pretty place, very relaxing and the staff is fantastic. However, at night the in Villa 2 the flying cockroaches came out. They were huge, bigger than the ones in New York. for $1000 a night, not exactly ideal. I can hang with the cockroaches for free in the New York subway lines!!!!

Goldeneye is the perfect spot for an idyllic vacation. Whether one is looking for a romantic getaway or a place to spend a holiday with some friends ( the Ian Fleming Villa has three bedrooms) you will be amazed by the location, the evocative atmosphere of the house, the perfect service, the delicious food and altogether what makes this a great place and a great sample of the Jamaican hospitality. If you're lucky enough to meet there owner/hotelier/ record industry magician Chris Blackwell then you will really hit the jackpot!
P.S. One of the best places in the world for jetskiing!

My husband and I stayed at Goldeneye in November after getting married at RIU Ocho Rios. We were delighted from the moment we were picked up by Laurel, who was the most delightful driver I've ever met. When you arrive at Goldeneye, you will be greeted by grounds that are not only well kept, but unique to the resort. Banyan trees, fruit trees, palm trees, beautiful flowers, and tucked away villas...We stayed in the Honey Chile villa and were immediately drawn to the terrace which overlooks the lagoon and private beach. We enjoyed a bubble bath our first night which is a clawfoot that faces french doors that open to your private outdoor shower under a banyan tree. And it gets better. The staff is attentive and catered to our every need. Our villa was kept spotless. The water activities staff took us out on the resort's glass bottom boat for a tour along the coast. The dining staff was absolutely phenomenal. My husband who is a Jamaica native and very particular about Jamaican cuisine was absolutely in heaven when it came to the meals prepared by the chef. A perfect combination of Jamaican and Western cuisine to satisfy different tastes were presented three times a day and I will say that the food surpassed my favorite restaurants in the states. The food was delectable and made fresh daily. We were even treated one day to a special surprise: Stewed Peas. A traditional Jamaican dish that is my husband's absolute favorite. This was the one dish he wanted and wasn't sure he'd get. Not only did he get it, but it was prepared to perfection. Our last night at Goldeneye was spent on our terrace having a couples massage at sunset. Dawn and Megan were amazing. From the staff, to the grounds, to the food, to the amazing beach and lagoon, you will have an amazing experience that will surpass all expectations. Even with it being the rainy season, nothing could have ruined such a spectacular time. Thanks Goldeneye!

The resort has many beautiful tropical plants and trees. Sunsets are gorgeous. The property and the views were breathtaking. We stayed in Villa 3 with other family members. This “villa” is really a cluster of 5 huts: three bedrooms, a kitchen and a TV room. Each bedroom has its own outdoor shower and they all have ocean views. The kitchen was well stocked: white and red wines, milk Jamaican beer and rum. Our villa had its own private deck to the lagoon. The lagoon is crystal clear and full of little fish. I would give the property an A.

Food is included in the package, and there is no need to go out for food. The chef prepares a variety of standard and adventurous dishes to satisfy any and all palettes at every meal. For example breakfast offers a choice of bacon and eggs, or local delicacies – beans and salt fish, ackee, boiled banana and breadfruit, or a combination. Our first dinner was a tasty choice of beef or shrimp spiced with Jamaican flavors. The food was absolutely amazing and interesting. The food would get an A+ with honors.

The service was very nice. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The driver Laurel was very friendly and funny. The service was an A.

Note: Even though this is a lovely property, it could be better. There are fishermen that fish on the reef. We saw spear-gun fisherman swimming within 10 yards of us snorkelers. This could be one reason there are fewer larger fish than found in Cozumel, where any fishing on the reef is prohibited. Our guide, said the spear fisherman often dive down to shoot the fish, aiming either laterally or upwards. I was happy that I was not mistaken for a barracuda. Management needs to step in and prohibit fishing on the property.

  • Liked — Views, outdoor showers and the FOOD!
  • Disliked — Fishing on the property and lack of bigger fish on the reef
