Well after reading all the reviews I was a little scared about what I would encounter. Here is a true review of this property... When we arrived check in was fast and pleasant and were upgraded at no extra charge it seems all you have to do is ask. I recommend the the west or east wing, beatuiful views. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pools were clean, and plentiful. The water park is great for children and teens. The beach was beautiful, thats where we spent most of our time although parts were very rocky to the point you don't even want to go in. If you get up early there are parts that are beautiful but get up early to get chairs there. There are plenty of bars and did not feel the drinks were watered down, a small tip goes a long way. Most of the staff was very friendly,I recommend looking up Anthony the bartender he was great and alot of fun. He was mostly at the beach bar. As for the down sides: The food could be upgraded alot. The buffet was ok but could have been much better!!!! The speciality resturants were ok but small portions. As for night life not much alittle boring !!! they could use more or better entertainment. If you are looking for night life don't go here!! The beach party was the high point of the entertainment had a great time that night , good bands, the best food you will eat all week, and fun games on the beach. The mc that night was fabulous they should have him there every night!! All in all we had a good time but the food was not up to par!!!!

We stayed at Sunset Beach the week prior to July 4th. I will hit the highlights of our great relaxing vacation. The resort was everything that I imagined. This was our 1st all inclusive vacation and I can say that we are hooked. I do the planning for our vacations and sometimes what I invision doesn't pan out. This vacation was exactly what I invisioned and more.

I booked an all inclusive vacation because of the value. I am supprised at how many people go to the resort and scheduled 2 or 3 excursions. These are expensive and add more cost for food and drink that has already been paid. We left the resort 1 time for about 3 hrs shopping and touring Montego Bay and dropped $130.00.

The resturants were great, and the buffet was good. The beach party was the best, ribs, peel and eat shrimp, pork, chicken and all the trimmings. The bars are located throughout the resort and I can't imagine why anyone would complain about drinks.

We love the sun and spent most of our time beside the pools, we met very nice people from a lot of different places. We spent a lot of our time waste deep in the pools nursing fruity drinks until it was time to switch to red strips. Great weather, good drink, and excellent company what more can you ask.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, We are reaching that age that requires an afternoon nap. Saturday evening we went to the italian resturant, "Great", after dinner we went to the pool side movie. This was a current release on a big screen TV beside the pool, laid back in a lounge chair. During the beach party we had a great band, Children of the drums performed (excellent), and we had a fire dancer followed by games on the beach, great time.

I do recommend this resort, I never stayed an any other all inclusive so I can't say its better or worse. I hope that if you go to Sunset Beach Resort you have the same experience that my wife and I did. Take care of the staff!

Resort in much better shape than other reviews from last year.
Rooms: were clean and beds comfortable. Not the Ritz, not the Marriott, but we weren't in there much. Walls repainted many times. Friends in "West" end had really beautiful rooms. No bugs, great a/c, maid service was perfect. Everything was safe.
Staff: Very friendly and helpful.
Check in/out: easy, no surprises.
Spa: very friendly, and attentive
Pools: All clean, and beautiful. Kids lived in the pirate zone/waterpark.
Snorkeling: first day they seemed to be booked all of the time. After that, I could get them any time I wanted. INCREDIBLE REEF JUST OFF OF HOTEL. No need to book snorkeling cruise!!!
Paddleboats/Kayaks/ other recreational facilities (you can check out cards, board games, etc) - excellent!
Food: OK - Italian restaurant was GREAT! Don't think you're going to get anything special on seafood night (the only different seafood I saw on the buffet that night was mussels which were overcooked). Breakfast is GREAT. Lunch and dinner - OK. Fish was usually the best. Expect bones (not a problem w/ me). I put a little of everything on my plate, and always found something I liked. Kids ate at grille most of the time.
Drinks - great!
Entertainment - always something going on!
Tours - here's a tip: hook up with a great taxi driver, and tell him where you want to go. It's usually cheaper (negotiate! - but tell them if you want to stop at a supermarket, or someplace like a convenience store). Ours stopped at a man's place that grew his own pineapples, and we ate a pineapple fresh from his patch..... oh, my word - soooo good!!!!!! Our driver was Lincoln Black w/ Juta. Clean taxi van - very professional. He told us we didn't have to tip him, and we ended up tipping him plenty (others will complain if you don't tip them enough).

DO NOT MISS GLISTENING WATERS!!!!! Look it up - my husband didn't want to go, and it ended up being his favorite part! Only 4 places in the world have this type of experience... There is a restaurant there, that is quite good, and then you can get the tour discounted.

Hotel provides shampoo and soap. Bring hair conditioner - they don't even have it in the shop.

Take waterproof cameras with you - and especially Aloe Vera ($16 in the gift shop!!!)

We didn't get sick - even tap water from outside of the hotel.

Loads of places to lounge under fans in lobby. We usually played card or board games w/ the kids down there.

Afternoon Tea w/ Frank playing the piano is nice too.

What an awesome and memorable time we had in Jamaica - and many thanks to Sunset Beach Resort & Spa!

The "Goods":
- beautiful view from our room overlooking the beach and the Caribbean Sea
- rooms, public areas, pools, beach were very clean
- food was great - just what we needed!
- had many staff on-hand to help us with booking our adventures and excursions! (so many choices and ours were all awesome!)
- helpful staff (my husband came down with food poisoning and the resort nurse supplied him with what he needed to get better)
- fun, nightly activities
- availability of food and drinks all day and night long

The "Not so goods":
- under-cooked jerk chicken which caused my husband's food poisoning

We had a fabulous honeymoon! We enjoyed every minute of it (okay, besides getting sick...), from swimming in the Caribbean Sea, lounging at the pools, dancing the Electric Slide during one of the evening activities, eating the good food, having our endless supply of alcoholic drinks, enjoying our beautiful view of the sea from our balcony, to the numerous and memorable excursions that we took part in. We are fortunate to have had such a great time!

We just returned from a trip with my parents and my teenagers. We stayed in different complexes. My parents and kids in the top of tower near the lobby and the action and my husband and I in the furthest part surrounded by lush gardens and quiet beach. The room was cheerful with sliders that opened fully to let the sounds of the water in to our retreat. We only left the resort once yet were never bored. The all-inclusive bars included paradise perfection drinks (not watered down as in some resorts) and treated our children to delights besides the standard virgin pina colada or shirley temple. Because the resort is so spread out, you never felt crowded whether in the pool, on the beach, or in a restaurant/buffet. The onsite coral reefs offered a world of adventure for everyone from the youngest to the eldest. Paddle boats, kayaking, games, entertainment, staff/guest talent show, and the FANTASTIC beach BBQ was enough to keep everyone excited. The kids pool proved fun for young and old alike. The spa was a nice relaxing experience for my mother and myself. The staff was amazing and friendly. Most knew us by sight or name after a day or two, everyone offered as warm greeting as you passed, many gave us hugs as we left (I miss you Rohan, Craig, Ricardo, and all the rest. I've never seen staff work so hard yet never seem to tired to be friendly (even though tipping is technically frowned upon) Their motto of come as guests, leave as friends, and return as family says it all...and we will return!
