“Jamaica's Best Attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

We've toured several different attractions in Jamaica and I'd rank this #1 for getting a flavor of the country, how things work, the possibilities, how resources are used, how people outside the cities live, ingenuity, and for having a very enjoyable day.

Our guides were Alecia and Winston and they both did a fantastic job of making the day a success. They are both very knowledgeable and passionate.

Lots of food tasting, especially various types of pineapple, along with others that you are not likely to experience elsewhere. Also, there is an incredible peace at the plantation that's adds to the ambiance.

Along the one hour bus ride to the plantation you will get a feel for the roads, traffic, school systems, how large vehicles pass each other on one lane roads, housing and construction techniques, and the lifestyle of the people outside the cities.

“Nice tour, beautiful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

My husband and I decided to tour Croydon Plantation during our recent trip to Jamaica and it was our favorite excursion. The trip to Croydon is quite interesting as you travel through a few smaller towns on very steep and narrow roads. It certainly was an adventure! The tour at Croydon is very. You learn about the plantation and the crops that are grown there and you get to sample fruits and juices along the way. Lunch is served at the end of the tour, which overlooks the plantation and several mountainous areas. Our tour guides, Winston and Alicia (not sure of spelling) were fun and engaging and made the trip extra special. Don't miss this tour!

“Educational, tasty and really fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

Our trip to the Croydon plantation was fantastic. We rode over a winding mountain trail up to the plantation experiencing breath taking views of the hills and mountain as we went. Our host, Winston, was a fountain of information telling us of the history of Jamaica from Columbus to modern day including many interesting facts. When we arrived we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the planting and the magnificent view of the mountains surrounding us. Winston introduced us to the art of growing Jamaican coffee, pineapples, and many different fruit. We got to sample everything from four different varieties of pineapple all with different flavors and textures, to many appealing types of fruit and even a ginger tea. All were delicious and when we saw all the forms of planting done here, sat down to an authentic Jamaican lunch with Jerk Chicken, rice and beans and greens. A quick rain storm hit just as we ate lunch but quickly cleared for our trip home. Winston, again the perfect host, entertained us all the way home.
This was one of the most enjoyable guided trips that I have ever experienced and a welcome relief for playing couch potato at the resort.

“First class experience all the way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

I have travelled quite extensively throughout the Caribbean and have to say this was my all time favorite excursion. We booked our tour through our Sunwing Rep at the cost of $75.00 usa per person. Sometimes, we book tours privately but felt for the money this was not worth the extra effort to get a driver etc.
The mini bus transportation was clean, and appeared to be well maintained from the inside. Our tour guide was picked up along the way and he did a great job and explained he was in training. I can only hope he will be as knowledgeable as Alicia our guide at the plantation.
The drive was interesting, road a slight bit bumpy but we had a great driver so we really enjoyed the trip up the mountain. Travel time from Mo. Bay was about 1 hr. Once we got to the plantation the tour started in about 5-10 minutes - there were about 25 of us in total (2 bus loads). We sat in a shaded area and there were very few spots along the way that were not shaded although I would recommend sunscreen. There were no bugs around on the day we were there.
We saw breathtakingly beautiful landscape while we were there, rolling hills, fields and mountains in the distance, the fragrant scent of flowers and fruit trees added to the lush environment.
Our guide Alicia made the tour very interesting discussing coffee and pineapples, fruit and nut trees, Jamaican home remedies, and the history of the plantation along with some Jamaican history. There were 3 tasting stations set up with lots of treats for everyone to try. The plantation also has many beautiful flowers growing I have only seen in pictures.
Lunch was delicious and included; barbeque chicken, jerk sauce, plantain, cucumbers lightly pickled, callalou, and red beans and rice. along with blue mountain coffee. Soft drinks and beer are for sale. I did not see any leftovers after lunch was finished!!
We had a special treat that day and the owner and his (handsome) son came out and met with us and responded to questions and had lunch with us. The owner actually gave a few of us a private tour around and I felt very honored to be with him.
We had an amazing day which I am sure to keep in my memory for many years to come.
