Thanks for trip advisors reviews, after extensive research, we went with peat Taylor for our Jamaica excursion.. Our itinerary was dunn's river fall, water tubing, irie blue hole and lunch at scotchies The 9 teenagers (ages 16-20) all think this is the best part of the cruise.
We had re-peat and his younger brother Ainsworth as our driver and guide. I had to ask someone where peat was once we got out to the street at the Falmouth dock. But the people were very nice and showed us where to go. And re-peat were right there waiting for us. I requested and was promised a car seat for the baby before the trip, and it wasn't there. Coming from where a carseat is requied at all time, this was very unsettling. The mom had to hold the baby the whole time. Anyway, all is well.
We left around 11 am ship time and got to Dunn's River Fall around 12. When we got there, the place was packed!! There were people everywhere. I dont think i saw scenery but people. And they told us it would get even more people an hour or so later. It took us over 2 hours to go up the waterfall. A lot of waiting for the line to move. We had 4 that didn't want to do the climb, so they stayed on the walkway along the waterfall and took pictures where ever they could see us Ainswoth stayed with them the entire time. That was very nice of him
Then we went to the Irie Blue Hole. We stopped along the way and got jamaican patties and ate on the bus. They were delicious We got to the water hole after 3 pm and my planned leaving time for the trip was 4 to make sure we have plenty of time to get back to the dock with some time to shop. Re-peat didnt seem to be worry about the time. With so many people, i really didnt want to risk it, so we decided to spend more time at the water hole and skipped water tubing and lunch at Scotchies. The kids love this place. This is the highlight of their entire trip! They jumped off cliffs and did rope jump. It was a lot scarier and higher than it looks when you were standing at the edge. I only did one jump. The water was cold and the current was pretty strong from the waterfall. But the rest of the group who did it seemed to be fine the guides were wonderful and were great divers. The only thing they didn't quite enjoy was going through the cave under the waterfall. They said it was dark, and the space was small. The guide just told them to go without saying what to do or expect, so they were kind of clueless as they climb through the darkness. Several scrapped their arms and legs as they crawled through because the rock was rough.
We left a little after 4 and it took longer going back. We got back to dock a little after 5:30 with a little time to look around the shops before the 6:30 boarding time.
We were our own private group, so we didnt have to wait for other people. we tried to disembark as soon as we were able to. With Dunn's took up so much time, I don't know how other people could go through all the places within the time we have available. Now ive been to Dunn's river fall, it was an experience, but I would skip it next time and save the time for something else. Definitely will recommend Peat Taylor.
