“A rather nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Royal Decameron Montego Bay is a rather nice hotel, located very near the sea and surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The beach is sandy, but not very large. The breakfasts were fine, but the other meals were rather monotonous and after a week we couldn’t look at the jerk chicken anymore :) Every second day there was a dance show at dinner service. I have ambiguous feeling about the service. While the food service was excellent, housekeeping seemed to adhere to very random hours – sometimes the rooms were still not cleaned at 2 p.m. So if you want it spick and span – this might not be your best choice.

This was our first trip to Montego Bay and upon our arrival at this resort we were put in a room next to an area that was under major construction. We were not at all pleased with since we had a late flight and was there to enjoy without the noise of drills and hammers. We did complain and was told that it should not last too much longer we went to eat and came back about 11:30 and the noise was still going. Finally after the 2nd complaint it stopped and the next morning started again at 9am we immediately asked for a room change and it was changed. The resort needs much updating, but the room and areas were clean and the a/c worked great.. The food was good and staff were nice.

Room Tip: stay away from room 42

We stayed at the Royal Decameron from Aug 4th - 11th. This is my 3rd trip to Montego Bay but my first time staying at this resort. It was very nice to be 5 minutes from the Airport and walking distance to the Hip Strip. We were in room 101 which was the first room from the lobby, we had a front door and a back door that lead right out to the beach area. The food daily was very good, never had a complaint about the breakfast, lunch or dinner. The entertainment was entertaining and we even went to the nightclub one night. We were never bored, always something to do. This resort is small, but it never seemed crowded. I stayed at larger resorts and definitely like the smaller one better. We left the resort twice and used Zipp a taxi driver across the street, he was very nice. We plan to return next year and will come back to the Royal Decameron.

Room Tip: We like 101 on the first floor it was close to the dining and beach areas.

So it's my 3rd time here at Decameron - I came the third week of July and I have to say that 3rd time is definitely a charm. The food was much tastier than before - our room on the 4th floor was very clean - no issues with any bed bugs or theft from the room. Staff was friendly as always and I felt they always made sure you were looked after. I've become a bit of a pro on Montego Bay and stayed at other resorts - I definitely recommend Decameron. The location is perfect as it is right on the hip strip and easy to get around. You will love it!

Room Tip: Rooms above the first floor are much more quieter.
