“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The hotel is small however the room was fantastic right outside the balcony door was a view of the ocean. The resturant options a few but the food is good and consistent. Small cove for a beach. the staff are very good so i had a really great time. It is also walking distance from many options for shopping and just taking a stroll.

Room Tip: high floor has a better view and is much quieter than the ground floor

Absolutely loved this hotel, the location and friendly staff made it a perfect break. The quality and variety of food was excellent from snacks to buffet meals could not fault. The entertainment team were spectacular and worked hard to make sure everyone enjoyed.
Only gripe was having to pay for wifi 2015 people!! But other than that a fantastic family break!

This hotel is our little paradise ..Nothing grand just gorgeous ocean views friendly staff and delicious food ... We stayed july 13 -27 th .. Had a lovely time .....The only one downfall at this hotel is the front desk staff ...( We always dread that bit ) They are just difficult and unfriendly once you have got the check in over with and get a room suitable for your party size All other staff are such friendly helpful people ! ....The rooms are spacious and all have a wonderful ocean view . Ours was kept lovely and clean by housekeeping ...The buffet restaurant is ocean front so the dining experience is fabulous .. The dining room staff are incredible so friendly and helpful ... The food in my opinion is always delicious lots of options and very tasty ... We also ate out of the resort a few times .. Scotchies jerk chicken bar ... Biggs American diner and Donways which is just opposite the hotel they do amazing bbq chicken wings but also cappucino and cupcakes ... They give you a free wifi code which will then work in the hotel lobby area ... Saves you $5 that the hotel charge .... The beaches here are small but pretty and Never feel crowded there are always plenty of sunloungers .. All areas of this hotel are kept so clean the gardens are pretty and generally everyone works so hard to keep it looking incredible ..... We loved just wandering down the strip drinking a red stripe chatting to locals and picking up souvenirs ... If we wanted a taxi we would use Zipp he can be found just across from the hotel very reliable and reasonable and very knowledgable always tells you great stories about Jamaica... We went to the Reggae Sumfest Zipp dropped us off at 10pm and he returned for us at 6.30am looking for us in the crowds of people ( he is a star ) He also took us to the river rafting at the Martha Brae ( highly recommended so relaxing ) again very reasonable taxi fare and he waits for you ... All in all we Love Jamaica and this hotel is a great value no frills experience but rich in Jamaican authenticity and hospitality ..... We will be back next year ❤️

The hotel is literally 5 minutes from the airport.
Upon arrival at RDC we were greeted with cocktails as we waited to check in.
Check in was fairly smooth, no issues.

Our family of 6 (2 adults, 4 teens) had two rooms at RDC the last week of Aug 2015. We booked two rooms, 3 in each room. We requested rooms side by side in advance and received rooms close to each other (one room in between) so our request was largely but not fully met. The rooms were generally clean and comfortable in the context of Jamaica. Air conditioning was excellent for the hot and humid climate.
Our rooms were Oceanside on the 3rd floor and the view was outstanding.

Food at RDC in the buffet was very good with great variety each day. We especially enjoyed West Indian food which was largely authentic. Service was excellent in the dining room with constant approaches by staff anticipating our needs. We looked forward each day and each sitting to discover what was available to eat and we were rarely disappointed. We all enjoyed the food and got to know the friendly servers.

The resort was nice overall. We enjoyed the beach, outdoor and indoor lounging areas, fitness centre (although it is quite sparse but fine for finding a treadmill), outdoor chess, evening shows are ok although can be risque and the snack bar.

As for the surrounding area the "Hip Strip" shopping area is right outside the hotel. These shops (continuing for several blocks) are small store front shops offering various souvenirs. Most of the stores have similar offerings but worth the walk. Bargaining is paramount. There are also several restaurants along the way that overlook Mobay.

On the downside there is a cost for WIFI (which we avoided using) and a deposit must be made for calling, even for local calls which must be conducted via the front desk. These were inconveniences.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider staying again if visiting Jamaica.

Room Tip: There are two computers by the bar close to the front of the restaurant that are internet connected...

I travel to Jamaica once every year to visit my family. My husband and I decided to stay at a resort to just relax and have a good time...not that we don't have a good time when we stay with relatives but we wanted some alone time. When we got there, the manger offered us a deal we couldn't refuse...4 nights at their Runaway Bay resort in St. Ann we got a suite + a private dinner by the beach + transportation!! Then we spent our last two nights back in Montego Bay. The rooms, staff, food, entertainment was up like 7 at both locations!! We would definitely stay at either location again in the future!

I have traveled the world and this hotel is the poorest when it comes to customer service. Every day is a learning experience and yes before using a travel agent you should first check reviews on the place you are about to book.
The Front Office personnel need to be trained in customer service. The Hotel Industry is all about customer service and this department is lacking from check in to check out. At check out they can't even produce a settlement bill. I have never seen this in all my years of travelling throughout the world. The management of Royal Decameron Montego Bay need to take a close look of how their guests are treated. They need to have questionnaires for general guest accommodation . I arrived early at the hotel on August 12 at 9:30 am and was not given a room until after 3pm. I was told the check in policy was at 3pm but after staying in the Ocho Rios area, I had no choice due to transportation but to leave that accommodation early so I could be in Montego Bay. This place did not even try to accommodate me and after 3pm sent me to a dirty room where the maid was busy watching television and talking to another maid. This is the service I received for $204.00 per night.
Management - Mr. General Manager you need to take time out for your guests. You are not always busy in meetings.

All round we had an amazing time at this hotel it was my 3rd time at the hotel. I was there 10 years ago and it's not changed much which was good cause I loved it before. Restaurant stuff where really friendly and helpful there was a waiter Omar he was so Lovely and always smiling. There was also a trainee waiter who was so polite and helpful! The only thing I would have to say was on arrival the reception staff where not too helpful and didn't get much information. Also asked for a room change because my partner has a bad knee and was struggling with the stairs. The guest services where very helpful with this and said it was all okay then when we went to the reception to get the new keys they said it wasn't possible. In the end it was sorted.
The water sports and snorkelling was fantastic. Beautiful seating areas to relax. Bar staff extremely friendly and inviting.
There was also a snack bar that provided hot snacks fresh which was great. The food was unusual but was great to try new things and was also lovely.
Our room was always clean and was spacious.
The entertainment staff really are fabulous they always gave an amazing night time show and had games for during the day.
The cocktails where amazing and my new favourite drink is rum cream.
The internet is quite expensive it was 5 dollars for an hour.
All round I was definitely return again and again.
