My girlfriend and I stayed at the Golden Seas Beach Resort in Oracabessa, St. Mary from June 5th - 13th. The resort is approx. a 20 minute drive from Ocho Rios. The resort I found to be beautiful and clean. The beach area and view of the coastline is also beautiful. If you are looking for peace and seclusion this is your place at this time of year. If your looking for activities, socializing and nightlife, I would recommend finding a resort in Ocho Rios or even better Negril. I rented a car so it wasn't a problem to discover all the tourist destinations on my own. I literally covered the entire island throughout the week, so I didn't spend much time in the hotel. However, the evenings at the hotel were dead, even on a Friday & Saturday night.
Except for the Soundsystems you could hear off in the distance.
Possibly from James Bond Beach which I didn't get to visit but I hear is the center of a lot of major Concerts. The food is less than average and very expensive. It was difficult to find places to eat nearby, until you got into Ocho Rios. The hotel was nice but I wouldn't recommend staying there for tourists who don't know the area or don't drive. Because you will be stuck there with the exception of Tours in the day. For returning Jamaicans visiting family and friends, I think it is a good neutral spot to be in with a very reasonable price compared to resorts in Ocho Rios. It is close to Ochi and not too far from Junction Road which leads to Kingston.
