“Fantastic View”

Sunset Resort Villa

The cheerfully decorated octagonal room on the top has a great 360 view of the ocean and Treasure Beach. I had a walk-in-off-season deal.
Nice pool.
Free Internet use.
The resort is in a quiet location, with pleasant landscaping
The fresh fish dinner, caught that day by the owner, was great, otherwise the food was average and a bit expensive. It was more American style than Jamaican. I went out to other places to eat.

The beach is rocky due to the last hurricane but there is a small public beach (jack Sprat) within walking distance.
The CD player was nice.
The satellite TV only had 3 channels, or was it 4?
The staff was friendly.

While staying in treasure beach for our first time to the south coast area we came across Sunset Villas. Now although we were staying in a very nice villa up the way we were out and about exploring the area. We went in to have a cold drink and some lunch and met the owner Kori. Kori sat with us and we enjoyed great food ,drinks and conversation about how this beautful resort has been run by his family for over 40 yrs. Kori gave us the grand tour of the grounds and the immactulant rooms. After seeing this place and most of the area through out our stay i new this is where i wanted to take my wife for a very, very romantic birthday dinner. Our only problem was getting there at night because the taxis in treasure beach aren't as plentiful as in other parts of jamaica. So Kori said "No Problem", we'll come get you and take you back to your villa when ever you want ". When we arrived back that evening the night time setting was as beautiful as i could have imagined. The outdoor seating and the sounds of the soft surf were just perfect. My wife and i both had lobster and must say "the best" we have ever had in jamaica and this was our 7th trip to the island and we have always stayed in five star all inclusive resorts. Kori and his supurb staff topped off the evening with a very unexpected birthday cake and the whole staff sang happy birthday. My wife and i were overwhelmed by the extra detail that was put forth to this make night special but not surprised to be treated so well in jamaica .Sunset Villas will be a place that we will definently come back to stay so that we can get the same royal treatment , we recieved that evening, everyday. After seeing how well Kori treated us for one evening dinner i can just imagine what a week would be like...WOW!!! The whole Treasure Beach area is unique and special in its own right and Sunset Villas is one of the most beautiful places we came across that week in febuary. Please dont hesitate to contact them to ask questions as i'm sure Kori will help you plan the perfect visit to this perfect place.

The Sunset Resort has been our stop in Treasure Beach for a few years now. We typically arrive in February and August. Cory's place is great, although we usually spend only one night or two (So much to do in JA, even semi-annual trips aren't enough).

The Real pleasure is the community itself. All of Treasure Beach is sweet! Most recently, hurricanes of 2005 have kick the you-know-what out of the sand on most of the beaches, but there is still a small strip of sand and the usual good surf and powerful riptides.

Besides Sunset Resort, try a drink at the Yabba restuarant (Sorry Cory) at Treasure Beach hotel, if only for the bouganvillas and the lovely view. Keep going around the turn and look for a small shop with outdoor "terrace" at the next intersection. Again great people and wonderful breakfast.

Finally, a trip to Treasure Beach isn't complete until you stop a the Ital Restuarant, and the little carvings, shirts, and jewlery sold by "Cut -rate Charlie", a big man with Dreadlocks, a pleasant smile and his "bless" for you.

Don't miss Treasure Beach.
P.S. Another great place is Jakes! Dougie and Jason are two of the big shots of Treaure Beach. Dougie 'cause he's the bartender (and has been photograghed for multiple Lonely Planet Guides) and Jason, becuase his truly is "da Big Mon of de place.' Big Ups too all T.B. folks!

We stayed at Sunset the last week of March, '05. Having been to Negril several times, we were looking for somewhere a little more "laid back" to stay - and a resort with things to do, but some privacy. Treasure Beach was the place for this, and Sunset was the perfect fit. The rooms in the main building surround a beautiful pool. The room we stayed in, Sunset Dream 1, was a little more private. Had a kitchen and ac in the bedroom with a king sized bed. Best thing about room was the covered patio - right on the sea. Amazing view! Great sunset!
There is a tiki bar right in front of the room, overlooking the sea. Many times we were the only ones at the bar, and they always had the coldest Red Stripe. The staff is great. Although there are some great restaurants in Treasure Beach, we ate at the resort's restaurant three nights. This was because they served the best lobster I have ever tasted - grilled in the shell, and huge. We also went on the trip to Black River and Pelican Bar with Kirk. It is even better than it sounds. Anyone who goes to Treasure Beach will need a ride from the airport and a ride on at least one day trip. I highly recommend a driver named Ronnie at ----------. He was recommended to me by a regular to TB. He drives his own new Toyota minivan very carefully, and he is an overall good guy.
Feel free to email with any questions.

“A Little Piece of Heaven”

I recently returned from a week stay at Sunset Resort Villas. This was my first time traveling to Treasure Beach. I was a woman travelling alone with my children ages 6 and 9 and this resort was perfect for our needs. I wouldn't hesitate to return with my husband, friends or other families. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning, which was a welcome relief from the heat, worked great. We made great use out of the pool and deck area. They have a lovely new bar right at the edge of the water which has great tunes, a wonderful breeze and a view to die for. We ate many meals in the restaurant. I enjoyed everything I ordered as did my children. They have a well varied menu for every meal which made it quite easy. The highlight for me was the grilled lobster with garlic butter. It was outstanding. I loved the resort's location and we walked everywhere. The staff and owners were more than accomodating. They bent over backwards to take care of any wish we had. My son ended up getting sick and the owner took the time to set up a doctor visit, take us and wait with us. I couldn't expect that type of care even from good friends at home. They arranged a tour of Black River and Pelican bar for us which was something to repeat. It was that great. I will return to Sunset Resort Villas as soon as I can. Maybe this summer? One can only hope.
