“Good experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

If you are going to Jamaica this is a must see. Yes it is crowded and you will feel like cattle when you first start out BUT distance yourself from the group and have fun. Fun is what you make of it. Where can you walk up a cool waterfall and have a blast. IT really is fun to do. Yes it is expensive but it is a long way up so not a total rip off. I agree with the post that the market at the top has very pushy Jamaicans trying to sell you stuff, just walk on through and say no thank you. Don't forget your water shoes and tips for your guide.

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

A visit to Dunns river falls is a day well spent. The staff and guides were great, they were great at taking pictures with your own camera, saved you paying for the professional pictures, of course they did expect a small tip after as with everything. Also provided a great atmosphere, singing and dancing throughout. If I was to go again I don't think I would go with a guide, they are trying to move many groups up the falls as quickly as possible, whereas people by themselves were able to sit on the rocks and relax.

Definitely need water shoes, which can be hired at the falls, however we had our own, a waterproof camera and very little clothing, swimwear is perfect!

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

We went twice on our vacation. The first time it was just about to close and there were hardly any other people. This was absolutely magical! The second time we went as part of a tour group. That really sucked. Bottom line, definitely go on your own either really early or late.

“Nice natural wonders with harassing natives.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

We went to the falls as part of an excursion through Carnival Cruise Lines. When we arrived we were immediately bombarded with people asking for money and forcing their handmade products on us. We even witnessed a drug transactions. Overall our personal safety was a concern.

You are herded and I mean herded into the park by a representative from the park and then handed off a tour guide who takes you through the falls. The falls themselves are great. This excursion does require physical exertion. The tour guide we had was rude and did not talk much. He lead us up the falls in a chain, whenever we went into an area we were not supposed to go he screamed or made grunts for us to move.

Upon completion of the tour you are immediately hounded for money. Our tour guide demanded a tip and when I told him we did not bring cash he followed me to collect the money I would receive back from my locker rental return. The entire trip out to the parking lot people follow you for money. We will never return to Dunns River Falls. If you are a sportsman and like mountain climbing you should put this on your bucket list, if not don't bother with the Dunns River Falls.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

Falls are beautiful! The guides are excellent and will make sure that you reach the top safely. We prepared to get wet—you will be soaked from head to toe. A must do if you are in Jamaica.
