“Fantastic Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

We spent 4 nights at Couples San Souci at the end of March for a break from the snow. This was our first time at the resort, but had stayed at both Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away. We booked one of the A block rooms, which is an One Bedroom, Beach Front Suite. Check-in was smooth and quick and we were in our room and on the beach within 20 minutes. Our room was located midway between the regular beach and the au natural beach, which was very convenient. The resort isn't that big, so it is quite quaint and very picturesque.

The food was pretty good considering its an all inclusive, but we did think that CSS's food was superior to the others. The breakfast buffet was good, as was dinner at the other restaurants. We booked a private dinner at the Wedding Gazebo and it was a lot of fun and service was spectacular. The food was very, very good as well. I do recommend booking your restaurants with the concierge before arrival because many are all booked up in advance to arrival. We did this, but unfortunately, none were on record (save your emails) and they quickly fixed the problems. Same was true for our spa visit, but again, fixed without any issues. Just double check upon arrival to be sure. All in all, we thought that the service at Ocho Rios was a lot friendlier than at the other resorts so well done.

Beaches - The regular beach and pool were nice, but the Au Natural beach was a lot of fun. The swim up bar and lunch buffet was better there than at the regular beach and in general, just a lot more fun. Liquid courage helps, but after 5 minutes, its not an issue. Plus, this is not a clothing optional beach, its an au natural beach so just be prepared. The beach is a little more rocky on this side and because one of the river deltas are through it, we thought it was a bit colder, but still very nice.

In general, it was really a lot of fun and the best couples resort we have stayed at. we will return again and hopefully the beach bar construction is finalized.

Room Tip: If you book an tour/excursion/restaurants in advance, keep you emails just in case.

Great place to visit... This was our first adults only resort and I'm hooked. The service we received at couples San Sousi was excellent, especially Oshain at Casanova restaurant. The included excursions make this a very reasonable price, we went shopping, climbed Dunn falls and snorkelled multiple times all for the same all inclusive price... Thank you Couples San Souci.

Ps. We used Sunwing holidays as our carrier and were very pleased with their service also. The direct flight option made the trip hassle free!!

Pps... Whoever left the plastic tarantula in our room.... Not funny !!!! Lol

We spent a week at Couples Sans Souci in late March. It was our first time in Jamaica and we could not have chosen a more welcoming resort. All of the employees.seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and the guests are treated as family. Due to the small size of the resort and the special events every evening, it is easy to meet new people. The food was the best I have ever had at an all inclusive. We enjoyed several excursions and also had a taxi take us around the area as well as to Kingston. Our driver was Oneil so be sure to ask for him.

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs so if you have mobility issues you may want to contact the resort to find...

We spent the last week of March at San Souci. This was about a dozen times we have been to Jamaica, staying in at least six different resorts. Most have been all - inclusive resorts, but not all, with a few trips to the "Superclubs" group, which is now gone with the resorts sold off. The only other Couples resort we stayed at was Tower Isle in June of last year. The trip to Tower Isle, based on the couples we met there, prompted us to try San Souci. Just some foundational information to understand our reference.

While the other resorts have well defined strengths and weakness we found San Souci a superior "buy" to all of the other clubs. With just a few marginal issues, the overall rating from us is "Excellent". Measured against our other resort experiences the biggest plus is the professionalism and good nature of the staff. The food was great, as was the overall service (special thanks to Tina & Dion under the white tent). The room service was far and above more responsive to the guests, way past what we had come to expect based on other resorts. The beaches are well maintained and beautiful. Water sports were great and super accommodating, unlike other resorts, with props to Nickolas, Christopher & Richard.

We were assigned B6, right across from the main beach. Every pool and hot tub had sparkling clean water and looked well maintained. If you don't like steps, this may not be the place for you, but we found the whole resort to be the perfect epitome of what a tropical resort should be...worth every step.
Our room was cleaned spotless every day, & I mean you could eat off the tile clean. While the room had signs of wear, this consistently outstanding service was impressive. On our 6th day of a 8 day stay, I met out room service person, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay...Hello Miss Uma, I think of you often and will always have a place in my heart for you and your strength, faith, and peace in your heart. The true reward to travelling to Jamaica is meeting Jamaicans like her.

Now for the not great. While the gym was adequately furnished with equipment, the floors and machines were dirty. Big dust balls in the corners and on all the machines. The gym needs to be waaay cleaner, on a daily basis. Also a disappointment was the entertainment. On the Friday Gala event they had a trio of females "Ebony". The lead female was fantastic. The rest of the week were bad lounge acts singing mostly American music as opposed to reggae/traditional music. On this count Tower Isle smoked San Souci, as did almost every other place we have stayed at. The only reason I have included the constructive criticism, is because we already are planning our next trip to San Souci! . One last opinion, If you are not going to have a coffee self serve station at breakfast, then the service really needs to pick up the fact people want more than the initial small cup, after all Jamaican coffee is top shelf.

Room Tip: Some may complain about the construction/restoration taking place, it was noisy, but we don't mi...

Made sure I read the reviews of this amazing resort on tripadvisor and it did not disappoint. It had views, beautiful bay, unusual cliff side setting, delicious food, nice room, pretty but small beach and great service from some really helpful staff (Raydean, Devon, Dilano, Nicola, Martin to name just a few). Architecture is 19th century European and probably British due to its colonization at that time. Hence, this resort is not for those that desire contemporary styling. Room had the usual amenities so no issues there. As said elsewhere, stay in block A or B if you want to avoid stairs. I would come here again and will be sure to recommend to my friends.

A little late writing our review but better late than never. We arrived here on the 6th Jan got married on the 14th and unfortunately flew home on the 20th Jan. We had booked a upgraded sea view room and unfortunately the sea view was a glimpse through some trees ! We stayed in the room for our 1st night and the next morning went to reception and upgraded to a beach front suite which was fantastic. We had 6 friends also flew out to be with us. What can i say but the most perfect experience of our lives and i would go back in a heart beat . The food was out of this world and the special events (Beach party night and friday gala dinners) where amazing with every detail perfect. Our wedding was perfect. We had a meeting with the wedding co ordinatoner Creshena on arrival and then just enjoyed our holiday up to the day. It was my perfect dream wedding in the little gazebo on the hedge of the cliff. The only negative point i will say about the wedding is the cost of the pictures, the photographer was lovely and took us around the hotel for our pics but the price of the pics was extortionate ! Fortunately our friends took lots of pics so we just bought the 40 picture package from the hotel. We spent most of our time on the beach with excellent service from Ramone who was polite and efficient. Sandy our room lady was also lovely with such a great greeting every morning. I cant recommend this hotel enough.

Room Tip: worth paying the extra for a beach front suite
