I was very disappointed with my findings once we arrived. The reception office looked liked something you would find in a car garage--nothing welcoming whatsoever. After we were greeted,
the next thing we heard was that we would be without power for 8 hours on the following day. On the upside, it was only shut down
for 3 hours. The facility where we were placed was most definetly
the worst on the property. One of the connected units was covered with blue tarp to keep the rain out. One of the bedrooms
was not properly cooled due to a faulty functioning air conditioner.
The alcove had boards rotted by the rain that were in desperate need of replacement. It could have used a paint job from top to
bottom also. I ventured out to one of the other units on the property and discovered that not all were of equally maintained.
This particular unit was a bi-level (pictured on the website). Some floors of the alcove were cemented while others had tile.
One actually had a built-in brick grill. I was very dismayed at the disparity of this place. The amenities listed at the Jamaican Grande were not easily accessible--The Grande is the resort featured in the view that you see way across the bay. This was far more than a five minute walk. One thing I can say from experience, the view of Columbus Heights looking up from the Jamaican Grande is far better than the one looking down on the other nicer resorts! We stayed for one night only; packed up and moved our belongings to the Grande. We had to cut our losses, but it was worth it.
