The Riu Hotel in Montego bay has to be the most amazing hotel i have been to. Unfortunately our holiday got off to a bad start with flight to Cancun being cancelled so we was a bit gutted then 7 days before we decided to travel first choice recommended that we change to RIU but then there was more dismay at the airport a 11 and a half hour delay through first choice / thompson after the computers went down. Boarding passes had to be hand completed then after finally checking in and waiting 5 hrs later we boarded the plane... whilst sat on it for 2 hours we was then told that there was unauthorised baggage on the plane so we would have to get back off the plane... things didnt stop there we were then told the cabin crew were over their hours so we would have to wait for another cabin crew to turn up equalling very unhappy passengers. We were told to go back to departures where a thompson rep would come down to talk to us and issue us with light refreshment vouchers we were issued with vouchers however we didnt even see let alone recieve an apology from any of their representatives.
Holiday from hell started coming to mind at this point. but finally we boarded the plane and headed towards Jamaica
thankfully the hotel did not however let us down.
If anyone is looking to travel to Jamaica i recommend this hotel to the fullest. Nonstop entertainment is provided from dusk till dawn from beach parties to poolside games to ballet. The ENT Entertainment crew work hard to provide you with the best in entertainment. I've been to many hotels but i have never witnessed performances as brilliant as those at RUI Montego Bay.
As for drinks... Where do we start. In you're room you're provided with several spirits on optics including vodka and appleton rum (mmmm) as well as red stripe beer (mmmm) water, diet coke, normal coke & a orange drink resembling the taste of fanta. 4 bars are situated in the hotel so there is never a shortage of drinks. they are also very skilled and can also mix various cocktails for you which was brilliant.
The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily, you have a safe large enough for laptops etc
The RIU caters to all, young and old alike because it is not just focussed on one or the other it suits anyone at any age or gender.
If you're heading to the RIU make sure you keep an eye out for HOTDOG from the ENT crew he provide's nonstop jokes. He's the one who manages to keep a constant smile on his face.
The RUI gave me one of the most memorable holiday experiences in my life and I'll definately be heading back... more than likely. Next year
