We read all of the reviews and were expecting a great ride while in Jamaica. We do have some riding experience so we opted for the private ride at $90pp. We were very disappointed. The private guide took us down a paved road and across a four lane roadway to a very short stretch of wooded area. We did trot and canter a bit however this meant that we arrived at the beach extremely fast and then sat waiting for all of the other groups to arrive. Once we were on the beach, people were there trying to sell us beer and Jamaican goods. We waited and waited for the other riders. Then, they dismounted and took their "break". We had already been resting for twenty minutes. Once the break was over, we all remounted and took a short jog through the water. We tried to get our horses to swim but the water was too shallow. After the swim, we took another long break and waited to ride back. We finally remounted and rode the same short wooded path and paved road across a highway back to the stables. We spent three times more time on the beach waiting than we did on the actual ride. It was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend this excursion to anyone unless you enjoy sitting around waiting instead of riding. The actual time we spent on the horse was approximately 30 minutes out of the two hours.
