We stayed at the resort from Feb.21-28. A group of 21 of us booked for a week. Of the 10 rooms booked, only 5 were correct when we checked in. Four of us payed for the beach front cabanas, including myself and now husband. When I checked in they told me they were sorry but they were overbooked and others in my group got my room. Noone in my group got the cabanas. Then they blamed our travel agency. Wrong again, we booked on NWA.com, and others used three different agencies. I asked to talk to the manager, unable to name her name, but hope you don't meet her. She was the most inconsiderate person I've met on all of our travels. No help, too bad, not our fault answer there too. After literally crying and being upset in the first day of our stay for my wedding, we checked into our second rate rooms. Next morning, I got together with my wedding coordinator, Esther Bando. She took everyones names and got all but one couple moved that day. Erica, manager in training assisted in this. She was very sweet as well.
On another note, the resort itself was quite nice, great pools and beach. Cool Runnings adventure to snorkel and Dunns River Falls was well worth the $70 fee. Shopping was about the same as anywhere in Mexico, but the people are even more bothersome than most.
Good luck getting reservations at most of the restaurants. Better be up at 6:30am in line to get in to any of them. Funny thing, when you do get in, there's so many empty tables you wonder how they say they're booked. Italian one is the best, then South Beach. Buffet was pretty good, but seemed to never open on time.
Definately chose the South Terrace. The Splash swim up bar was pretty fun. Sandy and most of them were great. Fun entertainment at night. Lots of activities for kids and adults.
Rooms are small and a bit musty, but average at worst. If you have allergies, beware and bring medicine. Also, don't expect to get whatever bed size you request, didn't happen to over half our our guests. Not too big of deal since you're not in your room much.
If you are going to get married there, I advise to meet and ask as many questions as possible on your first day. Wasn't impressed with photographer and he was extremely overpriced. I had a family member take all of our photos. Thank goodness or I would have been very disappointed. I'm not sure what the $700 fee for getting married there covers, other than the certificate, one bottle of champagne and a small cake. Everything else is costly to you. We only got 6 extra bottles of champagne and one bouitenierre and it was an extra $200. Definately be prepared for extra expenses. The minister asked for more money for the church. I guess I expected part of the $700 to at least cover that. Even the photographer who took maybe 10 pictures wanted a tip. And we only got one 8X10 photo that was maybe amatuer quality. Wedding coordinator very accomodating and friendly.
Bus ride to and from airport was as expected, crazy and a bit scary. We were lucky enough to have a full van/bus so we didn't have to stop at every other persons resorts on the way to ours. Driver was very friendly and stopped a few times for us to grab a cold beer.
Resort was overall average to above average. Would definately return to Jamaica, maybe explore another resort though just to compare. This is our first visit to Jamaica, so I hate to voice my total opinion on this resort based on on visit. Maybe this is the norm for the area.
I plan on putting some pictures of the wedding and resort on this website soon. Hopefully any brides out there take a look. Very pretty, but don't pick the gazebo on the pier, too windy. We picked the other garden gazebo. Great! Nice greenery and flowers around it.
