After reading several reviews on this hotel, and others in Jamaica we kinda knew what to expect from our holiday. We picked a hotel that was in line with our budget with decent reviews and a good location. We knew that the Jamaicans are well known for being laid back so nothing really came as a surprise to us. We experienced a few problems along our way but nothing that could ruin our holiday in this amazing part of the world.

Our safe in the room was broken on arrival and we were told we could borrow the one in the room next over the corridor and that they would fix ours the next day, 3 days later it still hadn't been fixed. We ended up moving rooms which wasn't ideal but actually ended up in a better room closer to the beach. We then had problems with our patio door, for some reason we couldn't lock it. I reported this to reception and a chap fixed it the next day only for it to break again. This happened 3 or 4 times and in the end we just gave up and forgot about it. Some days we had clean towels, other days we had to call reception as we had not been left enough towels and on one occasion none at all. The lady on reception was so laid back she was almost horizontal, but again we were expecting this after reading previous reviews, and most problems were dealt with in the end.

Our room was nice and big and spacious and the bed was massive, probably the biggest I have ever slept in! and very comfortable. Our room was cleaned well everyday.
The staff at the hotel were mostly friendly and very helpful. My favorite was Keisha who served us breakfast most mornings. She was always smiling and welcoming and told me I sounded like Elvis Presley because I kept saying "thank you very much". The young chap serving in the restaurant was also very nice and pleasant and helpful.

The breakfast itself wasn't much to write home about but was suffice most mornings, but again after reading previous reviews we knew this wasn't going to be 5 star dining. On the mornings I felt a little hungrier I just ordered extra from the menu which was reasonably priced.

The location of the hotel is where this hotel excels. It is set right in the centre of the 7 mile beach in Negril and really is the perfect spot. On the majority of occasions there were plenty of sunbeds unless we didn't get to the beach until the afternoon then it was a struggle. We visited in January and the sea was lovely and warm and clear with very little rain at all over our 2 week stay.

There are lots of places along the beach to go out for meals in the evening within a short walking distance or you can take a taxi into town or to the cliffs which is only a 10 minute drive.

Overall our stay at rooms was enjoyable and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Negril on a budget, as long as you don't expect 5 star service or dining.

Stayed at the Negril Hotel over the 4th of July week. Switched rooms three times. First room had no water and dark and dingy. When we first asked for a garden room or room facing the pool, we were told there were none available. After our disappointment of the first room and informing them that consumers take reviews seriously, we were given a better room and moved a third time the next day to a room facing the pool and ocean that actually had hot water a few days. Most of the time the water was cold. Pool was available for swimming two out of five days; always down for testing. Constant plumbing problems over by the pool bathroom where ceiling fell second day of our stay making the bathroom inoperable for the remainder of the stay. Manager was never around. If it wasn't for the bartenders, this rating would be poor. Mr. Gladstone was so understanding, accommodating and professional. He came in early to help with breakfast, and managed to wait on everyone in a timely manner. Unlike the young ladies who were slow, unorganized and didn't seem to care. We were told it was off season for them the reason they only served breakfast and the bar closed at 5pm, but my cousin said they say the same thing in November. So when is peak season???? Paying additional money for beachfront isn't worth it if the rest of the hotel is subpar.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper level looks better than the rooms on the lower level.

We sincerely regret the inconveniences experienced as a result of the plumbing issues. We were experiencing a high increase in the water pressure from the main supply which resulted in several burst pipes. Please do know that the staff worked very hard to try and correct these issues which had their levels of difficulty.

In response to your question, our peak season is December 15 - April 30.

I was absent on vacation. Having returned we will continue to use the reviews to guide our efforts to improve the service we provide.

My friend and I just returned from 5 nights at Rooms. We got an amazing deal so really weren't expecting too much. This was the first time in Jamaica for both of us and this place totally exceeded our expectations! The hotel is basic but clean and the beds comfortable. Staff were friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. We had decided we didn't want to go down the all inclusive route so this worked out perfectly. Rooms is right on the beach with plenty of bars and local restaurants all around. We ate and drank well and met lots of locals!
Because it was low season, the hotel bar closed at 5pm each day but there were plenty of places around that we could get a drink or bite to eat from and there was no issue taking outside food/drink back to the hotel.
The hotel has wifi but it's expensive (something like $14 a day!) We didn't bother and just used the free computers in the lobby but not having free or affordable wifi does seem like a negative in this day and age.
Hotel has security on site 24/7 which was comforting - although, as two females traveling, we walked around a lot in the area and, although approached constantly, we never once felt threatened.
We went with the Garden View Room - no real view to speak of, but we hardly spent any time in the room so we didn't care. Plus it's a small property and within a 2 second walk around the corner, you can see the beach!
Breakfast consists of fruit, toast and a couple of pastries. The coffee and grapefruit juice was delicious. There is also an a la carte menu for anyone that wants a more substantial meal, but the complementary option set us up perfectly for the day ahead.
The beach is beautiful soft sand and the water is clear and warm, as you would expect.
Overall, we had a great time and, for what we paid, Rooms really worked out well as a base while we explored the area. We were really pleased we went for this option rather than an all inclusive resort. I'd definitely stay there again!

Stayed for one week! Water turned off 3different times 3days. Ran out of morning continental breakfast. Toilet leaked for 2 days before fixing. Loud music starting at 6:00 am everyday. Hotel security smoking gangi off property and returning to work. Marijuana plant growing right outside our beach front deck in the sand.Groundskeeper would rake around it. Grounds were cleaned the day we arrived and not again until the day we left. Beach chairs never straightened up. One couple ended up washing hair in pool because of no water. Front desk unfriendly. Had to wait everyday until 10:00am to get clean beach towels,although staff was sitting on beach.We would ask at 9 and was told to come back at 10! Big corporation only cares about money now not service and taking care of property. Our friends have been coming this spot for over 10 years. They are considering going else where. Would I return or recommended to others. NO!!!!

The music at 6am came from a neighboring property on the public beach. While we are accustomed to music in the evening, 6am is an anomaly.

Been coming to Jamaica since 2001 at least once if not twice a year. Used to stay at the all inclusive resorts until we discovered Rooms Negril. Always requested beach front rooms during booking. During a couple of stays, the room we paid for was occupied for a couple of days, took forever after we got back to the states to get a refund. We love the location of this place on the beach since it is close to Alfred's and Roots Bamboo plus a short walk in either direction by beach or road to see other attractions. This hotel is Jamaican friendly which means our local friend can visit us without any hassle or additional charge. Unfortunately this last stay was the most disappointing and embarrassing for us since we brought another couple with us that have never been to Jamaica before. All the wonderful things we were telling them didn't come true. Their toilet leaked all over the floor after the water finally came back on. Told the office but it never got fixed. For three days in a row the water wouldn't work. Took pictures of the boiler which looked like it was ancient. Could see where the plumber fixed the pipe in 3 different places within a foot area instead of replacing it. The office was unsympathetic and very unfriendly regarding this situation. They did give us a $10 drink voucher for our troubles. There was always a sign out that the pool was being treated, but the bottom was full of sand all week. The beach area was horrible. Every time we stayed before the chairs would be neatly lined up at the end of the day and first thing in the morning it would be raked. It wasn't touched all week. The towels were always late, supposed to be out by 9am, maybe see them around 10. Plaster fell off the ceiling in the walkway to the restaurant because of water leak upstairs. Paint peeling off the buildings. New security company this time. I asked one of them if Alfred's was having a band. His reply was "I don't know who Alfred is". They were only good at taking room numbers. After staying here multiple times since 2006, we believe it's time to find somewhere else to stay. Rooms Negril needs a major renovation and attitude adjustment. PS: bring wash cloths cause sometimes they just run out.

Thank you for returning to Rooms Negril and for recommending your friends. We recognize that your experience on the your last stay was not as you had anticipated and we sincerely regret the inconveniences and disappointment.

With regards to the plumbing issues, an increase in the water pressure from the main supply caused several of our pipes to burst. The staff did their best to correct the problems which had their degrees of difficulty.

The security company is in fact new and whole they become more familiar with the location it would be better to recommend you to the front desk for assistance.

First of many stays with this hotel . The service was great and rooms were clean with good air conditioners. The beach awesome except for the locals nagging you on the beach to buy stuff. The hotel had their own security outside 24/7 to keep them at bay. Loved it!

I stayed at Rooms on the Beach in Negril for 4 days. Overall it was very nice. The rooms are quite modern-looking and the air conditioning works well. We had a nice sized balcony overlooking the beach as well.

Free continental breakfast. This includes coffee, cereal, a fruit bowl, orange juice, toast, a muffin and a slice of banana bread. You can also order from the menu and pay. It was definitely nice the breakfast was included, but it was far too many carbohydrates and no protein which to me means I'll be hungry again within a few hours. Even if I wanted just an egg, the lowest cost on the menu for anything was $6. It would have been nice to have the option to buy a hard-boiled egg for a dollar or two.

The hotel restaurant is closed very early in the day in the off-season (like 11am) so you will need to find somewhere else for lunch/dinner. There is a local restaurant attached to a grocery store just down (southwest?) the main road. You can get chicken and "rice and peas" for 6 bucks. If you prefer a more touristy option you can go "up" along the beach (Northeast) for more options.

As the name implies, the hotel is right on the beach. A lot of people hassle you to buy things on the beach (even in the off season) so the hotel has part of the beach blocked off from general access. It is helpful because no one can come right up to you and hassle you but they will still yell at you to come talk to them from the other side of the small wall. The bad thing is the wall blocks your view of the shore but you can't win them all I guess!

You have to pay if you want Wifi access on your own laptop. I don't remember the exact prices but it was high, like $16 or $18 a day. I think you could also buy a week pass but it was all too expensive to me. The lobby has two computers you can use at no charge. In the off-season there aren't a lot of guests at the hotel so there's not a huge demand for the computers but I imagine it's a different story in the busy season. But if you only need to print off a form or send a quick email here or there you at least have the option!

Overall the grounds were nice and well-kept. The workers are constantly doing upkeep. There is a pool but it is closed everyday at about 5pm. There is a small gym but I never used it. It seemed too warm in there, but I never asked them about turning on air conditioning either.

There are a couple shuttle drivers with Juta that are waiting at the hotel most of the time for anyone that needs a ride: Keith and Leon (aka Mr. Positive). We had both of them take us to various places & they were early and waiting for us each time. Keith took us on a tour one afternoon to the Blue Hole in Negril (literally one small deep blue hole), the sugarcane fields, the lighthouse & Rick's Café. Really the beach is the most exciting thing in Negril but you might as well see things while you are there. They were both very reliable drivers. Keith's number is 876-360-2251 and Leon's is 876-770-6741. US cell plans are expensive to use in Jamaica. The hotel had no problem calling the drivers to take us around Negril as well as the shuttle company for our ride to Montego Bay.
