We went for one night and ended up staying six!
The owner, Brigitta Fuchslocher, has made a fantastic budget hotel in an old Spanish pirate fort.
Brigitta is welcoming and friendly, as are all the staff.
The rooms are enormous, clean and simply but tastefully decorated, with large, comfortable beds.
It is situated in a very peaceful/safe rasta community in one of Jamaica's most untouched stretches of coastline.
The price includes a delicious homecooked breakfast and dinner.
There is a really cool bar over the road (called Natural Vibes) that is owned by the hotel, and there are several other places to eat and drink within walking distance.
There is a wonderful newly-constructed yoga deck in the middle of the trees.
You can go on a hike or boat ride to the nearby black sand beach and waterfalls. There also lots of pretty walks in the area.
The very best thing about River Lodge is the small natural pool on the grounds - so refreshing and beautiful!
It was the perfect place for me, my partner and our 14 month old baby to relax, unwind and enjoy Jamaica.
