The best thing about the Plaza Hotel is that it is located at the heart of the city of Port-au-Prince. You are only a few block away from the presidential palace, the IRS office, the national museum, 5 movie theaters, shopping centers etc.
The rooms are very clean and the food is outstanding. This hotel has its own entertainment system for the guests. The hotel staff is also very courteous.
Going back to Haiti after 20 years, I spent 8 days at that hotel in july 2002 and I enjoyed every second of it. The only annoyance may have been some hookers hanging around the "champ de mars", (a city park accross the street from the hotel) after sunset.
I went back to Haiti in 2004 and at that time my employer reserved at another hotel in PetionVille. I would choose Le Plaza any day over that luxurious, non sense petitbourgeois environment with a flair of mexico or bacelona.
The black rice with djon-djon and jumbo shrimp is one of the best thing that ever happen at the Plaza and also one of the wonders in gastronomy
