Recently my boyfriend and I stayed at Goldeneye. We had booked the 1 bedroom bungalow, but by a fluke we were put in the 3 bedroom main house and had it all to ourselves. Being able to sit at the writing desk where Ian Fleming penned many of his James Bond novels with the fans whirring overhead was a thrill all by itself, not to mention the enormous king bed in the master bedroom swatched in billows of cloud-like mosquito netting, the outdoor bathroom complete with giant banana leaves, oversize shower and bath filled with tranquil bathsalts, the view of the sea through the open windows and doors, and the amazing, romantic setting on a bluff overlooking the sea. We played groovy music (the speakers pipe the music all over the property), stared in a zen like state at the yin and yang fountain in the beautiful fish and lily pond, frolicked down to "our" private beach and explored the little grottoes and enjoyed the private kayaks. The food was amazingly good and the staff relaxed and helpful. The bar was fully stocked and we enjoyed snacks in the entertainment bungalow while watching our own private screenings of James Bond movies. At night the staff sneaked in (we never saw them) to light candles all over the beautiful gardens and we had a candlelit/moonlit swim in the private pool. Truly an experience we will never forget.
