The River Lodge is hidden away in a small area called "Strawberry Fields" just outside of Robins Bay in the parish of St.Marys
The Lovely Brigitta who turned a small spanish fort into a beautiful, simple lodge, Rumored to have been haunted a some point in the past. There is a wonder vibe and peacefulness about this area. There is no T.V or hot water, but if you book the honeymoon room you have your own private out door shower and let me tell you there is something really great about having a shower naked while the sun is beating down on you. This is way away from any major tourist spot. But close to Port Antonio and Ochos Rios that if you have a car which is not needed but recommend if your not comfortable taking public transit. The river lodge can provided transfer to and from the airport at a cost of 80-100us per way. If you think that the cost is high it is a 21/2hrs from Kingston and about 31/2 from Montego Bay so not so bad. You can go on walks through the lush jungle to waterfalls and to black sand beach or go fishing with the local fisherman or just lay around on the several natural beaches or just hang with the very friendly locals and learn some patios. The food at the river lodge is home made and true to the culture I would say I love 98% the food and the stuff I didn't like was just my taste buds. I have been to Strawberry to many times to count I love it, this place is my home away from home. If your looking for big parties and lots of people or someone to keep you entertained then this is not a place for you. If your interested in true peace, good vibes and beautiful real natural nature then please go! You won't be disappointed. This place is truly one of a kind.
