I'll start by saying that this resort is really beautiful. The common areas are luxurious and the rooms are quite nice and clean. However, that is just window dressing used to distract you from the reality.
Usually my husband and I travel to smaller, more intimate resorts so we did brace ourselves for a busier more crowded time. What we did not expect was the way out of control party atmosphere. If you think that Daytona Beach Spring Break sounds like a rocking good time, this is the place for you. If you enjoy making jungle noises at all hours of the day and night, screaming across to people on other balconies and running up and down the halls yelling to your friends at 3 in the morning, then by all means go! The staff won't try to make you settle down and will actually encourage your behaviour with bartending contests at the pool, and hooting and hollering with you at the bars while way overserving you.
If you like long lines, this is also a great place. By the time you get through the buffet from beginning to end, your food is cold. Not that it really matters because it is the same thing over and over again. If you want to avoid this, you can always book a reservation at one of the a la carte restaurants -- just make sure you are up early to stand in the reservation line before the line opens or you won't get in!
No matter where you get your food it is mediocre. The Italian restaurant serves noodles with ketchup, the Asian food is so drenched in soy sauce you can't taste it and the biggest suprise and disappointment is the sea food -- it was terrible! Apparently you can live on an island, surrounded by oceans that are full of fish but not know how to cook them!
If you don't care about the staff or want to get to know about their lives -- also a good place to be. They are all trained in saying and doing the right things, but are not allowed to speak to you on a personal level. If they do linger at your table for longer than the prescribed time limit, a manager will scold them in front of everyone for not working hard enough.
We knew this would not be our dream vacation, but were even more disappointed than we expected. Unless you are a college student looking for a party this probably isn't the place for you.
