“Heaven on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Just returned from 7 perfect days at couples sans souci. Our 1 bed suite overlooking the ocean was perfect. Air conditioning worked perfectly, very clean, albeit a but shabby, beautiful view. Nice sized balcony with a large double relaxer and table and chairs.
Food was excellent and plentiful, full range of branded and non branded alcohol available at the restaurants, beach bar and in our room fridge. All inclusive, really meant all inclusive. Great range of water sports available, if you can get up from the beach beds. We spent our mornings by the mineral pool with its fruit bar and jacuzzi and the afternoons on the beach by the bar. Staff were all amazing, friendly, and very amenable.
The only criticism I can find is that it is a bit shabby, but it is very clean, the staff are forever sweeping and doing what they can.
I had read the reports before I booked and after and cannot understand some of the negative reports given.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are slightly bigger but you do have to climb 108 steps up from the beach, this is g...

From the time we arrived at the Couples lounge at the airport, we were greeted with impeccable service and a great drink! On the long two hour drive to the resort, our driver filled us in on all sorts of fun facts about Jamaica. Check in was a quick breeze and we were welcomed with a cold wash cloth and a glass of champagne. Our bell hop showed us to our room and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. The grounds are spectacular and I loved that it was OUR beach...it made me feel safe. I ate at every restaurant and at every planned event and I loved ALL of the food...even in room dining. Some of the foods were outside of my comfort zone, but even those were great! There were plenty of water sports and activities to do and the entertainment staff was the best we've ever had! We participated in all of the activities and had a blast the entire week we were there. The bar tenders and wait staff were also great. All in all...I've never said this before....but we WILL be staying at Couples again! Best vacation yet!

Room Tip: If you have a physical disability, you should choose your room carefully as there are SO many stairs...

We spent 7 days here for our honeymoon and felt that we couldn't have made a better choice. We had a beachfront suite- the room was lovely and well maintained. The bar was stocked within 20 minutes each time we called. The food was AMAZING- we seriously did not have one bad meal. There are only 3 restaurants, but you will never go wrong with any of them! We also took advantage of room service for breakfast on several occasions, so we could enjoy our balcony a little more. The beach, while a little on the small side, was not crowded in November and beautiful. Coming from upstate NY in Nov., it was nice to be able to enjoy such warm water. We did the included Dunn's River Falls tour- lots of fun! We overall liked the location, central to the couple tours we wanted to do, but it is 1.5 hours from the airport. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but that made it feel a little more secluded in our opinion- lots of little nooks to have a few minutes away that wasn't your room. We also got a couples massage (my husband's first) and both felt it was well worth it! All in all, we highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!

We literally just got home from this beautiful resort and can offer a few comments and concerns. Having been to various Jamaican hotels well over 20 times in our past 30 years hopefully wil give you a clear review.
Arriving at the airport and arriving into the Couples lounge is always refreshing after a long flight. We had our Red Stripe draft and then quickly left for Ochos.
We must say that arriving at the hotel was a let down compared to Tower Island. We actually did not even feel that Jamaican warmth from the bellhop to the front desk . A smile or even that "welcome home" would have gone such a long way.
Our beachfront room was in a perfect location however yes the rooms could use some remodelling. The bed however was terrific as was the room attendant service.
The grounds are amazingingly clean and very lush and tropical.
If you are there one week and are a repeat then you will have three dinners planned and then can go to the other three for a different feel each night. Pallazino for lunch and breakfast was very good and relaxing with our outdoor table.

All in all we feel this is a very good property but also feel that it is there "lead in" Couples hotel compared to the other three.

If you have a chance to meet Una or number 16 as she refers herself then do it. This lady is very spiritual and made our trip. She greeted us with the biggest smile and as we got to know her always got a big hug! I have no idea why she is not greeting guests as they arrive as to us this is the real reason we keep going back is because of the Jamaicans.

Room Tip: Try to meet Una and also Crackers the parrot.

This was our 2nd Couples' resort to visit (CSA last year). We were splitting our stay between CSS (5 days) and CSA (7 days). We spent a total of 5 days and we really enjoyed the relaxing, serene and romantic atmosphere. We knew not to expect a "Negril's" type beach and we also new that the resort is not the "modern" type. We choose to visit this resort since we wanted to visit Ocho Rios to see if we might like it as much as Negril (more on that later) and we knew we couldn't do wrong with the Couples chain (and it didn't disappoint!). The reason I gave this resort a 4 stars is because if I compare it to the other Couples' resort we visited (CSA), it doesn't offer as much "bang" for your buck : (not as many restaurant choices, very small beach, no catamaran tour).

After a 1hr, 45 min., ride, we were greated by the most amazing staff! Everyone was enjoyable and friendly. We had a first floor beachfront suite which we thought was a big enough room, very clean and convenient to walk out to the beach or pool. We had no issues. Yes, the furniture and bathroom are dated, but we don't mind it since it gives it a tropical relaxing atmosphere. The balcony is smaller, but for us it was fine for our morning coffee and pre dinner drinks. We did the pre check-in, and within an hour of being in the room, our mini-fridge was stocked with our preferrences that we put on our order form. During the remaining of our stay, the mini-fridge was stocked daily, we called while we were getting ready for dinner, and in 10-15 minutes, the server was always at our door to re-stock (red stripe every time ;), no issues there.
The grounds are incredibly lush, tropical, such beauty all around! There is always a little corner to explore and to be romantic. This is a very romantic and serene resort. The stairs give it a "castle" like kinda atmosphere, and are great to burn off those extra calories from the awsome food and drinks!
The beach at CSS is very small, we did swim in it a few time, but it wasn't that clear blue water that you will find in Negril (but again, we knew this). We really enjoyed the beach volley ball and the watersports team staff was amazing, fun and vibrant! We did the pool scene on a few days, played volleyball, enjoyed the swim up bar. All good! We did venture to SSB one evening for sunset, but we were really disapointed in that beach (in our opinion). If we were a AN type of couple, I'm not sure I would spend my days at that beach, it really needs some TLC, so for us, we felt like we didn't miss out on that experience.
The food at this resort was excellent! The waiting staff was incredible and friendly. Yes, there are not many choices of restaurant, but the food is excellent! I still can't understang why someone would complain about this when this information is all on the website. The lady that welcomed us on most morning at the Pallazina breakfast buffet was so friendly and curteous. We miss her smile and welcome... We really enjoyed the beach bar, Anthoy was so fun and energenic! His Bob Marley were, well, strong! We really enjoyed having fun with the bartenders and other couples we met at this bar. Good times!
We did the couples' massage in one of the hide away huts and it was total bliss. Very relaxing and the girls did a great job! I used the fitness pavillion on one morning and really enjoyed it. The health bar server did a great job on the smoothies, very good! During that week, there was a fitness instructor, however, I wish they had advertised it more, since I found out only on the day before leaving since I was jogging around the pond on most mornings. Yes, there is a very bad smell next to the tennis courts, not very appealing. I think the fitness pavillion was maybe affected by the hurricane, because the grounds in front of it are in need of renos. Not sure as to when this will be fixed?
We did the Dunn's River Falls tour and it was really fun! We're really glad we experienced it, however, not sure I would go out of my way to do it again.
All in all, this was a very memorable romantic getaway, but after 5 days, we were ready to go home to CSA where we could find more "action". We took the transfer shuttle at 8am and were in the lobby at CSA at 10:30am. The ride went by very fast and our driver was very knowledgable and friendly! We learned quite a few things on the way, very informative! Another thing we noticed was the weather. In all our 5 days, we had maybe 1 full day of sun, but most days were cloudy and drizzly. The weather was warm enough to wear your swimsuit, but not hot enough to swim in and out all day. Once we arrived in Negril, the weather was sunny and hot for the whole week! What a difference! For us, we really prefer Negril for it's sunny weather, it's beach and the whole layout and atmosphere of the CSA property which we love! Ocho Rios is very lush and beautiful, we are happy we visited, but we mostly will continue our visits to Negril.
I would recommend for couples who seek romance, serenity and relaxation and don't mind the small beach.

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs, the beachfont suites are in a perfect location!

This was our 6th trip to Couples Sans Souci! We enjoyed our stay and have trip #7 planned. We always book a Penthouse Suite and this trip we had the Steve McQueen Suite D-14. We love this suite because of its great view and 1.5 baths! The half bath makes getting ready so much easier. As always, the food was fabulous, the liquor was plentiful, and the staff amazing! Once again CSS put on a wonderful show for New Year's Eve! We can't wait for our next trip!

Room Tip: We have only stayed in Penthouse Suites. Our favorites are in D Block.
