“Welcome Home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

"Welcome Home" is the motto that greets you upon arrival to this beautiful small, quiet resort and it truly becomes your home away from home. The general manager, Kyle, welcomed us when we checked in and regularly touched base with all guests every day.
We stayed in a premier verandah suite in the west wing with its outdoor living room overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Each morning we ordered breakfast to our room and enjoyed feeding the tropical fish from our balcony.
The beach is beautiful with plenty of space for everyone to relax without intruding in each other's space. Servers can bring you lunch right to your lounge chairs if you wish which we took advantage of every day.
Food at this resort was surprisingly excellent with the dinner menus changing every night with a good variety of choices. Service during dinner was exceptionally good. We did find the beach service was inconsistent...some days we were offered drinks from the bar throughout the day and lunch menus while other days the servers were MIA.
The resort offered a must see excursion to visit a nearby beach and meet Turtle Mel, a leader in sea turtle protection, to witness baby sea turtles hatch and to ensure they safely make it to Sea. It was an amazing experience and it was good to see Kyle and the Jamaican Inn team support this cause.
To sum it up, this boutique small resort is perfectly suited for people who just want to unwind in peace and quiet on the beach. It has a charm that you need to experience to understand. Thanks to the Jamaica Inn team for an excellent vacation and special thanks to Shadow the puppy for always putting a smile on our faces.

My hubby and I booked Jamaica Inn based on Trip Advisor reviews for 4 nights/5 days for a quick getaway from Texas. My expectations were quite high because of all the incredible reviews, but after returning home yesterday I can say my expectations were exceeded.

We were looking to unwind, relax and get away from work for a few days. This is the PERFECT spot to do just that. There is a wonderful sense of peace and quiet at the Jamaica Inn and we fell right in to the rhythm there. We had a premiere verandah suite in the west wing, directly over the water. It was stunning the say the least. I would highly recommend staying in the west wing. Your verandah is on top of the clear, turquoise seas, and you can peer down and watch the colorful fish swimming right by. It is completely private! All the other verandah rooms on the property (except the cottages) have a path that walks in front of them, so you must be dressed when you're on the verandah. The west wing is so private, the only people who can see you would have to be on a boat.

Breakfasts were ordered in and delivered with a smile to our verandah. There's nothing like having coffee and delicious breakfast while lounging in your PJs in complete privacy and with views to die for. The long days were spent entirely on the beach, with a good book separated by warm dips in the ocean. Water is clear as the the air, warm as a bathtub, and feels like you have the whole beach to yourself. Even when the resort was full, we never felt like it was full, and hardly talked to anyone while we were there (which is just the way we wanted it.) After a long day of relaxing on the beach, we'd head back to the verandah to watch the sunset and shower up for dinner. Dinner started at 7:30 and we enjoyed every meal we had. Yes, it's true what they all say, the food cost can add up quickly, but it was worth the price. We heard the other guests raving about the food, and a couple of the meals we had were some of the best we've had anywhere. The "all day" menu that we ordered from on the beach did leave a little to be desired, but the dinners at the restaurant were excellent.

A couple things you may need to know before booking:
- No TV's, clocks, or radios (It's VERY quiet!)
-The meal plan is not necessary. We got plenty of food by just ordering off the menus. It would've cost of twice the price if we did the meal plan, and as it was we were stuffed at dinner after having bread, wine, salad and entree. (The meal plan dinner includes 5 courses!)
- The products in the bathroom are not great. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner and lotions. They only provide the 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner which is not great for women with long hair who've been swimming in salt water.
- Be prepared to hear "what's your room number?" about 10 times a day. They never have you sign a check or a bill, but they keep tabs based on your room number. Even when we'd been there for 3 days, no one ever remembered which room we were in.
- Men need a collared shirt and trousers for dinner. Most women were in dresses and sandals. Leave the fancy jewelry behind. It's not that kind of place. I didn't even wear makeup to dinner. It's lit by candlelight and no can even see you that closely.
- You can't walk/run on the beach here. The beach is too small for a walk/jog, but it's exactly what we wanted for laying out and swimming. It's the best beach we've ever swam in and we've been to beaches around the world.
- Book the private driver from the airport. It was worth it to sit back with a Red Stripe and learn a little about Jamaica as we were driven an hour and a half to the Inn. No need for a rental car. Once you're at the inn it's a $24 cab ride to town, which is only worth seeing once.
- Fishing with Marvin and Tony was fun! We caught 4 tunas and kept the larger one for us. The chef took our fish and made ceviche and grilled tuna for our dinner that night. Awesome!

If your'e looking for a buffet, the flat screen TVs, or a pool party, book Sandals Resort down the street. If you want to getaway and de-stress with your spouse in a beautiful, quiet, intimate place, then book the Jamaica Inn.

Room Tip: If you want privacy, book the West Wing. It's literally ON the water (not on the beach) and you...

If you are looking for quiet elegance, and not a party resort, this is the finest on the island.
Small, upscale resort....with the owners talking to us daily. Staff has been here for years, and the visitors who return time and again know one another by name. The bartender near the pool has been here over 50 years! Beautiful private beach with most water sports included. One of the world famous spas with the best view of the Caribbean during the massage treatment. Free yoga but only weekly. Free appetizers each evening. Live band nightly. Hands down, the best rooms are the west wing premier veranda over the water. Breakfast in the room is amazing. A bit warm during afternoon on the balcony, but best place for the sunset. Flowers all over the room and balcony (actually an outdoor living room and breakfast room with refrigerator and huge patio.) Service is great...sometimes on Jamaica time tho...the White suite is the best but incredibly pricey so stick with the premier veranda...near everything...coffee steps away in the morning as is the dining. Can see Sandals from across the water but never once disturbed us.
Make sure to have the staff show you exactly how to work the air conditioner!
Only concern is the still air makes it too warm for all of the outdoor dining...wear cool comfortable clothing. Dinner requires a collared shirt and slacks, but way too warm for a jacket. The staff could not be friendlier! Visitors come back from everywhere sometimes 3 times a year! Better to come other times than summer.

Not necessary for the all inclusive as we found we could not spend that much in food or drink. You can turn on or off the all inclusive if you change your mind. We did. Definitely have breakfast in your room.
Had not been to Jamaica since our honeymoon over 40 years ago. Glad we came back...and glad we chose Jamaica Inn. Thanks to the tripadvisor blogs for their help in our making the right choice.

Room Tip: Definitely west wing over the water. No question.

After spending many hours trying to decide where my small family could celebrate a special reunion, close to the USA, the Jamaica Inn won out, due to many reasons, including a white sand private beach and a place we all had not visited previously.
It proved to be well beyond our expectations. Not only did it have the Perfect idyllic turquoise beach, where we spent many hours reading, drinking, eating, swimming (kayaking, on floaties, etcetera) but it was discreet, charming and elegant.
Our stylish spacious cottage overlooked the translucent aqua waters, the feeling of nostalgia was romantic, but still contemporary, the grounds and 50's lilac blue/white architecture superb, the local staff gracious, good humoured and welcoming.
Our short excursions from the hotel were interesting and varied, with a terrific visit to the local markets, followed by a cooking demonstration and delicious tasting by the great informative Chef Maurice.
Tony, our warm, interesting driver, was and is a gem! We requested for him to take us to the beautiful Dunn's River Falls, and back to the airport, which is a 1.5 hour drive, with a tasty stopover at Scotchies!
We appreciated meeting the hospitable owner who ensured that all of his guests were comfortable and making this very special historic hotel their 'own'.
Our older children plan to return
as we do.

We came from Europe just for the weekend - booked Jamaica Inn on the basis of web review and they didn't disappoint. Everything was impeccable starting with the logistics of arranging VIP meet & greet for immigration and helicopter transfer from Kingston. General service level was excellent, accommodation awesome and breakfast "lush"! Can't wait to go back! (strongly recommend cottage 4!). Special mentions for Gerry (Reservations Mgr) who handled everything for us speedily via email; Teddy the famous barman on the beech with his cheerily served but deadly cocktails and Brian (resident taxi driver) who's local knowledge and humor made the trip especially memorable.

We stayed a single night at Jamaica Inn in one of their beachfront rooms with an outside veranda which opens directly onto the beach. One of my favorite places we stayed our week on the island.

Pros: The most welcoming staff. Upon arriving, you are greeted with the most beautiful view of white sands, palm tree umbrellas, and clear blue waters. The veranda makes this place worth the stay. Bathroom was clean. The tub was wonderful to soak in though after swimming in the ocean. Dinner overlooking the water with a live band made for a lovely way to spend the evening. We were greeted and sent off by the manager. He was kind and made our stay feel very special. The property is also a lot of fun to explore. Secret stairways to little gullies you can swim in and the most spectacular sunset!

Cons: Strict old-school rules of no shorts and only collared shirts to dinner. Food is pricey. Beds are a bit too soft.

Other things to note: If you want a lot of room to swim in the ocean without having to worry about reef this is the place to be! The beaches are calm and quiet and you have lots of room to play in the water. (In other words, you'll have to swim further out - and beware of speeding boats - if you want to do any snorkeling). No large pool. This is a place for swimming in the ocean. :)

Overall rating: 4 to 4.5stars

Room Tip: The beachfront rooms are so perfect.

this was a fantastic getaway. i would recommend Jamaica Inn to anyone looking for a vacation where the staff is attentive, the setting is luxurious, and the vibe is tranquil. we didn't do anything but sit on the beach for three days, and it was the exact vacation we wanted. if you're looking for a planned, activity-filled, lots-of-choices vacation, Jamaica Inn isn't for you. if you're looking to be waited on, for privacy, for true relaxation, Jamaica Inn is for you.

the food was great, but, like other reviewers said, very expensive. we chose to order most of our food from the "all day" menu, and that worked well for us. we also ate our dinners on our veranda, and that was more relaxing than the dinner they offered (although the dinners were quite nice-- live music, great staff, beautiful setting).

perks: free water sports (kayaks, paddle boards, snorkling), a complimentary massage at the spa (amazing setting!), coconuts on the beach, Shadow the puppy.

well worth the expense and travel. enjoy Jamaica Inn!

Room Tip: honestly, all rooms are fantastic. if you can, stay in the suites or the cottages.
