The Visa Lodge is very close to PAP, perhaps within a mile or so. The room charge includes transportation to the airport at no charge (be sure to tip your driver, though). The rooms are clean and comfortable--not fancy, but air conditioned and have nice restrooms. The dining area/bar is good. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the beer was cold. After working in rural parts of Haiti, it was a nice diversion and mental "return" to a more familiar environment. Downside: internet access was, I thought, a bit pricey.
Having stayed at the Montana and now the Visa Lodge, my personal preference will always be for the Visa, for its close proximity to the airport and for the much more down-to-earth attitude and environment. While the vistas aren't from a hillside overlooking the city, the quick trip to the airport really made the travel home feel a lot easier.
