“The Fantastic Sandals Royal Caribbean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2005

Having just returned from our holiday to Sandals Royal Caribbean we would like to share our experiance with everyone. From the moment we arrived at the resort we were made to feel very welcome by all staff and management. Mr Randall Wilkie Genral Manager of the resort made himself known to us from the start of our holiday and looked after our needs as required. The hotel staff reflected the management to a high standard and having visted the hotel before I believe that the standard has increased tremendously. Our room was way beyond our exepectations we had a 2 room apartment which over looked the beach and sea, with a butler service which was impecable. The room had recenlty been decorated to a high standard and made it feel like new. We would highly recommed this Sandals resort with the management that is in place. Mr Wilkie is a credit to Sandals.

We stayed at Sandals Royal Caribbean from November 2nd through November 8th, 2005, and got married while we were there. The weather was beautiful during this time in November, it rained a little but not for a whole day.
The resort is beautiful and the wedding preparation was completely taken care of. All we had to do was meet with the wedding coordinator and the minister before the wedding and then we just had to show up! So stress free which is exactly what we wanted.
We stayed in a beachfront deluxe room which was nice, kinda small..I was expecting a little more out of the room but I won't complain. I would suggest that if you have the money to upgrade your room category.
We spent most of our time on the off-shore island which we loved! It was much more private than the "regular" beach.
We also went on a Jeep Safari tour which was great to get to experience the island. They took us to beautiful waterfalls and snapped pictures for us.
The staff was unbelievably nice and friendly. Not one of the staff members walked by us without asking how we were and if we needed anything.
One thing I must insist on you bringing with you though is bug spray! I had bites all up and down my legs, from what I'm not exactly sure but they itched for weeks!
Overall we had a wonderful vacation and plan on going back, we feel like we would have more fun if we had some friends along, so we'll try that. I hope my review has been helpful. If you would like to contact me, my email is lisakf@comcast.net
I'll post some pictures also.

My wife and I traveled to Jamaica for our 5th wedding anniversary. We were referred to Sandals Royal by our good friends, Mike and June LaCava. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by outstanding hospitality and greeted personally by Randall Wilkie. We must say he is a gentleman of gentlemen. The constant pampering made us feel like royalty and we were always greeted with a smile by the entire staff. The food was excellent, the entertainment was awesome, and the non-stop activities made it an experience we will never forget. We want to extend a special Thank You to Mr. Wilkie for such great accommodations, exceptional service, and maintenance of such an intoxicating paradise. We cannot wait to return and see all the wonderful friends we made while there. The Sandals Royal staff sure does know how to make you feel like you're in heaven.

After having our 20th trip in November to the Royal, we must comment on the EXCELLANT experiences we have had over the years, the staff headed by Randy Wilke is exceptional, we have been going to the resort through many management changes and have noticed the most improved atmosphere and friendliness by all staff since Randy is there, he has performed miracles. The accomodations are top of the line and the improvements made are fantastic. We travel several times each year to varias countries but to relax and be "pampered" we go to the Royal at least two times a year, this year we were there three times.
As always the moment we arrive we do not have a "care in the world" all the food is great and the feeling of being with friends and family instantly appears..When people ask us our favorite vacation we always say Sandals, Royal. My husband has sent his sister and her husband for their 40th wedding gift and they thought they "died and went to heaven." Our Senior VP at my husband's corporation honeymooned at the Royal and were extremely pleased. I always wear my sandal and crowns on a chain and I am sure introduced hundreds of couples to the Royal and will continue to do so..

My new husband and I went to Sandals in May for our wedding and honeymoon. It was not exactly the way the advertisments described the place, but it was wonderful. Our wedding was May 17th. The day before the wedding we met with the wedding coordinator and went over details. They tried to charge us for things like the decor and our privite candlelite dinner that were supossed to be part of the $3500 we already spent on our 6 night stay in a Grand Lux Beachfront Concigere room in the Kensington Block. The wedding package sounds so great over the phone and looking at pictures but when you get there they did not want to stick to what the wedding package was supossed to be. After an hour or so we had it all worked out though. If you are planning a wedding there you just need to be firm. Bring with you all the info you have gathered from advertisements and so on. From that point on my wedding was absoultly beautiul. The girls did a wonderful job decoarating. They really pulled it together to make our wedding truly incredible. We had 10 for our wedding and everyone had a great time. We got married in the morning so we could celebrate at the resort with our loved ones for the rest of the day. They all got to stay until 6:00pm although no little ones aloud at Sandals. It was perfect for all us adults though. They provided champagne, appitizers, cake, and then the rest of the day we spent drinking, exploring the private island, hanging with some locals, it was fantastic.
There is some hiden prices that even though we thought we had researched almost everything before we left were still not aware of once we got there, so make sure you have a little extra cash.
Our room was beautiful, although smaller than expected. The room next to us in the corner of the building(same class) was much larger. Our room was fully stocked with all we needed. The balcony we loved. We spent lots of or nights relaxing and making our own drinks from our in room bar and ordering room service when we got the munchies. The staff was polite and fun. We made friends with some locals. They truly add so much to your vacation.
The water is so warm, not real clear for snorkling right at the beach, but if you take a snorkle trip out just past the private island you will see much more. A few tips. If you plan to see more of the island call your own taxi. We met one gentleman in Montego bay while doing some shopping who became our tour guide our whole stay. He took us to ocho rios one day and negril the other. I think we paid around 80 dollars plus tip for each day. His name is Nigile and he did whatever we wanted. He would drop us where we wanted and be waiting for us when we were done. If you get hounded by some locals about trying to sell you stuff just be polite and you have to be firm if you are not interested and they will leave you alone. Remember you are not in the US and things are done different then we are used to. Standards are not the same. If you go and want to have the best time, just relax mon, and go with the flow of the reggae. It will intoxicate you along with the great drinks. Dont let the little stuff bug you and you will have a terrific time. We did and can not wait to return.

Just returned from our second Sandals experience, having spent 17 nights at the Royal Caribbean. It was a memorable vacation, one of those that makes you reluctant to go home!

From the moment we arrived we were made welcome at every turn. It wasn't just a smile for the tourists but a genuine desire to help in any way possible. Janice seated us on our first evening at the Courtyard Restaurant and greeted us by name for the rest of our stay. It is always interesting to see how difficult customers are treated (there are inevitably one or two!) and the Sandals staff were incredibly patient with one couple. They appeared to be the only ones as everybody else was having a great time.

Although some renovation work was going on during our visit, this in no way intruded and any inconvenience was minor. Our room was in the Kensington Building with its own attractive swimming pool and ocean view. Although we had paid for a basic (de luxe) room, the Sandals policy of upgrading returning guests meant that we had a Grande Luxe room (see photo) which was very well furnished and extremely comfortable - the air conditioning was the quietest that I have ever experienced.

Scuba diving is a great attraction in the Sandals all inclusive deal and I made 15 dives while I was at the hotel. The Dive Boat is a very powerful Newton 46 which can power you out to some good dive sites very quickly regardless of the wind and weather (well not quite but they seem to manage two dives a day most days!) Ask them to take you to Widowmakers Hole!

The food is of a very high standard and having three hotels all within the Montego Bay area is a definite bonus, although our favourite was the Thai restaurant, an enchanting boat ride on the Wayang Doll. Renville, one of the waiters there, took us under his wing and insisted on laying out the red carpet for our subsequent visits (photo) He provided flowers and a very pleasant bottle of chilled wine(house)was waiting on our table on each occasion.

The Jamaicans have a wonderful sense of humour and the "Partymakers" went out of their way to provide entertainment. They also seem very versatile and Garfield not only made a good model in the fashion show but also served us breakfast (and gave us a going home present of a bag of coffee he'd bought for us.

I was amazed at how many guests had visited the same resort so many times and I'm sure that this is largely due to the attitude of the staff. We'll certainly be back there soon.

After landing in Jamaica following a 9 hour flight it was great to be able to have a cool drink from Sandals Lounge at the airport, and wait for our transfer. From the moment the bus turns into that long drive we know we have come home. We were given a cold towel to freshen up and a glass of champagne as we were checking in. We were taken to our room which was lovely, fridge for cool drinks, tea & coffee maker, CD player, large TV and a balcony.
Breakfast is served buffet style in the Regency and has something for everyone, your plate is carried to your table and it is lovely to sit on the deck and look out on the calm waters of the sea. The Courtyard also serves breakfast this is made to order and waiter service. Or for those of you who dont want to leave your room, you can order room service.Lunch is buffet sytle from the Regency and this again has a very large choice. There are a large selection of restaurants to choose from in the evening and you can also eat at Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Inn.
The Royal Thai is our favourite at this resort and is located on the offshore island. The Regency serves a large selection of International dishes and something for everyone. The Courtyard is another favourite of ours and the Steaks are delicious! The Pavilion serves Jamaican cuisine and is also worth a visit.
Our room was located by the East pool and the Suite Concierge service was excellent, if you required anything all you had to do was call. The butler service has been introduced now and the butlers are great.
The facilities are excellent, the pools and decks are washed and cleaned before breakfast. The beach is not massive, however it is kept clean and tidy. Scuba Diving is excellent and the watersports team are great.
The bars are good with a large selection of alcoholic and soft drinks or they will mix you a lovely cocktail. There is always some entertainment going on both during the day and night. There is no pressure to take part and you can do as little or as much as you like.
Mr Wilkie and all of his staff are happy, hardworking people and it is great to see them all when we arrive.
All of the above makes this a great place to stay and thats why we will be returning next year for 3 weeks for the 11th time!.
