“My Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My overall experience at the Royalton was great. The service of the Dining Room Manager Allison was phenomenal. Allison made sure whatever we needed we had. She was also very attentive to my needs and listened with whatever I was in need of. Allison was definitely the perfect definition of customer service.

I visited this hotel from the 7th September for 10 nights. We traveled as a group of 8 for a special birthday holiday. I had read a few reviews which made me a little unsure building up to our holiday but on arrival all my worries faded away and I began to feel we had made the best choice. As a group it was our first time in Jamaica and we were not disappointed, In fact we all fell in love with Jamaica and we all will be returning again. I apologise for the long review but just wanted to share my experience.

Check In

After a pleasant flight on board the Dreamliner (Thomson) we arrived at the hotel via coach. One tip about the airport, don't let the guys just take your luggage without asking as they will demand a hefty tip for doing so. This is not a courtesy service as someone in our group found out. This journey took 45 mins from the airport and we were the first drop off. On arrival to the hotel we were greeted with warm flannels and a fruit punch and guided to the reception area and seated. Dahlia (management team) warmly welcomed us to the hotel and told us where to locate our rooms. She was very friendly and we approached her throughout our trip to air a few concerns which were resolved which we were very grateful for.

Room

On arrival to our room (sixth floor) we were pleased to find a modernised room that was nicely decorated. We had an ocean view room which was lovely and the beach and ocean was the most beautiful I've ever seen. Yes the room is small but we rarely spent anytime in there and it turned out to be a perfect size for us. The only downside with our room is we didn't have a bath but the shower was also a rain shower which was a bonus. A few people have mentioned on here the rooms can get quite damp and we only found this was when the patio door was open or wasn't shut properly. As long as you kept an eye on this, you can prevent any slips and condensation on the mirrors. We had our room cleaned everyday and our room turned down every night. Fresh towels were left and the mini fridge was re-stocked. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.

Pool/Beach

There are two pools in this resort both of an adequate size. We spent the majority of our time in the adult pool where the pool bar was located. The adults pool was an infinity pool giving you the best views of the beach and ocean everyday. I never found the music too loud and the entertainment team were always up doing aqua zumba, party dances and poolside competitions. There was plenty going on to keep you entertained including beach games. Big shout out to Reyman at the pool bar who always greeted us with the biggest smile and kept our drinks topped up throughout the day. He was very friendly and made our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble. An asset to the hotel. A great Guy! We sat at the beach everyday and there were always beds available. The ocean was lovely to swim in, the waves were the best. Beach traders do come through the beach but they are not allowed to stop to mither. They have put a fence up to divide the beach which does look like an eyesore but I guess its to separate the two. A few of us wandered over to the beach huts and bought a few things to take home, the Jamaicans are very friendly and are only trying to get by so make sure you make a visit. The hotel also has 4 water slides which were fun to go on and an childrens splash park which looked fun for kids.

Food

Buffet breakfast we all thought was of good standard. The restaurant was very clean and modern and there was plenty of things to choose from. Anyone who says they cant find anything to eat is either very very picky or lying. They even had a fresh smoothie station, as well as an egg and omelette station! The beach hut was open from 1pm seving the best jerk chicken around. The patties were also amazing. There were 4 restaurants on site, one being the buffet restaurant which we visited a few times. Some nights were better than others. Just like any hotel. Our favourites were Zen (the best teppanyaki we have ever tasted) big shout out to the chefs who do an amazing job at keeping the diners entertained all night. They have some fantastic skills! The steak house was also very good serving the best steak. Thanks to the supervisor (sorry we didn't catch her name) who stayed late to help serve our steak dinner after our birthday reservation was messed up. We really appreciate your hard work and the birthday girls enjoyed their birthday meal so thank you. There is also the Italian which we visited a couple of times.

Bars/drinks

There was a sports bar on site which served drinks and cocktails, and food from 3pm. Here they had a number of large screens showing various sports. This bar also turned into a nightclub after 11pm which was fun as it played really good songs and had a great atmosphere, Around the resort the drinks were local (appletons rum and coconut rum) as well as top branded (absolut, grey goose, courvoiser) The cocktails were best at the martini bar, which provided a chilled out spot to sit and relax after dinner. Our favourite was the bikini martini. We had plenty of them throughout the holiday. The lobby bar was also a relaxed spot to sit as it was cooler than outside.

We took a number of trips throughout our holiday. Dunnes river falls, Falmouth and Montego Bay. Each time we used a mini bus driver (Ricky) who was fantastic at driving us around and showing us the sights along the way. He offered us good prices and his bus was spacious and had air conditioning which was great. Would highly recommend him, just ask for him at reception as they have his number Thanks Ricky for giving us a taste of Jamaican life! Great guy!

Overall, I would highly recommend the Royalton White Sands and wouldn't hesitate in staying in your other properties The hotel also offered free WI-FI throughout and had very good signal. This was a great bonus!! For our first trip to Jamaica, we all think this was the perfect hotel. A very modern and well kept hotel. Thankyou Royalton White Sands for giving us one of the best holidays we've been on. If looking at booking this, don't hesitate as you will not regret it! Yeah Mon!

Overall we had a great vacation. The resort was immaculate and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Our view was outstanding (room 629). I would of liked to see more seafood offered at both the buffet and restaurants. Zen restaurant was the best! The food at the sports bar was also good but the service was lacking. Housekeeping- great. Person that stocked our refrigerator- great. Martini bar -great. Breakfast buffet- great. Room service -great. Pool bar- understaffed and extremely slow . Pools- great. Beach is very small. With the exception of very slow service ( pool bar and sports bar, it was quicker to order a drink from the server at the pool....by the way I only drink beer) we had a fantastic time and the resort is beautiful.

I stayed with this resort recently and had a great experience!! The servive was excellent regardless of what the workers are going through which is really why i came to trip advisor. I was so surprise when I spoke to one employee and found out the type of pay they are getting. She told me its around US$120 every 2 weeks. This is really sad and for such a great hotel, you should be doing better. I dont know how the bills structure is in Jamaica but I am sure this cannot pay half the bills and buy food and so on. As I said 'It's really a shame'!!

I stayed at the Royalton over a month ago on the fourth floor. Overall the service was ok, but i am deeply concerned about the salary paid to the Room Attendants. One Room Attendant in particular, assured that she was the last on the shift to leave as she stayed late into the evenings doing odd jobs to make ends meet. Even though she was scheduled for the day shift, she oft stayed late into the evenings due to the paltry salary they were paid. She was warm and friendly as were the other staff and despite of this made sure we were comfortable. A beautiful country, beautiful people, marvelous food and would be beautiful experience without the tinge of shame.

From the time we entered the lobby then 8 days later - leaving the lobby, my personal experience was wonderful. The staff, all of the staff went beyond and gave you that special attention that made you fell like royality.

A very special thanks to the following people who made our 50th birthday vacation special - Dahlia: room manager, Allison: Buffet specialist, Christopher: outside bar, Marlon: Martini bar, Derron: life guard, Richard Scuba guy. There are so many more people I want tot thank - this is and will always be a memorable trip.

We met so many people - other visitors and I know we will all remain friends.......... Again, many thanks for a wonderful venture!!

Room Tip: The higher floors has great view. Overall, we were all over the main building on different floors, a...

Overall the hotel was good, the food was good and the staff was friendly. There was a lot of entertainment throuhgout the day and a show in the evening. This was made possible bij the entertainment crew. The entertainment crew was great especially Ricardo with his personality, Reshawn with his amazing dance moves en Janice was a lot of fun during the games. Besides all of that we had a awesome housekeper nothing was to difficult for her, her name was Michelle she was always smileing. There was a small minor, sometimes the main buffet was closed with out a notice and a long waiting list by the steakhouse.
