“Better than the Venise gondola...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

My husband and I truly enjoyed this relaxing and romantic bamboo raft ride down the lazy river where we saw great vegetation throughout. Having been on a venise gondola ride a few years ago, I must admit that the river raft provided greater value for our money and was even more romantic. Loved it. You do need to be prepared for some selling pitch by the boat captain on providing a good tip. Despite this, the boat captain had fascinating stories to share with us and was highly knowledgeable about the vegetation and wildlife surrounding us so well worth the investment in my opinion.

“I Would Not Do It Again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

First you are taken for a free glass of punch while you look out to an abandon pool, scraggly herb garden while avoiding the souvenir venders as they tell you there are no souvenirs at the tour end (there are by the way). Next you board your raft, polite staff. Then for under an hour your raft is guided gently down the river..... along side the service road enduring horns (every vehicle), dust, and yelling of the guide to his coworkers.

WORST: There were a lot of vacant vendor stands setup with lots of crafts. These are staffed on days the cruise ships come to town which is Tuesday - Friday. Had we taken the trip any of those days we would have been swarmed. We had a toy boat thrown to us. If you pick it up they expect you to buy it. If you don't, they run out to pick it up. Then the guides try to sell you carvings they made out of hollowed out gourds. We did not purchase one and after that the ride become very uncomfortable. The guide did not talk to us for the rest of the trip.

The raft also goes over a civil water intake area .... not a good place to swim.

This was provided to us as part of a vendor trip so it was free to us. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor prior to the trip so I knew what I was in for, but I would not do it again.

“Very peaceful, very pretty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

This is a bit of Venice Italy in Jamaica - don't expect white water - and when you get there they advise you against swimming in the water - but it's a pretty Jamaica jungle gondola ride but the gondola is a large raft with a comfortable seat for two. Your guide built the raft and he poles it downstream. Some guides are very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Jamaica and can point out almond trees and banana trees as you float along.
If you really want to see some of Jamaica's natural beauty, the raft ride will show you that but if you're looking for white water river rafting this isn't that.

Skinner was our guide, he showed us so much about the river and everything Jamaican, he was so fun to talk to. Peaceful ride down the river.

“Pleasant and interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Great way to get off the resort, see a little of the natural fauna and flora. It takes over an hour to do the trip, so you can really get a feel for the river. Raft captains are friendly and will answer any question.
