We were married May 27th at Sandals. The wedding was better than expected but the wedding planner Yentil kinda essed things up. She informed us wrong times for appointments and reservation. She wrote down the wrong time for everything on the reminder sheet and never booked the breakfast in bed which was dissapointing since we were starving by the time we realized we werent getting any food!


The room was awesome we had the grnad luxe with a pool view, waring these are NOT the same as the regular grand luxe. We saw them and two fo the buildings are under construction and the rooms are no better if not worse than a motel six room.

The resort was clean and I was impressed with all the workers, they were always cleaning!

The food was good not five star, our favorite was the royal thai and the pavillion (get the steak there) great! oh ya the pub has great fried food

The American alcohol beware most of it is not full strength it is export strength about half I thought that was wierd. I stuck with stuff that was bottled like wine. The water and anything tap like pop made my stomach hurt.

The island is not busy go there during the day. It doesnt look anything like the website haha a little dirty but it was fun.

The beaches were nice, not big but never overly populated We hung out on the two smaller beaches and were usually the only two there

Dont bother with the hip strip if you do go just get the free transfer to sandals in and walk down the street, you wont need a taxi. You willl get hassled. Warning do not shake anyones hand, it is a scam they will put drugs in your hand and then you are stuck with it and you have to pay for it our they will alert the police and you will go to jail. A guy tried to pull it on my husband but luckily we knew about it. Just tell them no and keep walking or act like you dont speak english haha

We just returned on Friday from our stay at SRC. Overall, it was a fantastic trip! We got married at the resort and enjoyed our honeymoon as well. Here are the specifics...
The trip to SRC was good - the airport at Montego Bay was a sinch and we didn't have to wait long (maybe 10 minutes!) for our bus to take us on the short trip to the resort...once there we lounged in the concierge loung (with cold champagne & snacks) until our room was ready. Our butler, Hughill (more on him later) came and took us to our room and showed us around the resort.
Our Room: I think we HAD to have the best view in the entire place! Overlooking the ocean and the entire beach area. Absolutely fantastic! The rest of our room was absolutely gorgeous EXCEPT the bathroom. There were these teeny bugs crawling around...nothing too horribly tramatic.. just enough to be annoying. Our air conditioner was a GOD SEND! Our room was nice and cool and the entire time and made for a wonderful place to come and take a break from the gorgeous sunshine! We had an issue with lack of hot water and water pressure our first night. Hughill gave us a tour of some other rooms we could move to, but we just couldn't give up our view!! If you time it right, you can take showers around 9am or so and then again later at night after the dinner rush at 8 or 9 and be fine! It's just around 6am and around 6pm when everyone is trying to shower that it gets cold and the water pressure (in our room (202) anyway) retreats to a mere trickle. Our room was kept super clean by Evelyn every single day and our bar was fully stocked with the specific things they knew we loved every morning.
The Resort: Of course it's gorgeous! It's the Caribbean Mon! The common areas are all very nicely kept up. This isn't the place to go if you want to enjoy a gorgeous beach, but there are small strips of beach that are ok - it makes for some wonderful sun bathing... just not ideal for swimming. We were right next to the "quiet" pool. Even though the resort was at capacity the weekend we got there, there was always plenty of room in the pool and on the deck. The main pool is the place to be if you want a more lively pool experience - they have a swim up bar and activities throughout the day. We were more up for lounging, so the quiet pool was absolutely perfect. The hot tub was awesome as well! You can sit in it and look out at the ocean... beautiful!
Our Butlers - Hughill really lived up to everything I had read on here about him. He was absolutely first rate. He anticipated what we wanted before we even asked! He had breakfast prepared on our patio every morning, a cooler for us at the pool every day! Anything we wanted, he was on it! He really made the difference for us! We even included him in our wedding pictures! A great man! Devon and Damien did a great job when Hughill was off as well.
We thought the food was pretty good! There is plenty of it and there is variety if you seek it out. The Thai restaurant on Sandals Cay was pretty good and the experience was fun! Definitely would recommend it. My favorite was the steak at La Jardinier that we had for our wedding meal. Delicious!! The drinks were good too! Lots of Rum mon!!
Our wedding was really nice! The wedding coordinators do a great job of handling the details! The minister is such a great man! He has been doing it forever and really does a wonderful job! The only thing that I wasn't happy about is that he would pose us for pictures right in the middle of our ceremony!! He would tell us how to stand and where to put our hands etc... while it did make for absolutely gorgeous pictures, it just turned me off for some reason... totally not a big deal.... just worth mentioning.
The staff was nothing short of extraordinary!! Everything was "no problem mon"! They were friendly and courteous and did their jobs very well. They get an A+!
Our trip home was a complete nightmare - but it was not Sandals' fault. All I can say is make sure you have ample time if you have connecting flights! We missed all of ours and had to spend the night (at our expense - thanks NorthWORST) in Memphis! No good!
We had a marvelous time! The resort overall was good, the food was good and the service was outstanding! I might do a little research before deciding on which resort to choose next time... while we did have an awesome time, we rated the resort itself as 3.5 on a 5 point scale. We were thinking you might be able to get a little more resort for the money - but you certainly won't be able to beat the service... it was second to none!!

Our overall visit at SRC was relaxing, enjoyable and just what we were looking for. We had booked a Butler/Concierge level room and the service provided by those staff members was wonderful. Our butlers Adia and Ellis took care of all of our needs and then some we didn't know we had--they were pleasant and happy every time we had contact with them and their level of professionalism was incredible.The property was clean and well-kept outside and the suite, although showing it's age, was also clean, and well furnished.
The airport pickup was prompt and we were in the lobby within an hour of landing. We had a minor issue upon arrival at the resort. We had booked a new Swim-up River Suite (Butler/Concierge) and this was overlooked when we arrived--we were seated in the lobby area--it wasn't long before it was realized and we were whisked away to the air conditioned Concierge office to finish check-in await being taken to our room.
Then the only real disappointing moment of the trip, my mouth fell open in disbelief when our butler took us to our Swim-up River suite VIA STAIRS! This was not the suite that I had booked, but a second floor suite above the swim-up suites. I stood at the bottom of the stairs and stated that I had booked a SWIM-UP suite. Adia asked us to come into the suite anyway and said she would see what could be done. The suite was nice although not what we expected--no walking out of the river to our patio and into our room. After a bit of time we were told there were no available ground floor river suites for two days, but we could stay in the first one and move or be shown other suites on the property. Moving in two days was not an attractive thought so we opted for a different suite. We were shown two and chose Room 107 in the Balmoral building, it was nice, had a patio that was right near the pool and we could see the beach and ocean. The end result , we were very happy with the 'new' suite and location, it's in a quiet area, minimal traffic and a great view and I could walk right out my door and into the pool or go just down the walkway to the beach. Sandals also adjusted our room rate to reflect the lower level of suite--it was refunded to our credit card by the time we got home. What great customer service!
Just an FYI about the river suites, as others have said as well- there is construction going on adjacent to the current building and they are near a main area of the resort not far from the main pool, lobby, restaurant and stage.
The Beach bar grill was not great--stick with the jerk chicken wrap. We dined at the Royal Thai, Le Jardinere, Tokyo Joe's SMB, Cucino Romano SMB, and the Regency--food was good at all of these restaurants, we didn't get tired of eating out at all since there was a variety of places and cuisines. And room service for breakfast and lunch was wonderful. One day we decided to go to the island, Ellis went over early and reserved a covered area with chaises both shaded and not, brought us a cooler of drinks and then delivered lunch, it was a very good day!
The swimming at the clothing optional beach is the best at the resort.
We went on the offsite Seatrek tour and the jeep safari--and highly recommend both.
The people of SRC truly make the resort the great place it is. Everyone is friendly and happy and make you feel they want your stay to be perfect. Derron stopped by to chat one day, a groundskeeper presented me with a flower another day and Hyacinth made our suite sparkle daily.

It doesnt look like the advertised pics..The lazy river is a big joke..Just a small creek.. The beach is small & ugly..Food is so/so..And watch out..Mosqiutos!! They are everywhere.Even in our room..We had to have our room sprayed everyday. This wasnt an relaxing vacation.. Not much to do..Nightly entertainment was blah.
The positive: I had a wonderful massage at the spa! The private Island was pretty cool. We were there for a wedding and they had rented the island just for the wedding.
I would not return,,,because there was nothing much there,,I heard the other properties might be nicer!! Go there, this one needs a major upgrade!

The overwhelming positive of this trip was the friendly people throughout Jamaica. From the airport to the resort and elsewhere, we were always treated kindly and the people of Jamaica rate among the friendliest of any of our previous Caribbean destinations. We did have some disappointments in the trip, which are outlined below. Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable trip.

Check-in: The casual sit-down check in process was quite relaxing. No standing in line at a busy counter like most resorts. Sit down, relax, and enjoy your rum punch while the paperwork is ushered to you. Our room was not ready immediately (we were early), so we were taken to the beach grill to eat and drink for a half hour while it was prepared. The one problem is that the beach grill food is not very good, which gave us a very worrisome first impression of the resort food.

Rooms: We stayed a second floor Grand Luxe room in the building adjacent to the hot tub near the beach bar. It was nicely located just steps from the beach. The room interior was clean and spacious. The only small issue with the setup is that lighting was poor, especially in the bathroom. They were also shingling the roof of the building throughout our stay, which didn't bother us too much since they didn't start until after breakfast and ended before dark. Therefore, we were rarely in the rooms during the very noisy times anyway.

Beach and Pools: We were a bit disappointed in the beach compared to other resorts we have visited in the Caribbean. Although the water was very calm, the beach is quite small, the water was surprisingly cold with a bit cloudy (visited in December), and very few guests were in the water most of the time we were there. We didn't visit the clothing optional side of the offshore island, but the other beach areas on the island were not well suited for swimming. However the beds set up on the island beach are a wonderful place to lounge. We spent a day at Sandals Montego Bay and found that beach to be a bit nicer and much more spacious. The pools at the resort were well maintained and enjoyable. The pool and swim up bar on the island is a nice quiet afternoon drinking spot.

Bars: The CRICKETER PUB IS THE BEST SPOT AT THE RESORT!!! The staff there is remarkably fun and a huge highlight to the trip. They go above and beyond to make sure the guests are having a great time. This place should be the last stop every night for all guests that want to have a good time. We can't say enough good things about this place and the a la carte lunch menu there is fabulous.. much better than the grill or buffet options. The piano bar was a nice facility and good atmosphere. The grill bar staff was also a lot of fun. Top shelf drink selection was plentiful with the only disappointment being that they do not serve mojitos anywhere at the resort.

Food: The food was one extreme or the other for us. It was either exceptionally good or bad without much ranking between the two extremes. The French restaurant was spectacular. We ate two dinners there during our stay. The grilled chicken in white wine sauce was very good, as was the sea trout. The Italian Restaurant at Montego Bay was also excellent. On the flip side, the main restaurant and buffet was subpar and most of the grill food was poor. We were disappointed that the Thai Restaurant on the private island was closed for all but one night of our stay, and we didn’t get a chance to eat at that location.

Overall Summary: We had a good time, largely due to the friendly people and good times each evening at the Cricketer Pub. The free shuttle to other Sandal’s resorts is a wonderful perk. Although, it doesn’t rank among our favorites of Caribbean resorts that we have visited, due to some of the points above, but we will still have fond memories of this visit to Jamaica.

Sandals RC is about 25 years old. This resort is compact, well designed and never feels crowded. We found all of the public areas well maintained. A combination of the friendliness of the staff and design, from the pool areas to the pub, encourages meeting and making new friends. For a couple traveling alone, it was a great opportunity to meet a variety of people. Located 10 minutes from the Sangster airport makes for easy access, however, it is also located within a flightpath. Some found it annoying while others thought it was no big deal. We were impressed to see a great number of management staff walking through, stopping to pick up an empty glass or plate, saying hello to visitors and staff alike. It made for a very comfortable atmosphere – again, a sign of healthy corporate culture. We found the age of the resort creeping in which, unfortunately, can not be modified without extensive renovation. The halls and walkways are very narrow. If you happen to meet a housekeeping or beverage cart, it is a tight squeeze by. This is a minor comment, as we found buildings, facilities and grounds to be clean and very well maintained. From our research before the trip, we were aware the beach is very small. Photos in promotional material is somewhat deceptive. We found comments from private individuals on travel websites to be more accurate. If the beach is important to you, this may not be a choice location. It points to the need to DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you book the trip. If you like to snorkel, you need to go by boat to the reef, which also cushions SRC from any wave action. The sea is so calm, on most mornings it is like glass. While the private island is capitalized upon in the promotional material, it is not particularly user friendly. Transportation runs on the hour; you are not allowed to take kayaks from the resort; and there is no food available. A few snacks and better connections to the main land (a 2-minute boat ride) would go a long way to enhancing its use. One component of the beach is “clothing optional”, located on what we considered the best swimming area of the resort. The area is very well marked if the sight of a naked body offends you, however, we heard many comments from other guests who apparently needed to have a “look-see” to have something to guffaw about. If nudity is your thing, you would be better served at a resort that caters specifically to this alternative. A couple of other areas which are underutilized is the lobby and the piano bar. We only saw someone playing the piano a couple of times and there was absolutely nothing going on. Most of the people seemed to get drinks from the bar and take them to the terrace or hang out in Cricketers Pub, where the music is loud and the staff are charming. If the quality of the food were better, we would definitely recommend SRC, particularly couples 40+. As food is such an important component of an all-inclusive resort, we feel it took the resort from an easy 8/10 to a 6.5/10. While we met lots of people in the 20’s and 30’s, we see this facility suiting couples looking for a resort providing long lingering dinners, lazy days beside the pool, and early nights. It does not cater to partiers. It is relatively wheelchair friendly and would certainly be a good choice for anyone with limited mobility. There were several weddings a day, supporting everything from a couple alone, to groups of 30-40. All that we talked to felt SRC met or exceeded their expectations. Accommodation: Scoring: 8 There is a huge variety of room options. We try to say away from ground floor rooms but, in the Kensington Building at least, ground floor would have been very nice. Suites 116, 216 and 316 are corner suites and much larger. We were in a Royal Honeymoon Luxury Beachfront Concierge Room and were happy. It appears the bathroom has been retrofitted with a Jacuzzi which is a bit of a squeeze for two – but we made it! We found the balcony very small in comparison to other experiences, but it was adequate. We (again) recommend you do your homework about the type of room you request. While some of the rooms are right on the beach, they are also in very high traffic areas with constant activity. If you like your privacy, most of the beachfront rooms (ground level) would not be appropriate, however, we met some who loved all the action. There is some ongoing construction of additional river suites. We can’t comment on the rooms but they are located in a very central (busy) area of the resort. The river is small and narrow and, although still under construction, it doesn’t appear to eventually tie into the main pool. Food & Beverage: Scoring 5 As food is such an integral part of an all-inclusive resort expience, we have given this component more weight. Most of us can manage quite comfortably without perfect sunsets, a poorly equipped gym, a few less activities. But let’s face it – most of us expect to eat very well! The one consistent complaint we heard was the quality of the food and the limited options. During the evening, all dining facilities are a la carte. The menus in each of the restaurants does not vary from day to day. While many loved the hot spicy food and atmosphere of the Thai Restaurant, anyone with a seafood allergy is limited to a single dish from the entire menu, including appetizers and main courses. We and others experienced times when the already limited choice was no longer available because they had run out. To get the variety, you must use the two other Sandals Resorts at Montego Bay. There was also a question of attire. We were advised long pants and dress shoes for the men but found this rule to be largely ignored. As we are “casual” people, we were happy but we spoke to others who were disappointed. We hate to make a complaint without suggesting a solution: (1) include at buffet at each resort in one of the restaurants in the evening. We talked to a number of people who really missed it. Buffets give guests an opportunity to choose what they will eat and when they eat as not everyone enjoys spending 2 ½ hours over their meal every evening; or(2) Shake up the menu a bit, even if its rotating menus on a weekly basis. We had a bit of trouble with room service when we received a wrong order. When we tried to phone and correct it, nobody answered the phone. We phoned the front desk and were advised they would contact the kitchen or a manager immediately. We never did hear from anyone and ended up waiting until the beach bar opened at 10pm to get our supper which was originally ordered around 8:30 pm. We used the breakfast option a couple times and it was fine. We liked having premium alcohols available and took full advantage of it. The tequila however is of very poor quality and should be avoided at all costs. Jamaica is “rum country”. Activities: Scoring: 7 Okay – we admit it – we were VERY lazy. We began our days early and ended them early, spending 90% of our time in a lounge chair by the pool. If not in our lounger we were off-resort. In the event you wish to be active, you certainly can be. There is music, games and other activities around the main pool; beach volleyball; kayaking; snorkeling; windsurfing; scuba diving; a fully equipped gym; and spa facilities. You don’t have to be a beach potato . . . we just wanted to be. The entertainment was mediocre, which has been our experience at other all-inclusives. We thought the best was the west African drummers and enjoyed the beach party. A local school band plays prior to the beach party. While it’s great Sandals is supporting local arts and culture, we expected a bit higher caliber. Management & Staff: Scoring: A VERY Solid 10 It would be impossible to over-praise the management and staff at SRC. Sandals seems to have a solidly established reputation as a very good employment opportunity. The staff are happy and appear to work very well with management. We formed bonds with a few which left us feeling sad to say goodbye to them. Knowing we were at a resort that takes care of its people gives us great comfort and makes it worth considering a visit back, just to see them again. Conclusion: Sandals Resorts obviously does many things right and has some very strong supporters, as can be witnessed on the “Walls of Fame” in some of the resorts. Visitors make the Wall upon their 5th return visit; one couple celebrated a 100th visit – that’s 3 visits a year for 33 years! There are special privileges for “signature” guests” which also sounded like lots of fun. While we didn’t find many first-timers terribly excited about SRC, we found return visitors to be absolutely committed to SRC and/or Sandals Chain. Would recommend SRC? The quality of the food is the only reason we would hesitate to recommend this resort, to friends and family. The staff would be our only reason for returning to SRC. Would we go back to a Sandals? Maybe but we would have to carefully research before we spent two weeks at one again. We loved the look of the Whitehouse beach and facilities and may research that resort as well as Negril and Dunn’s River. Sandals has some very stiff competition, such as the new RIU and Palladium Resorts. We still need to be convinced the extra cost equates to extra value. Would we go back to Jamaica? Absolutely Mon!

We stayed at Sandal Royal Caribbean May 3, 2008 – May 6, 2008 as the first part of a split stay with Sandals Negril.
The airport Sandals lobby was a nice place to sit and have a drink. The airport was very busy, so it was a little chaotic trying to make sure our bags were left in the right place for the bus. We had to wait outside awhile for our bus, but the trip to the resort was short, which was great as we had quite a long traveling day already.
When we arrived, they had us sit down in the lobby and brought us drinks and cold face cloths, which was nice, but the pleasant check-in process went down from there. Our room wasn’t ready and they didn’t want to hold onto our bags so we could go down to the beach. They scrambled to just get us a room and the baggage handler was less than helpful – we carried some of our own up the stairs. As we were unpacking, the air conditioning started pouring out water all over the floor. They did send someone right away and fixed it, but I was beginning to wonder if every negative review that I had dismissed from Trip Advisor may have been right!
By the next day, things were better and I was having a great time. The food was good, especially the dinners. We loved the offshore island. If you don’t mind a clothing-optional beach, this is the place to be! It was very quiet and a great place to swim and snorkel and collect shells. No vendors – there’s a bar, a pool and bathrooms, but no food – so be sure and bring some snacks with you.
Our room was #75 on the 2nd floor of the Windsor building. It has a somewhat obstructed view of the ocean because of two trees close to the balcony, but we liked the privacy with the ability to still see the ocean. The only drawback was the proximity to the entertainment stage, so it was loud every night until 11:00 pm or so. I liked being so close to everything else though – we were close to restaurants, the waterfront sports and the main pool.
We are certified divers and came to dive as much as possible. Be aware that you can’t only sign up for dives the day before, no sooner, no later. And if you aren’t a certified advanced diver, you have to do a shallow dive your first day. The diving was fun – we saw a huge stingray the first day.
You definitely need bug spray for the evening. Much of the Montego bay area is built on reclaimed swampland, so there are lots of mosquitos!

Pros:
Offshore island is a peaceful retreat
We thought the food was great – of course we were not expecting 5 star cuisine – I don’t even like 5-star cuisine! But the food was delicious and there was plenty of it!
The resort is very clean and the beaches well maintained.
It is super close to the airport so, very short travel time for the already weary traveler.

Cons:
The check-in process can be frustrating
There are vendors by the waterfront and on surfboards outside the swimming areas, but they respond well to a “No thank you”
Other than scuba and snorkeling trips, there was not a lot of other water-sports. The mini-catamarans were under repair and there’s not much of an area to kayak.

We enjoyed our stay, but we did end up liking Sandals Negril better – see my other review.
