I would definitely recommend this resort. Staff here is phenomenal, I've never met such a friendly bunch of people! Extremely clean, and kept.
Service was top notch! Even on the beach, you finished a drink and you had somebody there immediately asking if they could get you another!
Very close to airport, which was a plus for me, I hate the long haul in a shuttle bus, planes go over top but it wasn't bothersome to me.
The food was great, a few mentioned their steaks being over done but mine was perfectly cooked at medium rare. Italian was my favorite. The buffet was ok, you could always find something. I had the specialty restaurants every night. And the room service club house! Wow :)
We really liked the beach grill for a quick bite for lunch!
Go check out the luminous lagoon! You won't regret that decision, magical experience!

We just returned from a four night stay. The resort is close to the airport. We grabbed a taxi and paid $20. Obviously you will hear planes...every resort in mobay has planes flying overhead. I just looked at is saving the 1.5 hour trip to negril.

Food was good. Buffet selection for breakfast and lunch was great, but not much variation day to day. Had I stayed any longer it would have bothered me. We ate at the steak house and we were NOT impressed. My steak was ordered medium and it came out well, lobster was overcooked. Overall, we didn't get what the hype was about. Other people there said the same thing, so it wasn't just us. The Asian place was meh, but we enjoyed the fusion place. Did not try the Italian place, but others said it was good. We also did not eat the buffet for dinner. We had no problems getting into a restaurant at all. We also did the beach dinner...worth every single penny. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was outstanding. You have to go to the jerk chicken hut on the beach at the other resort. Very authentic.

As others have said, the rooms are great. We got a courtyard view, but I could see the ocean if I sat on one side of the balcony. They do a great job keeping the rooms and resort clean.

The staff was AMAZING. Seriously, best staff I have ever encountered. We arrived at the resort at around 11 am, and they went out of their way to get us a room. The bartenders, servers, cleaners, etc were great.

My only hesitation about this resort is it was kind of...boring. We found some great people to talk to, but if we hadn't we would have been very bored. A lot of the guests were much older. I know they said the entertainment is next door, but we went over there and immediately wanted to go back...it was nasty. One day they had steel drums playing on the beach. They should really do stuff like that more often. It was the highlight of our days.

I recommend this resort. We got a great deal, and feel like we def could not have done better for the money. We might not go back bc we really prefer the beaches of negril...this beach was just alright.

Also, you can go snorkeling for $30 a person at the water sports hut at the resort next door.

We arrived 3/13 and very few people so it was very quiet and easy to get in to the restaurants in the evening. The two pools were also quiet and lots of empty chairs. Nice adults-only resort with livelier entertainment available right next door. We had an ocean front room with a nice balcony. Had to wait a few hours for our room on check-in and were told they would send "something" to our room to make up for it, but never received anything. Usually don't enjoy buffet meals but the breakfast and lunch buffets at the Seaside restaurant were great and the staff there was exceptionally friendly. Ate twice at the Italian Restaurant because it was also delicious. Fairly slow at the Japanese Restaurant. Took a day trip to Dunn's River Falls and climbed the falls - a very fun trip and good way to see some countryside if you haven't been to Jamaica before.

Room Tip: Loved the ocean front balcony room. Could not hear people from next door, but could hear noise from...

My husband and I have just returned from a week at Riu Palace. We have stayed in many hotels and I can honestly say the service here is the best we have ever had! All staff were extremely attentive and very friendly. This is a great place to go if you want to relax and receive 5* treatment. There are 4 restaurants and a buffet. All restaurants are not open every night, so that is something to be aware of. Quality of food was very good and there was a great selection. Our room was excellent and very clean. There is some entertainment in the hotel but if you like to party into the early hours you can use the Riu MB next door. The only downside to the hotel is that it s very close to the airport so you do hear several planes taking off throughout the day. Other than this slight clitch it was the perfect vacation and we would return in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: If you don't mind paying extra go for an ocean view.

We stayed for 11 nights and everything was great. Its not far from the airport which is nice because we were so excited getting off the plane that we couldn't stand the wait after we counted down the days and hours until check in. We were nervous because we are usually OCD trip planning. We read every review, good and bad and check trip advisor daily. There weren't too many reviews since it was a new resort and we were very nervous.

We kept thinking that their might be problems because it was new and they might not have all the kinks worked out. They do! It runs like a well oiled machine!

Staff was great, we especially loved Florence from reception and Presley at the Acua bar.

Don't forget the resort is attached to Riu Montego Bay and you can use all their amenities, but they cannot use ours (palace's). Its almost like two hotels for the price of one.

Room are huge and very comfy. We loved that it was very modern, reminded us of the newer hotels in Las Vegas's upscale strip area like the Aria. Fridge is stocked daily and if you like something you can request more of it and less of something else. My husband is a picky craft beer person so he didn't like the Caribe beer, but we got extra water and alcohol instead.

I think we are still bigger fans of the Excellence hotels but only because somehow its seems like the staff knows you by name after the first day and it was more intimate. But I would definitely come back here as we got such a great deal, airfare credit and $1800 resort credit, we can't afford NOT to come back through our travel agent.

The whole trip couldn't have been more relaxing. Every staff member is constantly offering drinks, food, anything they can provide. We had a very nice room with an oceanfront view. Pretty low key environment, might not be enough action for some, but fine with us. Beautiful grounds, pools, landscaping. We prefer and love that its Adults Only since we don't have kids we don't really want to hear or see them while we are trying to unwind. No offense to people with kids just our personal preference. My husband loved the bar on the beach while I lay out and tanned (aka: burned !) The water is beautiful but watch how far out you walk, about 15 feet out and it drops off! Also locals/kids walking by the resort on the beach did ask us to give them a dollar or some snacks and it made us a little uncomfortable but it only happened once.

Some of our favorite things were:
Room service 24 hours a day, Grill and steak house, Japanese restaurant, "Krystal" Fusion restaurant, Italian restaurant, Lobby bar (open 24 hrs), Poolside bar with swim-up bar
sun loungers, towels and parasols by the pool , Sun terrace, beach volleyball, gym and the free WiFi throughout the hotel (we brought the iPad and had no problem getting a strong signal to check email and upload photos).

Besides the buffet they have the a la carte restaurants but at the buffet they have:

Breakfast: They have a full American breakfast buffet and on the spot cooking stations, fruits, juices and a small continental breakfast/snack area if you are just wanting a quick bite before an excursion.

Lunch:
Hot and cold buffet and on the spot cooking stations
Pizzas, pasta, salads and assorted desserts

Dinner: Buffets and on the spot cooking stations
Special evenings: Theme buffets (three times a week)
Full dinner service available

We booked our excursions ahead of time and saved money with our travel agent, there were reps on the resort and beach but were more than we paid and they weren't bothering us after we said we had already booked everything.

Since the hotels are attached at night we went to Riu Montego Bay for the shows.
Do not forget to visit Glistening Bay, where at night the plankton glows on the water!

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions, I message people all the time before booking and I don't mind at all :)

Room Tip: Higher room, better oceanview

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Riu Palace Jamaica.

Me and my wife really enjoyed our stay. This is a great place to go if you want to relax and be treated great.
The beach was small, but very private, so not noisy and no vendors bothering you. Was a nice spot so sit and relax, go for a swim. The water was very nice.
The pools were nice as well. Had a good pool bar, and had activities to get involved if you wanted to.
The rooms were very nice and clean. Had plenty of water as well as alcohol if you wanted to drink in room. We usually had drinks at the bar areas. Maid service was great, did your room by mid afternoon and returned to do the beds and a quick touch up in the evening.

Bars - the best part of the place - the bartenders were very enjoyable. They had a good selection of alcohol for an all inclusive. The atmosphere was pretty laid back, so it was nice to talk and meet people. They do have an entertainment team that you can get to know if you want. They have bands and entertainment pretty much every night. It is on a small scale compared to other resorts, but nice.
If you want to really party it up, you have the RIU Montego Bay right next door that you can go to and stay up all night if you want.
Food was very good. The breakfast and lunch buffets were very good, with a great selection. We also went to the Jerk hut on the adjacent property which was great. Dinner had 4 restaurants, usually 3 open a night. All were very good. They had a Mexican night with appetizers and drinks in the courtyard area one night that we really enjoyed.
I like being at the Palace because you felt like you were in a small exclusive resort that was very quiet, laid back, but still a lot of fun to be had. And, you had the option to walk next door for a much more loud and lively atmosphere if you wanted.
If you are looking for miles of beaches to walk, this is probably not your place. But, if you are looking for a nice, classy place with exceptional service, I would recommend this place.
Plus close to airport which is nice. I live in the city, so an occasional plane flying by overhead did not bother me.

We just returned from a 2-week stay at this resort. Nice and close to the airport so no long bus ride. We had an ocean view room, but you had to sit on the side of the balcony to see it. The room was clean, new and in the new contemporary design. Fridge was restocked daily with Caribe beer, water and various sodas. A request for Red Stripe, along with a tip was cheerfully accommodated. It would have been nice to have juices as well, as we had at other Riu Palace properties. Patio doors pull closed and you pull the handle down to lock. It is easy to pull the handle down as you close the door and accidentally lock someone out on the balcony. We were locked out by the maid and had to yell to someone on another balcony to get someone to let us back in. This happened to another couple the very next day so be careful. No worries Mon - we are on vacation and have a good story to tell when we get home. Kids would walk along the fence just outside the property and ask people sitting on the balcony to throw them some pop. Some asked for food or a dollar.

This was our first trip to Jamaica and we were so impressed with how friendly each and every person at this resort is. The front desk staff always had a friendly greeting, bar tenders were great along with wait staff and cleaners. The buffet was great and we ate most if our meals there - lobster every Wednesday, great sushi bar, interesting salads. We used the Sunwing rep to book 2 outings. We toured the Croydon Plantation and saw plants and fruits we had never seen before. They had tasting stations along the tour route with fruit and drinks- yum. The tour guides were fantastic - they even sent a security guard on the bus, although we felt safe at all times. We also asked for a taxi driver who would give us a brief tour of the city along with some shopping. The tour was informative but as another reviewer pointed out the shopping is a joke. We were taken to a small store where t-shirts were listed at $58US and everything else was over-priced - they did offer a 50% discount! The taxi driver visited with his friends and filled up with gas and expected us to pay the extra half hour this took. We did take a walk across the road from the resort and did not enjoy that at all - from the pushiness of the vendors to the kids asking for a dollar, we were happy to just shop at the hotel store.

The beach was fine - a very short walk from the hotel and washrooms close. Beach service was available but service sometimes not that great - but you just get up and walk to the bar to get what you want. A steep drop getting in but you soon get to know where this is. Water was warm and blue - very refreshing. It was very quiet and easy to find shade under a palm tree if you needed it. The beach is very small and if you like to walk the only option is to walk to the end of the Riu Montego Bay property, which is not a long walk at all. The water is very calm and there is no boogie boarding. The entertainment staff offer various activities but are not pushy if you do not wish to participate. We did not use the pool. At other Riu resorts, the pool area was hosed down and cleaned every night, but at this resort the same spilled drink stains were there for days until it rained - this is still a new resort so they will get this straightened out. We did have rain on 4 days for the 2 weeks we were there, but always in late afternoon or evening and a nice break from the heat.

You must take a walk to the jerk hut on the Riu Montego Bay beach next door. It is absolutely the best!

We had a wonderful vacation and loved this resort. The only negative I can think of is the airplanes going over head as they take off from the runway. They are so loud you cannot hear another person talk. Yes you do get used to it, but we came to relax and found them very annoying.
