We had used Peat Taylor twice before over the last 9 years and he has always exceeded our expectations. This time, we scheduled a tour for 10 people about 8 months ago. Then our number dropped down to 8. The emails back and forth were answered very quick and there was never any problem. On the day of our tour (August 20th, 2013) another pair dropped out bringing our total down to only 6. We had scheduled for a private van, but now knowing this might be a problem, we got with Peat at the Cruise Ship terminal quickly....he assured us that this was "NO PROBLEM!" Once again, Peat Taylor Tours came through for us!!!!!
We were assigned to his youngest son AINSWORTH. What a great guy! He is only 21 but it seems as though he has been doing this for years. He had great stories....not only about the things we were seeing, but about life in Jamaica-mon. He is a dashing young man, and I can see the ladies falling all over him.
We went to Dunn's River Falls first. This was the same as before and very crowded. We went up the falls by ourselves and didn't use a guide. Last time we went the guides (not part of Peat Taylor) were pretty pushy and rushing us through. This time was much more relaxed and we just took our time, sometimes letting several other "tours" go past us while we lazed in the pools. Ainsworth was waiting for us right where he said he would be and back onto our very own air-conditioned van.
One of our group wanted some "authentic, locals-only Jerk Chicken" and so Ainsworth took us to a place where he and his friends go. It was AWESOME!!!
We had heard about this "Eiree Blue Hole" and had arrainged (at the dock on this day) to add this to our day. Peat had come up with a VERY reasonable price ($20.00 a person) to go see this place. This is a place where the local kids have grown up using, but is just recently being opened up to outsiders. To cut to the chase: IT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!! THis place is astounding....fresh, clean, and so majestic. I amagine it's like what Dunn's River Falls was like 40 years ago. There were falls and pools. You can float, climb, cliff-jump, rope-jump...whatever you want. Just to get to this place is about a .5 hour climb into the mountains over a one-lane bumpy road (The van handled all this with pretty good comfort) and when we got there, we were handed off to two of Ainsworth's high school buddies. They were SOOOO friendly and helpfull!! They helped several of the ladies in our group up the trails and helped two of them jump off for some cliff jumping. There are differing hights of 10, 20, or 40 feet for the cliff diving/jumping....BUT ONLY IF YOU WANT. You can climb down the trails to the pools if you desire. We spent only about 1.5 hours here, but if I go back, it'll be for 3-4 hours!!
Bottom line, Peat Talyor Tours (Peat and Ainsworth) have done it again, and showed us a great time in their beautiful country! Would recommend them highly!!!!!!!!!!!
