My disclaimer - I will do my best to report on the resort being it was six months ago. If it is your first visit, Jamaica is not as developed as some.
We spent a long day in the airports (by the way love the Couples Lounge at the airport) so arriving to cool wash towels and drinks were very much appreciated. Our check-in was quick due to arriving later in the evening. We were taken to our room by van to the bottom of the resort. We spent our vacation in A Block. Little did I notice until day three, the blocks are named after flowers. Its the little things, lol.
We were located right off the pool/beach area, making travel to and from very easy. When first entering the room we had a cheese plate appetizer. The bed was made with petals spread over top. The bathroom was very large with dual vanity and one large jacuzzi tub. Needless to say, our room was very spacious for us. Having a seperate living area was a bonus. The mini bar remained stocked throughout our stay and the housekeeper always kept our room clean.
The grounds at CSS are absolutely beautiful. There are so many nooks and cranes throughout the resort. However, there are just as many steps. This was a drawback for me, but I wouldn't let it ruin my trip. So beware of uncomfortable shoes, they will not be your friend during this stay. I also was not as thrilled with the beach. Of course the ocean is beautiful, but after visiting Negril, Ocho Rios' beach didn't compare. However, still a beautiful place.I don't recall too many bugs, but I did prepare myself each outing before hand.
The food. I really enjoyed breakfast; "most important meal of the day", they say. I usually eat the same thing every morning, but my hubby likes to venture out. I heard no complaints as he stuffed his mouth day in day out. We tried room service once and the food was delivered promptly, but the server only left the food with no type of presentation. This is minor, but I did expect him to set up like at a previous stay of ours. I had a great porkchop at Bella Vista our first night and a lovely steak at the Pallazina. I didn't really enjoy Casanova. The pianist there was good, although he didn't acknowledge our anniversary after he asked the crowd.
All our drinks were good. Well, I don't know about the Bob Marley, because I didn't try it. But I have proof it'll knock you off your feet. If you're bad enough, go for it. We enjoyed hanging out by the pool bar with Adrian (sp) and at the Mineral Pool bar with Sanjay (sp). Thanks to those guys for keeping the party going.
The entertainment was so so. My husband did particpate in Jamerican Idol as Randy. He seemed to enjoy himself. Oh, the couples game was interesting. We learned somethings we didn't want to know.
We ventured out to Dunn's River Falls on a day when ships were docked. This did not bother us because the crowd intensified our excitement. This was so much fun. I'm not usually up for work on vacation, but this was well worth it. For me, this was an accomplishment and my husband was so proud of me. Lets just say physical activity is not my thing. Please visit Dunn's River Falls, but beware the shops at the end. We were forced to go out the exit, but by all means avoid this. The sellers are rude and forceful, but they didn't know that they were up against me.
We also tried the shopping trip. This was cool, although it was overpriced. We actually ended up on the trip w/two other NC couples (imagine that). We heard some regulars stating to just take a cab to a less tourist filled spot. Sounds like a good idea.
The hardest thing was leaving. That's not the resort's fault, well yeah it is. We really did enjoy this vacation and would recommend to others willing to walk the steps.
