My husband and I stayed at The Inn for our first trip to Jamaica. The staff are so great there! They were helpful, got us reservations at the other resorts for dinners and upgraded us partway through our stay. After our upgrade we got breakfast on our patio overlooking the ocean every morning! The beach is public so we went to the other resorts for the personal service. Drinks were delivered to us on the beach, the food was great and the water sports were fun. We went snorkeling and did the hobbie cats. Very good value for all that you get with the stay at 1 and play at 3! We will be going back!

I just returned from Sandals Carlyle from a week that ended 1/19/13. My fiancé and I joined my sister and brother-in-law for our annual "Jamaica in January" sun seeking adventure. We truly enjoyed the stay at the Carlyle.

We had a late opportunity to upgrade to butler service and took advantage of that opportunity. Denesha and Denae took wonderful care of and literally catered to all our needs. I must tell you, butler or not, this place is intimate and first class a place where service matters. It begins as soon as you walk in the door. By the time you leave the entire staff, including the general manager, know your name and what you like.

I am a huge sandals fan and enjoy having access to all three of the Montego Bay resorts. Each has a very different personality and I enjoy all.

We chose the Carlyle for the value and because we knew the larger Montego Bay Sandals were available minutes away via shuttle bus day and night. The major plus for the Carlyle are the staff: super friendly and accommodating (thanks especially Denice, Tracy and Jerome for making our stay awesome!!); our room was very nice (though bathrooms a bit small) as we were upgraded to the second floor with a balcony and pool/ocean view; we enjoyed a great couples massage and had good food at all three restaurants (delicious lobster at the Carlyle).
The not-so-plus side includes: the beach for the Carlyle is across the street where the locals tend to hang out and offer their services/merchandise (and this is deceptively photographed on the Sandals website), so we did not ever use that beach; the shuttle buses that take you to MoBay and Royal "closed" for lunch/dinner hour times so it took some planning to make sure you got on the bus in time to get over to the other resorts for beach time or meals; and the most disappointing issue was that despite the promised access to the other resorts restaurants, in reality, getting reservations at the Toyko Joe's and the Royal Thai proved difficult.(and in the case of our group of four, they gave one couple reservations for 6:00 and one for 8:00, so we all showed up at 8:00 and they said "no problem mon" as is the common response in Jamaica, and gave us a table set for four at the Thai which never did fill up while we were there!!) We were told that Carlyle guests are allowed limited people/times to get into those other restaurants (especially if you did not pay for the 3rd floor butler service), so definitely not the same access as if we had stayed at MoBay or Royal. The Reggae Cruise and the Dunebuggy excursion were a blast!!!
Suggestions: Run shuttles without breaks for lunch/dinner; Expand dinner hour times at restaurants to accommodate more people (some were open only 6:00 to 8:00 or 6:00 to 9:00).
Overall: We had a great trip, beautiful weather and will definitely do another Sandals vacation in the future!!

Our stay at the Carlyle was great! This location is nice and quiet, perfect for relaxing. The shuttles take you to the other resorts every hour where there are plenty of activities to take part in. You can be as involved as you want. The butlers were AMAZING, especially Jevan. He worked so hard to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. He even called on his day off after having made reservations for us! He even helped me arrange a special birthday surprise for my husband. Each day we would come back to our room with towels folded into cute animals and flowers on the bed. Everyone was so friendly at each of the resorts. My only complaint would have to be the Bay Window Restaurant. The service was awful; it seemed as though the waiters forgot about us. For example, we went down for breakfast one morning and it took 45 minutes just to get hashbrowns. The food was not great and often came out cold. They never even refilled our water. But everything else at this resort was great! I would definitely recommend staying at the Carlyle when staying in Montego Bay. It's the cheapest of the three resorts and you can still play at the other two. All the benefits of all the resorts but for the lowest cost.
