our return.

Room Tip: We prefer ground floor, more privacy, room service delivered to veranda, and quick way to walk out t...

We arrived at CSA on May 5, 2013 for a five night stay. As we did last year, we booked an ocean view verandah room. Our stay was fantastic. Many of the staff members remembered us from last year and greeted us very well with "welcome home". From the food to the activities, every aspect of the trip was great. We ate at Patois, Lemongrass, The Palms, the Cabana Grill, and Feathers. No complaints! We experienced snorkeling, glass bottom boat, catamaran cruise, parasailing, and the beach. We also enjoyed a wonderful massage at the Oasis Spa. No complaints! Our first trip to Jamaica was in 2010 at Couples Towel Isle which was nice. In 2012, we stayed at CSA. By far, this is our favorite vacation spot and we plan to return next year. The repeat customer's dinner was a nice touch. In summation, the staff members that we encountered were excellent. Hard working and responsive to our every whim, we appreciate the service that we received.

I'd have given CSA a 5 star if (a) there is no requirement for reservation at 2 restaurants and (b) they had better mosquito control: mosquitoes are ferocious after dark. Remember to bring along insect repellent and hydrocortisone.

Otherwise, I really like this resort: staff, food, beach, facilities, activities, etc. This is one of very few true all-inclusive resorts remaining: even scuba dives, snorkeling trips, catamaran cruises, motorized water sports are included. For all of this, CSA deserves 4.5 stars.

We were there from 4/27 to 5/4. Star apples, nest berry (sabote), jackfruit and soursop were available. All are delicious tropical fruits that few tourists are interested in. We wiped out their entire stock and kept asking for more. The staff were happy to accommodate us. We appreciated that.

We enjoy snorkeling very much and did it every day. The main captain of the snorkeling boat is Oliver. I recommend that you ask him to go snorkeling with you. We have known him for more than 3 years when he left Beaches to come to work for CSA. What a great catch for CSA! Oliver is very experienced, has a deep knowledge of the surrounding reefs and a true care for them. He'll be able to spot and show you the best and well hidden creatures in the reefs, and is able to name each mysterious creature that you saw and described to him. If he swims with you, he'll show you the best spots. His replacement during his days off and crew mates are also very pleasant and helpful: Julian and Colleen.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

My husband and I stayed at Couples Swept Away from May 2, 2013 to May 9, 2013. It is a beautiful resort and we would definately go back. I'll rate the categories below:
ARRIVAL: We arrived at airport, got through customs pretty quickly, picked up our luggage and went to the Couples Waiting Room at the airport. The room was very colorful, like the carribean, it had restrooms and a nice area where you could sit. They gave you red strip beer, and organized the trip to the resort, took our luggage and off we went. The vans were nice and air-conditioned. The trip took about 1 1/2 hours to get to the Swept Away Resort. Upon arrival to the resort, we entered the guest house, were given a glass of champagne and cool scented cloths to refesh ourselves with while we waited to check in. The resort does put a $300.00 hold on your charge card. This actually worked in our favor. We did not have to carry any money around at the resort .If we wanted to purchase anything from the gift shop, etc. we could just charge it to the room. Then, at check out, the front desk removes the hold on the credit card and you can decide whether you want to pay for the items by cash or keep as a charge to your credit card.
ROOMS: We had a Garden Verandah Suite and were very happy with our choice. It was a corner, first floor unit by the small koi pond. In the distance we could see the jacuzzi and a peek-a-boo view of the ocean. We did hear traffic noise at certain times of the day. There is no way around that issue because the first row of buildings are close to the road. We did not have a problem with the noise. It does quiet down in the evenings and we did not have a problem sleeping at night. For a $20.00 refundable deposit, my husband got a key from the front desk to open the verandah french doors. It was it easier to come in from the beach from the door on the verandah instead of going all the way around to the front of the building.
BEACH: The beach is beautiful. We stayed on it all day. I think that Couples Swept Away has the nicest stretch of beach and sand. We walked past Beaches, Sandals, and Hedonism and thought that Couples Swept Away still had the prettiest beach of all of the resorts. The water had no undertow, was safe and on the shallow side. Palapas on the beach are limited and in order to get one, you have to get up pretty early. There is still plenty of shade from the trees on the beach. Yes, the beach vendors come around to try to get you to buy something or listen to their music. You start to recognize the people after awhile! Just say "No, Thank You" and they move on. There is security on the beach and they keep the vendors from approaching your beach chairs. You have to go out to meet them on the beach to do business. If you want to walk the beach, security will ask you for your room number and ask you to let them know when you get back from your walk. We felt safe here. We did do one of the complimentary snorkeling trips. The reef was directly if front of the resort. The water was probably about 8 ft deep at places so it would be a great way for someone who has never snorkeled to try it for the first time.
FOOD: The food was excellent at all the restaurants. Our favorite was the Patois for dinner because you did not have to make reservations and you could come casual. They ask that the men not wear sleeveless shirts. Otherwise you could come in shorts, sandels etc. The restaurant had great flat bread and pizza. My favorite dish was the pecan ginger encrusted chicken breast and my husband enjoyed their steak dishes. If you want a great cheeseburger, jerk chicken or jamaican patties for lunch, go to the Cabanna Grill. We tried Lemon Grass and enjoyed the food and ambiance. It required reservations and the attire was a sundress for women and the men wore khaki's, a collared shirt and closed toed shoes. We enjoyed dining under tiki torches on the porch. For breakfast, we ate at the Palms restaurant. They had two omelet stations and a buffet with fruit, eggs, sausage, vegetables, juices, breads, etc. One of our favorite fruit drinks was the plum and ginger fruit juice.
ENTERTAINMENT: All the entertainment was first class. We enjoyed the African Drums and dancers and the Steel Drums and dancers. The bands were great and played lots of different kinds of music to include music from the 70's and beach music. A lot of people were dancing. They had a band that played while you were dining at the Palms restaurtant that we enjoyed, and then at 9:15 PM they had the main entertainment for the night. I think that was usually over by 10:00 PM, and then things would pick up in another place over at the Aura Lounge that went on until about 2:00 AM.
COMPLIMENTARY TRIPS: They have a lot of complimentary trips. They offer:
Catamaran Cruises every day except Sunday and Thursday
Shopping Tours: Monday and Friday at 2:00 PM or Wednesday and Saturday at 10:00 AM
Margaritaville on Wednesdays at 5PM
Snorkeling Trips
Push Cart- Saturdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 PM
they also have jewelry making, tie die classes, hat making, basket weaving and salsa.
CHECK OUT: We had a 2:30 PM flight out of Jamaica, but still had to check out fairly early. The shuttle from the resort leaves at 10:00 AM. The bell hops will pick up your luggage at 9:00 AM. We closed out our account with the front desk, and left our packed luggage inside the rooms for the bell hops to pick up. At 10:00 AM, the shuttles arrive at the front of the great house to pick you up. The staff will organize your luggage and place you in the correct shuttle. It is a 1 1/2 hour ride back to the airport. The shuttle will drop you off at the front and the airport will make sure that you are in the right location for your filght. While you are waiting for your flight, you can do some great shopping at the airport and the prices are pretty good on the items.
We had a great stay in Jamaica at Couples Swept Away and would highly recommend it. We are in our late 50's and had a great time at the resort. It looked like there were a wide variety of ages visiting the resort. Many were return guests. When we heard that certain guests were returning for their 10th visit that means Couples is doing something right!

Room Tip: We liked the Garden Verandah Rooms. We were in room 3105 near the koi pond on the first floor in the...

I love this resort so much, infact have been here now around 5-6 times. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the restaurants and food quality is amazing.
The nightlcub and bars are fun. The staff are also great!
I would love to go back very soon all being well maybe next year. This resort truly has something to offer everyone and even though it seems very large it is not like that when you are there. The spa and sports facilities are on the other side of the road where there are no rooms, so are a lot more private.
My favourite resort in Jamaica by far.

Room Tip: Try to go for an upgraded room if you want minibar and TV.

This was our first stay at the resort. After clearing immigration, we waited at the Couples Lounge for about ten minutes before leaving. The ride from the airport to the resort was entertaining due to the other couples on the bus. Our room was ready when we arrived (Garden Verandah Suite, #1201).

Room: The room was large, clean, cool & a comfortable bed. The patio was fantastic. Lighting for the evening, a nice large ceiling fan & comfy deck furniture. We used this space every morning & late afternoon. The blow dryer worked but not well so bring your own if you use one.
We had a coffee maker that was restocked every day. If you register for the Romance Rewards prior to arrival, you can request your mini bar choices that was waiting when we arrived. The mini refridge was always cold & restocked daily. Of all of the rooms on the resort, we were closest to the lobby & the road, however, we were NEVER bothered by road noise or noise from the lobby.

Beach: FANTASIC!!! We have been to Punta Cana & Montego Bay but this 7 mile beach was by far the best. The sand is fine, the water is clear, no seaweed, rocks or pebbles. There are a few shade huts that are all reserved early in the morning but there is plenty of shade provided by the palms. Our favorite spot was by the scuba hut; lots of shade & no one was there.

Pools: The only one that we used was the main pool. At the beginning of our stay no one was ever there. Towards the end, more people came daily. The pool was clean & refreshing with a jaccuzi right there as well as a bar. The swim up bar pool was always crowded but it looked like the party place to be if that is what you are looking for (know as the pee pee pool). That pool has two jaccuzis.

Places to eat: You can have room service for breakfast if you want. The Palms is the only buffet, but the food was always fresh. We ate at Sea Grapes for lunch daily, right on the beach & many healthy choices. Try the Sweet Potato Chips with hummus, they are great. We had reservations at Lemongrass & Feathers. We enjoyed Feathers the most out of those two. Also ate dinner at Patois. We can honestly say we did not have a bad meal our entire stay. So many choices and a lot of healthy options. Most meal had small portion sizes which was fine for us. Everyone raved about the pizza at Patios but we were not impressed. It wasn't bad but not comparable to NJ pizza.

Bars: The martini bar makes the best Chocolate martinis! My husband enjoyed the Tempation martini. The straw hut bar closest to the swim up pool was our favorite!! Peter & Orville are OUTSTANDING!!! They mixed the best drinks on the resort! We had drinks from the bar in Patois, not impressive. The bartender at Feathers is a professional; great drinks there. The bar in the Palms was great for frozen drinks. They also have a make your own Bloody Marys & Screwdrivers in the morning.

Service: Our room service was very good when we used it. The maids were never there when we were in our room but every time we came back to our room, it was cleaned. The turndown service is a very nice touch. The waitresses were all good but Stacey & Stacey Ann at Feathers made our 34th Anniversary memorable! Thank you!! Shaundra at Patois provided great service & was very informative.

Dive Staff: My husband completed his open water dives for is NAUI certification while we were there and then did two dives daily, with the exception of Sunday when the dives were cancelled due to rough waters. Thanks Anthony & the rest of the dive staff. They are all outstanding professionals.

Grounds: Very tropical and well maintained. Beautiful plants & flowers that had sweet smells. We received a daily early morning wake up from a woodpecker that LOVED our verandah.

We did not use the sports facility but it looked great & used by many.

Negatives: The ONLY negative that we can list is we had NO hot water until our last night at this resort. We reported it several times and maintenance staff would come to correct the problem but it was NOT resoved or repaired. Two of them told us the unit was turned off & something was wrong with it. Please understand that our hot water was either cold or like room temp. I did not pay thousands of dollars to take a cold shower. On our fifth day there, I stopped by the front desk to report our problem, again... at this point I asked for compensation. The desk manager talked to the GM & was good about getting back to us, however, we still didn't have hot water. I'm still not clear about our compensation; we received $200 resort credit on our account but the message left in our room said, "Spoke to the GM who has offered $200US resort credit. Same will be posted to the room account." I am assuming that this means we were given $200 credit this trip...or is there also $200 resort credit waiting for us if we decide to return again? I do not believe $200 is enough compensation for six days of our seven day stay without hot water. It is a shame that we had this experience because this really is a great resort but at no point was there ever an offered to move us to a different room & we had to ask for compenstation. As a manager myself, I would NEVER put my customers in this postion; I would bend over backwards to make them satisfied. It was almost a "slap in our face" that we had hot water on our last last day because this proved to us that there was a SERIOUS problem that could have & should have been resolved in a timely manner....six days is not timely & unacceptable.
