“Great music, great service, great vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

I have to admit that this is my first post to TA. I felt obligated to write a review given the positive experience we had. My wife and I have traveled to some great resorts and hotels over the past few years - Cap Juluca, Anse Chastenet, Le Guanahani, etc. - and we had more fun and a better time here than these other properties. Granted, these other properties may have better beaches, food, and solitude, but if you are looking for a fun resort with great service, fantastic music and entertainment, a great pool, good food and a decent beach, this is it. This is also a perfect spot for a short trip, as it is a short drive from the Montego Bay airport, which is itself a direct flight from many cities.

This was our first experience with an all-inclusive plan, which we were a bit apprehensive about after reading the reviews. Our experience was that breakfast was fantastic, the coffee bar was also great, lunch was great only if you ate from the Chicken Cart, and dinner was average at the restaurants we sampled - Asian was good, French was bland, Mexican was not good at all. A Chicken Cart also made appearances at night, and that was also great - many thanks to Shevard - Mr. Williams!

Drinks were mostly great - a few bartenders stood out as exceptional, like Dermon at the pool bar. The only complaint we had was that when the beach got crowded in the afternoon, wait times for drinks could be 20-30 minutes, which made us on occasion go to the bar ourselves. But the staff did work really hard - when waits were the longest, you could see the poor servers struggling to balance a dozen or more specialty cocktails on their tray as they walked across the sand. Maybe a few more servers during peak hours would solve that problem.

The highlight for the resort for us was the AMAZING entertainment every night. We saw reggae bands, a marching band, and great DJs over the three nights. And during the day, the soundtrack they play near the pool (and can be heard on the beach) is just terrific - unless you don't like reggae (then you shouldn't come here.) The band PACE was the highlight, and if they are playing when you go to Jamaica I would definitely seek them out. Some bands come across as glorified wedding cover bands - but not this band. They were as good or better than some of the originals they played. (Yes, I am a musician and huge music buff, so this great music all-day long heavily influenced my positive view of the resort.) And if you are into the traditional non-reggae tunes you'd normally hear on vacation, then the resort has a beautiful indoor/outdoor piano bar with live sing-alongs of your favorite Billy Joel, Elton John, and other "standards".

Transportation was a little steep - $30 each way to the Hip Strip and Doctor's Cave Beach seemed like a lot, but the service provided by Jenko and Donna were fantastic. Just really nice people - they really cared about how your trip was going, if you needed any assistance, etc. to the point that Donna even called to make sure we were doing OK after our drop-off.

Finally, the resort itself is beautiful. Landscaping (especially all the Christmas decorations they had up) was first-rate, the beach and pool are spotless, and the rooms and common areas are as nice as any 5-star resort. (Better than some of the resorts I mentioned up at the top.) And the activities (yoga, snorkeling, etc.), games (shuffleboard, darts, volleyball, pool, ping-pong, etc.) were great in their quantity and quality of up-keep.

Yes, I loved this place, and only wish we could take our young kids back. But part of the reason it's so great is because there are no children . . .

Room Tip: Ocean view probably means you don't really have a good view, so if you need it, ask for ocean fr...

We had an amazing time at Secrets. The pros- It is a beautiful resort. The staff is extremely friendly. The hotel and resort is very clean, well run, detail oriented, beautiful flowers, decor, clean pool and beach area, etc..I was very happy with our room. I loved sitting on our balcony, looking at the ocean, enjoying room service or a cocktail...The whirlpool tub in the bathroom is really nice, too! Overall, an excellent stay in Jamaica. The cons- The food. It wasn't great. Also, please pack a pair of pants and dressier shoes, men. They won't let you into most of the restaurants without it. The spa...Not worth it at all. The pedicure chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. The relaxation room. Not relaxing at all. And its hot in there. I was not impressed. And finally, the bus ride from the airport to the hotel was horrible. We sat on the bus, and were made to wait for other people in the "tour" to get through customs. After the busy travel day, we had to sit at the airport and wait for quite some time.. I was so disappointed with that. Please take advantage of Mobay, fast track through immigration and customs on your way home. You go right through the line, and stay in a "presidents club" style room with drinks, wifi, hors doevres, etc... only 60$!!! I highly recommend this!!!! Ask the hotel about it . They will sign you up...Best 60 dollars I ever spent!!!!

Room Tip: Ocean view is amazing...

My husband chose this resort b/c of it's quick 20 min drive from the airport. We only had 5 days so we wanted to make the most of our days laying on the beach w/a rum drink in hand. Happy to say we accomplished that. This is a beautiful resort with the most welcoming, friendly and courteous staff you'll find anywhere! They really made our stay so enjoyable & the "yeah mon" happiness was contagious while here. We stayed at the Wild Orchid b/c of it's close proximity to the delicious restaurants & nightlife. I'll break down the stay by category so it's easy to skim. All said & done, we'd stay again for sure. The resort feels top notch, the food is excellent, staff amazing, pretty, but small beach & you can't beat how close it is to the airport. If we'd had more time we would have preferred staying in Negril to enjoy the famous 7 mile beach for walking etc.
CHECK IN
The staff welcomed us home, as they say the minute we stepped out of our taxi, with a mimosa delivered along with a wet towel. Nice touch. Friendly staff. They couldn't find our reservation though which we'd booked through Expedia, so they had us look it up on our email using their computer-WIFI is slow there. We found it & by the time we did we'd had our 2nd Mimosa. We were then escorted to another desk so they could go over the resort w/us. Actually turns out it's a sales pitch trying to get you to attend info on their "vacation club etc." After traveling from NY we weren't interested at all in this, we simply wanted our key so we could get our suits on & hit the beach. Thus, we found this a little annoying, but the staff is so nice so we listened, but never went to the presentation. FINALLY we got to our room like 20 min. later!

ROOM
Excellent king bed. We had a jr. suite ocean view. The balcony overlooked the pool & beach area so we had a great view. The balcony has a accordion clothes hanger attached to the wall to hang wet suits, which was convenient. TV had many channels-even porn! Bathroom was decked out w/granite, rainshower, jetted tub, double sink. Very nice. There's a stocked mini bar-free, couch, safe IPhone docking station, etc. Very nice room. We heard from many couples staying there that out of all the other resorts in Jamaica including Sandals, these rooms were the nicest, & the food the best. good to know.

POOL
Pool had rafts to lounge on. Get your stuff on a seat early if you want a lounge chair. By 9am! Many are taken by 9:30. The pool water is freezing, so we never went in. There's a bar w/swim up seats. Entertainment staff does dance lessons, silly games etc by the pool.

BEACH
This is where we were the whole trip. We didn't do excursions. Wanted to chill & relax so we did. Plenty of lounge chairs & good amount of Palapas for shade. Again, if you want a specific chair/especially one under a palapa, wake up & get down there w/towels, magazines something to save yourself your spot by 9am. These really do get taken quickly. There's a "library" near the Coco Cafe (coffee bar) & ping pong tables where ppl leave used books/magazines etc. We would frequent this for stuff to read & also it came in handy to grab a mag to put on our chair in the early am before going to breakfast at World Cafe.
The sand is soft, beach water cool at first touch, but warm when you just jump in. We chose chairs near the volleyball area b/c my husband played daily, plus it's close to the bar to get a drink b/c the staff on the beach is few & slow. If you're counting on getting your drinks served to you on the beach or at the pool be prepared to wait a good amount of time-sometimes 1 hour! Mostly we'd get them ourselves.

SNORKELING
The beach is a bit rocky in the water, but not too bad. SNORKELING near the St. James beach which you can frequent was excellent. You have to go w/the FREE GUIDED SNORKELING, which you sign up for 15 min. before, unless you have your own equipment. they go out at 9, 10, 2p. They provide the gear & lifejackets if you want. They take you far out swimming from the beach way out into the ocean over great reefs, so I chose the lifejacket. We saw a Lionfish, Starfish, Sand dollars, & many colorful, vibrant fish, eels, barracuda, flounder, grouper. Great! Really enjoyed this.

WATERSPORTS
You can rent HOBIE CATS for $20 for 30 min. lesson. There are free Glass Bottom Boat tours, FREE kayaks to use as well. All watersports are located at the St. James Resort beach, which is just a minute walk from Wild Orchid's & open to all guests. If you want to snorkel a lot, use the watercrafts etc. I'd recommend getting a chair at that beach & maybe staying there too.

DINING
Excellent food awaits you at most restaurants! WORLD CAFE is a bountiful buffet for breakfast & lunch with many good choices. Our fav restaurant was the Jamaican one called BLUE MOUNTAIN. The FRENCH restaurant was average. HIMITSU's is the Asian restaurant. If you want to eat at the Hibachi tables you'll need a reservation, otherwise not for the other tables. Reservations are req'd at the restaurants. People do dress up for dinner at the resort. Men be sure to bring dress shoes, as flip flops aren't allowed, & pants. WORLD CAFE & the restaurants near the pool are the only casual restaurants where you can dress down in flip flops/shorts etc.

COFFEE
I already miss our morning MOCHA that GARFIELD made us every morning at the COCO CAFE! So delicious. You can get coffee bevs w/alcohol too, along w/mini sandwiches/desserts from 7am-11pm.

NIGHTLIFE
Our 1st night there we enjoyed the SOCA PARADE, with many artisan/vendors, band, etc. It was really festive. I didn't realize that the vendors are only there that one night though, so I missed out on getting souvenirs from them. Luckily near the St. James Pool there's a wooden craft artisan vendor there everyday so i was able to grab a few things.
There's a piano bar, live music every night around 9:30 & earlier sometimes, along w/Desires Nightclub. All of this is located near the restaurants on the Wild Orchid side. Chairs fill up fast close to show opening.

JERK CHICKEN
Best part of the day was the JERK CHICKEN man by the beach/pool around 11am-1p. Great chicken. Get it with sauce! Delicious! They do a cooking class too to learn how to make it & get the recipe. HIghly recommend that!

EXERCISE
M-F there's 8:30a & 5:30p YOGA near the gazebo overlooking the beach. We didn't get to the fitness center or massages.

ROMANTIC DINNERS
You can pay an extra $60 for the romantic dinner for 2 on the beach. We didn't do this.

DRINKS
Drinks are great. Bob Marley, Cool Runnings, Blue Crush. Have Nikolav make u the MELLOW MOOD! An extra shot of rum is necessary sometimes as they are on the weak side.
House wines served free with dinner are just ok. The white pinot grigio from Spain that they serve is gross! It's worth buying a bottle if you like wine. There's a limited wine list though, so that was a bit disappointing.

TIPS
Not req'd, but we did when we felt like it. Our waitress at Blue Mountain got us some JERK CHICKEN from the JERK CHICKEN CART OUTSIDE the restaurant while we waited for our food. Little extra service like that we rewarded. Never felt like it was expected though.

FUN STUFF
Check out the many starfish behind the stage by the piano bar. We saw a lot along the shore every morning. Peacocks roaming the grounds add to the ambience.

ATM
The ATM was broken until the morning we checked out. We wanted cash for souvenirs, tips etc. just to have, so we went to the lobby & asked to do a cash advance on our credit card for 10% of our total. So make sure you have plenty of cash on hand so you don't run into this problem like we did. Poor planning on our part.

CHECK OUT
You can't just leave your hotel like in the U.S. They expect you to come down to the lobby & settle everything in person, which we found annoying b/c again, it takes 10-15 min. There's a exit survey they want you to fill out & the credit card machine can take a while. Plus, there are only 2 desks usually open & on a busy am departure you'll have to wait in line, again we found this inconvenient as we had 5 min. to get on our transfer. If you've paid for a transfer to the airport be sure to save the receipt as you'll need to show it to the driver & also you'll need to show your check out ticket from the front desk to the driver as well. The only inconvenience we felt was the CHECK IN & OUT PROCESS. Needs to be improved & quickened.

Room Tip: Email the concierge a week before your arrival to request a ground level facing the beach for easy a...

Dear Valued Guest:

We are happy that you visited our resort and had a great experience overall. As a team we do make every effort to ensure that all guests are comfortable, satisfied and sometimes don’t want to leave. It is therefore great to know that we were able to meet your expectations. We do regret the inconvenience you experienced as a result of the out of order atm machine and can assure you that this is not something that happens often.

As is our usual procedure, guests are required to do a personal check-out before leaving the resort. This is to ensure that your bill is settled and to complete our short survey. This is very important to us and does help us to see the resort from guests’ perspective so that we are better able to make the necessary enhancements, training and re-visit our processes in a bid to achieve greater guest satisfaction.

We do appreciate your review and having taken the time to share the details of your stay with us all. It is our hope that we will have the opportunity to e of service to you for future visits.

Warm Regards,

We stayed during the week of Christmas. From check-in to check-out, everything was absolutely perfect. Check-in is NOT like a normal hotel, this is more personal, they give you a cool towel, whatever kind of drink you would like, all before you get to a desk. You are taken up to your room by a bellhop who handles all your luggage. He explains every feature in the room, which was very nice. We stayed in an oceanview jr. suite and could not imagine needing anything more than what our room offered. The bed was absolutely comfortable, views from balcony amazing, bathroom area really cool...a nice, clean, modern room. The entire resort is kept extremely clean. We ate at all the restaurants and each one had great food. Keep in mind, this is not your typical all inclusive, meaning these are real restaurants, NOT all buffets. I cannot stress how wonderful all the staff is. Everyone greets you as they pass you by and everyone has a smile on their face. Make sure you check out the food carts that stop along the beach (chicken man, coconut man, fruit man and snow cone man). This was the best vacation ever, could not have asked for better!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views. We stayed in the Ocean View Jr Suite and could not imagine wanting...

We arrived completely jetlagged, check in was efficient. We were offered a booking for a "tour" which I knew was a time sharing pitch, booked for next day but ended up still too jetlagged to attend, no one bothered us further.

Booked a simple "garden room", was prepared to upgrade to a preferred guest room in case the regular rooms were noisy or had other problems, but it was not necessary. We were given a ocean front room, I was a bit concerned at first, since it was in the corner of the building, very close to the pool, but we were never troubled by it.

Room: it is exactly as the pics show, with the known "problems" some other guests mention, mainly the lack of privicy in the bathroom, but it was not a problem for us, we thought it was beautifull, always with an abundance of towels, always clean. Small problems during stay ( leaking ) but didn't bother us enough for us to complain. We bought the package for internet in the room, but it never worked properly in the room, best location was in the cafe, we called the technical service, he explained that they are increasing some accessing points so the coverage will improve. No need to mention that for the price of this hotel, I think internet should have been included. My only grip with the room, and a serious one, was the bed. I have never experienced a more soft bed in my life, to the point that you cannot lie straight and end up having back pain throughout your vacation. I enternained the idea of sleeping on the sleeping couch, because the bed was really uncomfortable.

Restaurants: although people complained a lot, we liked all the restaurants we visited, and we visited them all ( stayed 2 weeks ). If men did not want to use pants, they had to sit outside, which is a nice touch considering that other resorts do not allow this, but the bugs and the heat made dinner not so comfortable. My major criticism is reagarding the pool grill restaurant, which most people use for lunch. The food was quite nice, everything we tried was good quality, the problem was the presentation! Com'on Secrets, a couple of nice design plates, some wooden planks, is that too much to ask? The food was served like some school cantine grub! Sorry for the sincerity.

Bars: we loved them all! We are not heavy drinkers, preferring cocktails always, but they were all nicely made, good quality alcohol ( no hangover next day ) and were plentyful. Even in the beach ( we stayed in the Wild Orchid part of the beach, close to the gazebo ), every 15 minutes we had someone asking if we wanted more drinks.

Beach/pool: yes, the beach is man-made, but it is a dream beach. We did the snorkeling tour with the hotel, starting from the St. James side and it was really nice. I would advise however people to bring their own equipment or buy it there and do the snorkeling at their own pace. While we were there, the Wild Orchid side was calm and the party seemed to be at the St. James, which was perfect for us. We loved the floating matressed in the pools. The lack of cushions in the beach loungers bothered some people ( we watched a horrible argument from a couple that was not allowed to use the pool loungers cushions on the beach chairs, they ended up getting some kind of pass to use the preferred guest side of the beach, where the loungers had cushions ), did not bother us, 2 fluffly towels and we were ok.

I went to the preferred side of the Wild Orchid, also entered their lounge, even tried some of the food, as we love preferred clubs and I wanted to know if it was worth for a next trip, and being honest, it is not worth it. The pool is tiny, the beach is as nice as the other stretches of beach in the hotel, yes - the loungers have cushions, but so what?, and it was so so so soooo quiet, even a bit somber - and my husband and I always travel in search of quiet spots, but that was too much even for us.

So, all in all we had a very good time here. It was not five dots for 3 reasons: beds too soft, presentation of food during lunch, and internet not free.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have sea view, I would not pay more for it.

Dear Valued Guest:

Your review is certainly very thorough in highlighting so many different areas of our resort that were both enjoyable and less satisfactory to you. We appreciate this very much as is very valuable to our operation and service execution.

While we are very happy that your stay was enjoyable, we do regret the things that were not to your satisfaction. Please be advised that our management team has read your review and will, as with other past reviews, implement the relevant changes to meet and exceed guests’ expectations. As mosquitoes are a natural part of the tropical environment, we are faced with continuous challenge to reduce their numbers. Much effort is made to prevent mosquitoes from being a nuisance to guests and we will continue to do our daily fogging in hopes of eliminating them from guest areas completely.

We do regret that all your concerns were not brought to our attention while at the resort so that we could have resolved them before your departure. It is our hope that as we continue to make improvements to our overall operation, that we will have the opportunity to host you and fully extend the excellent services we are known for.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and hope to see you again.

I used Trip Advisor to plan this last vacation and found reviews very helpful when deciding where to go so I’m returning the favor. Mid-30s couple going on 10 year anniversary for fun. If you travel often and are looking for a certain level of service and amenities, this is the review for you.

Secrets Wild Orchid does many of the big things right, but gets several of the little things wrong. The property is phenomenal. The beaches and pools are beautiful. The restaurants and bars are great. The theater is loaded with big, comfy chairs. They are constantly cleaning and it shows. It feels like paradise. Anytime of day you can get a great beach chair or bed. Plenty of towels. This is a HUGE plus. But the drink service by the beach is slow and inconsistent. And the cooler full of water is always empty by mid-day as 2-3 towel folders stand around playing games on their mobile phones. The property advertises a top-shelf, unlimited bar. Not true. Not even close. Cheap wine is free, the good stuff costs extra. They’re upfront about that. But regarding liquor/mixed drinks they only serve the good stuff at a few bars (piano, nightclub and Preferred) and they limit it to one bottle per day per bar. You can guess which ones are limited – the ones that everyone wants. If your wife likes Stoli Strawberry, better get it early because by 9pm it’s all gone. If you like Crown or Jack or Grey Goose or decent Scotch – you’ll only be drinking it until the one bottle they have for that night’s allowance is gone – by 9pm you’re drinking the cheapest booze they can pour in a glass. Several employees blamed a guy named Dwight. One employee asked me if I understand the words “cost control” which made me laugh. Fact is, they severely limit the quality alcohol and if that’s important to you on vacation, do not stay here.

Room service for breakfast was good and seemed to be the best move. Daytime food is below average. Other than the Jerk chicken cart, which is great. The lunch buffet servers are terrible. Two meals we didn’t get our iced tea until the meal was over. That’s a small thing that shouldn’t take 30 minutes. But the nighttime food is above average. Nice atmospheres, great service, tasty food. We liked the Italian place and the Japanese grill the best. The surf and turf night had lobster, which was a hit. So they nail dinner, but miss big time on lunch. The inconsistency doesn’t make sense? It’s like two different resorts.

Internet is a disaster, but doesn’t need to be. They’ve outsourced it to another company. If you’re in the Preferred Club it’s free (but not without mental expense). You get one username and password (that they keep on these tiny scratcher cards under lock and key), but it only works on 1 device. So good luck going from your iPhone to iPad to laptop. Never going to happen. Guaranteed to make you crazy. The explanations from the employees ranged from uneducated to confused why anyone would need the internet on multiple devices. Signal strength can go from full to non-existent in seconds. Hopefully you’re able to leave your devices at home, but if you have kids, or a job to check in on, or like to know what’s going on in the world, and want to stay connected via internet do not stay here until they upgrade. If they upgrade.

Many employees are exceptional. A few are not. The woman who cleaned our room most of the trip (Natalie Cunningham) was as good as it gets. The room could not have been cleaner and she was super friendly. The days she was off, the room was cleaned by a woman I found watching the Ricki Lake Show both days. I didn’t leave the TV on; she must have navigated a remote that never seemed to work for me, found her favorite daytime TV show and did her worst impression of a cleaning person. The guys behind the bar in the night club (Wilton and Dane) were friendly, quick and professional. Quick is harder to find than it should be. Most people working there are friendly, but they are not quick. The women and concierges working in the Wild Orchid Preferred Club range from top notch to useless, it’s a lottery. Dial zero for the operator or room service and they might pick up in 3 seconds, or never. Inconsistent again.

The entertainment at night is decent. They play a couples/newlywed-style game that was hilarious. The loud music in common areas can be annoying if you’re trying to take an evening siesta before heading out. Average cover tunes are blasted from anywhere between 8-11pm.

We stayed in the Wild Orchid Preferred Club and I strongly recommend it for couples seeking a relaxing vacation. The room was large and bed was very comfortable. If you’re looking for more of a Spring Break, party vibe – for example if you are going with a big group of friends, then you could stick with non-Preferred and be happy.

I tipped when the level of service was deserving, but didn’t feel obligated to. When we checked in they gave us a speech on how we could be saving so much money if we joined their resort club and asked us to attend a seminar. I just ignored them and didn’t hear a word about it the rest of the trip.

In summary, I would still recommend this resort to guests who want a relaxing vacation at a beautiful property. But not for guests that are particular about liquor quality, internet, or inconsistent service.

Room Tip: Higher floors, if you want quiet, stay in Preferred Club

This is a great resort. My husband and I stayed on our Christmas break. We've been to a few all-inclusive resorts and consider this one to be top quality and worth the money, even at peak season. So here are some things we enjoyed...
The Wild Orchid resort is next to and open to the St. James resort which is also Secrets, so it's all one big property to enjoy. The beach extends and entire peninsula and has several coves so there's always a place to find a chair and umbrella on the beach. You get bar service on the beach or at the pools so you never have to leave your spot if you don't want to. There are 2 large pools each with their own towel hut and restaurant, plus a grill inbetween the two. There are also preferred pools and areas for the private club guests through AM Resorts but since we did not use those I will that for someone else to comment. The rooms were very nice and modern. It included a jacuzzi tub and just to warn, if you lean back on those jets too long you'll end up with red circles on your back but they will fade within the hour. Keep the jets on low to avoid splashing water over the entire bathroom off your back.
The food is high quality and high variety. The restaurants on the property include jamaican, italian, french, japanese, seafood, mexican, grille, and a large buffet world cafe with a rotating menu. They also have several bars all over the property so you're never without a drink and the bartenders are inventive. There is a great variety of liquor, not as much on house wine but you can always order something extra at the restaurants. Probably the best surprise was the gourmet coffee bar where I got all my lattes and cappuccinos with rum cream. They had specialties in hot and ice coffees with liqueurs and had lots of sweets and snacks similar to what you might find at a Starbucks or Caribou Coffee. Plus, a soft serve ice cream machine you could use all day.
There's enough games and entertainment to keep active, similar to a cruise ship itinerary to enjoy. At night there are live performances including outdoor singing and dancing, and the piano bar has an amazing performer. The game room has billiards and table tennis. They have a basketball court and tennis court plus an indoor fitness center with TVs, cardio machines, weights, and snacks and drinks to keep you hydrated. They have a casino on the property plus little things around the pools like a giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, and darts. Most of the game contests let the winner take home a bottle of the jamaican Appleton Special rum. So if you like blackjack, look forward to taking a bottle of rum home with you. Since the property is only 2 years old, everything still feels new and seems well maintained. To compare, we stayed at another luxury all inclusive the same week and the table tennis paddles were stripping away and falling apart, whereas the Secrets game room had new paddles with comfort grips. The little details added to the enjoyment.
I also used the Spa. My appointment was for reflexology, which was enjoyable, however what is really worth mentioning is the hydrofacility that you get all day access to when you book any appointment. I hear this facility is at many Secrets resorts. You go through steam, sauna, tropical rain, ice rain, jacuzzi, and then another 10-20 water stations that massage you in different ways, or put you through the hot and cold changes that envigorate. I used it twice because it was really great and maybe even better than the reflexology.
I must also mention that the staff are very pleasant and always seem happy to make your day. Even on Christmas we found them smiling. We heard how the company does trips together and got the impression that people working there are really career-oriented. This was a positive contrast to other resorts where you could tell people were just clocking in and not as personable. I can tell you that Anecia, the Concierge, is a great resource for all your arrangements, and Andrew at the Lobby Bar will help you with many Jamaican Mistakes, a favorite drink.
A few things to know before you go... I got reflexology at the spa because my feet and legs were getting sore from walking around on the hard surfaces everywhere. It's kind of like marble if you've ever spent too much time walking around a museum and felt your feet ache. So bring comfortable shoes if you plan to walk a lot. Also the beds are the kind you dive into and can't easily get out of. In other words, they sink a bit which can make it hard to get a full night's sleep. We also noticed the pillow cases were not big enough for the pillows oddly. There is a charge for internet and Wifi, but a multi-day pass is available. Otherwise you pay by the minute at the internet cafe. While room service was included, we did not try it. But also if you want a bottle of wine or liquor for your room then you had to pay for the bottle. Drinks are still unlimited included at all the bars. Just like a cruise ship, bring one nice evening outfit and nice shoes for the nice restaurants and dancing. The mosquitos are everywhere so bring your repellant and AfterBite. I could not find AfterBite anywhere on the island so really pack this because hydracortisone only stops the itch for a few hours and they bite big. They will offer you a presentation for a preferred program that they have. There are some similarities to timeshares and some differences, so feel free to listen and decide. We were interested in some aspects of the program but not all, so just ask about what is important to you. There are gift shops and tour desks on the property to shop and book excursions. The taxi people at the front can give you competitive pricing on private transportation sometimes. We only did a bike tour and the exercise was good but we didn't see anything off the property worth going out for. A trip further in town may be more interesting but we didn't get there. If you book a transfer from the airport ahead of time through Jamaica Tours you can get it for $10 per person each way and you'll get to the resort in under 20 minutes. You'll see airplanes from the beach at a distance but you don't hear them over the ocean so it feels more scenic anyway.
Overall, we plan on visiting other Secrets resorts and highly recommend this one.

Room Tip: We did an oceanview room which was a nice view every morning. It's not a small slice of view lik...
