“Truth about the Original Mayfieldfalls and mineral springs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

I must say that the experience the visitor had on the 11.07.2013 did not happen at the Original Mayfieldfalls. This happened at Reggae style mayfieldfalls.

At Original Mayfieldfalls there are lockers which the visitors are entitled to before going on tour.
Whichever tourguide is assigned to each group that tourguide will have the key to the locker along with the group which go along with him whether it be two or a group. Or if the visitor like it is a choice for them to keep the key themselves.

I am so sorry for the experience the visitor had.

“Great trip but leave your money locked in your driver's car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We visited Mayfield Falls with a large group of family and friends, traveling 1.5 hours from Negril. The water was running extremely fast--too fast for some of our group who opted to sit out of the tour, kind of a bummer for them. The guides were great, very helpful and we had a nice time. Lunch was good, small portions and only a choice of curried or brown stewed chicked, but it came out fast and was hot.
We had some confusion as to who to pay and when, so several members of our group had money on them which they left in their bags while on the tour, we were assured our bags would be safe behind the bar. When we returned, one of our group was missing $100 out of her bag. Very disappointing.
Do the tour but keep an eye on your money! We should have known better.

“Best part of our trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We chose to visit these falls on our first trip to Jamaica. Our Apple rep at resort recommended it as something "more Jamaica and less touristy than Dunn's River". We weren't disappointed. Everyone said we'd love it and we did! It was a good hour from Montego Bay, and wild roads compared to what we were used to, but that was part of the fun. Once we got to the falls we put our stuff in a locker (no problems with this-but we didn't bring valuables). Jermaine and Javaughn were our tour guides and were AMAZING. They knew the river and every step like the back of their hands. Very entertaining and knowledgeable. They took pictures with our cameras and they came out beautiful. The one guy even offered to hold the other couples NON-waterproof camera the whole time, up out of the water. Nice guys!! Just ourselves, the couple witlh us and the 2 guides were the only people on the river. So peaceful, beautiful, and fun. Got a little nature tour on the way back and enjoyed the food as well. If you're thinking of going-DO IT! Loveeeed this place!

“The water is not refreshing....Its freezing!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

AS the title says, the water is cold, but pleasant all the same in the lovely Caribbean sunshine. Quite a journey from Montego bay centre and VERY bumpy roads! Took over 1.5 hours to get there, but it was nice to take in "Real Jamaica" and see some of the beautiful scenery. Walk is steep track down to the falls and steep to decent into the falls. Off the beaten track a little and a better experience with less tourists and none of the creepy hand holding you get with YS and Dunns. This trip is better suited for someone who is more active due to climbing and navigating the falls- however the guides assist you. (Although I saw older people managing perfectly well). Definitely ladies... WEAR A SWIMSUIT or cover over with a T-shirt!! you WILL loose it in the current as I saw people do! You start with a bit of a walk to the falls which is nice and the guide points out interesting nature features and wildlife. Then you have approximately 1.5 hours in the falls, which you can swim in too. The guide we had was CRAZY! jumping in from huge Heights and diving in, which you are allowed to do of course if you are a good swimmer. You can even dive under caves but that is not for the faint hearted! The guide was kind enough to take pictures with my waterproof camera, but of course a photographer comes along and you can purchase these at the end if you wish. We had lunch after the walk which was a little pricey for what you get. Lobster available for $25 dollars, chicken for $14 and Shrimp for $18. Small portions served with plantain and rice. All in all a good trip out and glad we went even if the heavens opened and kept us there longer than we needed to be.
